Al Hirt in an article published in Down Beat magazine said , "There is no jazz trumpeter after 1950 who didn't start by copying my style and my recorded solos."Hirt also pointed out he had the biggest selling jazz album of all time- Cotton Candy which has sold over 10 million albums. He is the only jazzman to have an album recorded live at Carnegie Hall. He is the only jazzman to have hosted his own network TV show in the 1960's.
<I suggest you listen to some records by Miles Davis before you make
any more foolish statements about him. And if you don't know where to
start, get "Kind of Blue".
I am really interested in finding that "Kind of Blue" recording by Miles Davis to see if it really a recording of Al Hirt that Miles Davis changed the name of to cash in on Hirt's popularity.I looked through a discography of Al Hirts recordings and i can't find any recording of Kind Of Blue- I would very much like to listen to it though and see if it is an Al Hirt recording under a different name.
