Description

mindSpiral encompasses the random musical doings of electronic musician Mike Metlay and anyone silly enough to get talked into his next wild scheme.

Metlay, who's released over two dozen albums on his Atomic City imprint, travelled the world freaking out and alienating professional musicians and stunned audiences alike, and launched the live-music phenomenon that is Different Skies, has created mindSpiral as a catch-all name for various projects he's going to be carrying out, both in his home region of northern Colorado and farther afield.

This list includes discussion of upcoming events by the participants, feedback from recent events by fans, rants and raves by Himself and others, and who knows what-all else. If it isn't fun, why do it?

The first mindSpiral event ("mind1Spiral") was a pair of live shows at the Fiske Planetarium, April 2 and 3, 2005, featuring Metlay, John DuVal, Darwin Grosse, and Giles Reaves, with a live planetarium/laser show; it was a success, with an album, the 1 is silent, now available here on CD Baby.

mind2Spiral, with Metlay, Nick Rothwell, Paul Vnuk Jr., and Greg Waltzer, did a live Fiske Planetarium show on April 8, 2006. An album is in preparation.

mind3Spiral, with Metlay, Bill Fox, and John 3 Rossi, did a live Fiske show on April 7, 2007. The music is being edited for release in some form.

mind4Spiral is already getting started, with more details to come, and there will be more projects coming in future months. Learn more here!
