Sri Gauranga appeared in the sacred place known as Sri Nabadwip
Dham, the spiritual city of nine islands situated within the eternal
stream of the Ganges river. Sri Nabadwip Dham is non-different from
Svetadwipa, the blissful island of Sriman Narayana, the Lord and
compassionate guardian of all beings.
In his golden manifestation of Sri Gauranga the Lord engaged in the
play of congregational chanting of the names of Sri Krishna (nama-
sankirtan). He filled the hearts of everyone with the bliss of the
holy name. Bringing his eternal family to Earth with him (his mother
and father, brother and others) the Lord blessed the home of Srivas
Pandit with his divine presence. In the home of Srivas, Sri Gauranga
showed many wonderful revelations to the devotees.
Sri Gaurasundara is the controlling life-force of his consorts
Laksmipriya-devi and Visnupriya-devi and his mind was filled with
deep affection for his mother and father, Sacidevi and Jagannatha
Mishra.
I fall down at the feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the golden
volcano of divine love.

Sri Gaura-Arati
by Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur:
1) (kiba) jaya jaya gourachander arotiko sobha
jahnavi tata vane jagamana-lobha
All glory, all glory to the beautiful aroti ceremony of Sri
Gaurachandra. This Gaura aroti is ceremony is taking place in a
grove on the bank of the Jahnavi (Ganges) and is attracting the
minds of all living entities in the universe.
2) dakhine nitaichanda bame gadadhara
nikate advaita srinivasa chatra-dhara
On Sri Gaurachadra's right side is Sri Nityananda, and on His left
is Sri Gadadhara. Nearby stands Sri Advaita, and Srivas Thakur is
holding an umbrella over the Lord's head.
3) basiyache gaurachand ratna-simhasane
aroti karena brahma adideva gane
Sri Gauranga is seated on a jewelled throne and the gods headed by
Brahma, the creator of the universe who is performing puja, are
offering different beautiful things to the Lord.
4) narahari adikori camara dhulaya
sanjaya mukunda basughos adi gaya
Narahari and other associates fan the Lord with whisks, while
Sanjaya, Mukunda and Vasudev Ghosa sing sweet kirtan.
5) sankha bhaje ghanta bhaje bhaje karatala
madhura mrdanga bhaje parama rasala
Conchshells, bells, and karatals resound, and the mrdanga drums
provide a dancing rhythm. This kirtan music is supremely sweet to
hear.
6) bahu koti chandra jini vadana ujjvala
galadese bana-mala kore jhalamala
The brilliance of Sri Gauranga's face conquers the beauty of a
million moons, and the garland of forest flowers around His neck
shines.
7) shiva suka narada preme gada-gada
bhakativinoda dekhe gorara sampada
Shiva, Sukadev, Narada Rishi and other sages are there, and their
voices are choked with love of God. Thus Thakur Bhaktivinode
envisions the glory of Sri Gaurasundar.
