Wow! I'm not sure how else to describe this one. I heard Friday night in
Montgomery was even better - but it's hard to believe.
Ronnie was feeling great and the audience was incredible. I haven't been part
of such an animated audience in a long time and he was eating it up and giving
us a show to remember. He talked a lot more than he has in awhile, which I
really liked. He mentioned that he's recording this year and talked about the
lack of decent music on the radio today (amid very loud cheering) and also how
it is so overmixed that you can't really distinguish individual instruments
anymore. As he was going on with the list of what they did to kill the music,
Jamie chimed in with "and seven lords a leaping." That prompted Ronnie to break
into song to finish up that thought.
He opened with Stranger, which I don't think I've seen him do before. Otherwise
it was the basic set of songs. The medley, doo-waps, Woman in Love, Smokey
Mountain Rain, Legend, Lost in the 50's, Any Day Now, You Don't Know My Love, My
Life, America and of course Elvis made an appearance. Just an incredible show
from start to finish. As I was walking out of the theater it was fun to hear
all the great comments. They were all ready to hit another Ronnie show! :)
I also posted a meet and greet photo in the photos section.
