Hi Guys!
The X/Y pulse buss on the Milton has an impedance problem in the original design
which can be solved by running a very low resistor such as a 640 ohm from each
of the
switch rails to ground. (by switch rails I mean the rail feeding the upper pin
of the
switches (probably bus wire soldered across al of the switches) and the line or
rail
feeding all of the lower pins on the switches. Each RAIL needs one resistor from
the rail
to ground, which should make their behavior much less "iffy".
At a later date we upgraded all of the outputs of the MIlton to be much stronger
and
last longer so as to be more useful when patched around with other modules.
(the Milty can see it's own Stage Output Pulses 1-16 and X/Y Bus pulses, but a
lot of
other modules cannot see these as the are too brief or weak to fire a lot of
stuff.
At a later date we added a new circuit board on top of all of the others that
runs across
the top of the Sequencer providing two rows of 16 FET transistors, VN-10 one
each for the
Stage Pulse Outputs, one each for the LEDs 1-16, and an additional pair of FETs
for the
each of the X/Y Pulse Outputs and their respective LEDs. I may have a couple of
these
custom PC boards left, they were our design and not part of the official Milton
Board sets.
If you have a Cynthia brand Milton Sequencer, you can tell from the front panel
if yours
has the FET board upgrade by looking for the two mounting screws... one is just
above
and to the left of Stage Pulse Output Jack #1, and the other is just above and
to the left
of Stage Output Jack #16. These black screws are about a half or a quarter inch
from the
respective jacks.
If you are having problems with your Cynthia brand Milton, then you can still
send it in for
service, we can even upgrade it to incorporate the new FET boards. If you are
building
your own Milton from a kit, then we may be able to supply you with one of these
as well.
Best Wishes!
Cynthia
