Need recordings where jazz trumpeter Al Hirt influenced Miles Davis   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1409 of 1983 |
I am doing research on the greatest jazz trumpet player of last half of
the 20th century , Al Hirt , whose playing influenced all jazz
trumpeters.I would like to find Miles Davis recordings of any
songs made famous by Al Hirt or find references to recordings where
Miles Davis copied Al Hirt solos.Al Hirt had such an influence on
jazz trumpet players that many started as Hirt imitators like i am sure
Miles Davis did.It is a shame Miles Davis and others started out as Al
Hirt imitators copying his solos off records and Al Hirt doesn't get
credit for it- Was Miles Davis ever able
to develope a style of his own or did he just copy Al Hirt on his
records?I have talked with Al Hirt who told me all jazz trumpet players
after 1950 started by copying his style and recordings.I need specific
songs and solos where Miles Davis copied Hirt for a book i am working
on.Al
Hirt- Jazz trumpet genius and his influence of jazz trumpet 1950-2000-
thanks
