Multicultural singer Natacha Atlas once described herself as a "human Gaza strip". She was born in Brussels, her parents are of Palestinian, English, Moroccan, and Egyptian descent. She started her career in the UK with Transglobal Underground and is now well-known and highly regarded as a solo artist. She was working with artists such as David Arnold, Mark Eagleton, Sawt el Atlas, or most recently Lebanese/French rapper Clotaire K. Inspired mainly by Middle Eastern and Egyptian music, Natacha Atlas sings normally in Arabic, but she also did cover versions of both English-language and French-language songs, among them "Mon amie la rose" (original version by Françoise Hardy), "Ne me quitte pas" (original version by Jacques Brel), and last but not last "I Put a Spell On You" (original version by Screamin' Jay Hawkins).
