Re: MBMG[mrboltonsmusicgroup] concerning the Michael Bolton Gold Cl   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #590 of 756 |
My Name is Charles Smith. I have had the pleasure and honer of having
Terrie as a friend for over 13 years. During all of that time she has
been a fan of MB. I have seen her spend literally hundred of man hours
researching his work, analyzing his songs and his achievements. When
the fan club printed a biography of MB I saw her look it over and check
for flaws. There were so many that by the time she was done the book, a
poorly edited, poorly written piece of partly inaccurate trash, was
filled with enough red marks as to make it looked bloody. Over two
hundred errors if I can remember correctly. When Terrie pointed this
out to her fan club they gave her condescending answers.
She is right about what a fan club is supposed to be. A fan club
should promote there the one they love. They should make the public
aware of when that person is preforming, what that person is like, and
above all glory in that persons success and achievements. They
shouldn't monopolize that person merchandise or information on when they
are preforming they should not offer a life time membership to a special
club and then, a few years later suddenly change things, disbanded the
club that people payed good money for then start something else. They
shouldn't have an official sight that squelches free thought when it
comes to their idle, in this case michael Bolton, and they should not be
like some snobbish click led by a women who has written a book on how to
run fans clubs for fum and PROFIT. Please note that last word.
I personally am not a Bolton fan. I think it is despicable that
Mr. Bolton has left his fans in the hands of a club that is so
manipulative, greedy, and self serving that they can't even do him good
by announcing to the general public, people who would purchase his
albums, when those albums are coming. I feel that Terrie has dedicated
a great portion of her time to a vain, idle and self serving man. Yet
that is her choice.
More important than my feelings about Mr. Boton are those of his
fans in general who have let his fan club run rough shod over them. If
I were a fan I would want to be able to buy a Bolton T shirt in the
stores. I would want to have unfettered access to his image and I would
want to know when the hell he way preforming in a decent and timely
manner with out having to pay stupid fees and be a member of a club, not
dedicated to his music, but to extracting profit from people who, for
what ever mis guided reason love or admire him.
So get off your buts and question some of his clubs practices.
Insist that HE tell why you can no get decent information about his
performances and why one must be part of an "elect to be able to get
things like Bolton mugs or T Shirts.

I personally hope that Terrie will some day come to her senses and
give her attention and loyalty to others who deserve it more such as the
Smothers brothers or another singer or performer who cares about his or
her fans. SHe has a wonderful Smothers Brother sight. It is wonderful
because they care about their fans and help her with the information she
needs so that she can praise them and their work, unlike Mr. I cut my
hair, copy songs from dead people, Bolton who doesn't seem to give a
dam.

Feel free to E mail me is you wish. I do not hide from my opinions. I
am tired of seeing my dear friend frustrated because of this hasbeen.
Charles M. Smith

P.S.

Maybe you all might thing of what you might do to have a more
informitive "Fan CLUB" If enugh people came to Mr Bolton at his
concerts and asked him what the hell was the matter with him he might
get off his lazy but nd pa attension to the majority of people who love
his muic.

I had asked a while back about if anyone knows about
the MB Gold Club and why it went out. No one seemed
to have an answer, then the fan club took forever to
answer, and when it did, they sent me this, which only
add to the confusion. To me it looks like oe hand
doesn't know what the other hand is doing when it
comes to fan business--I always remember a fan club
being a FAN club, something for the fans to enjoy--not
chase around trying to figure out how to be a fan. In
the words of Dennis Miller: "Of course that's just my
opinion...I could be wrong..."
THEN...I'm trying to find out more about the new
album, and can't find a thing anywhere. Because I'm
no longer a Gold Club member, I'm essentially no
longer a fan club member (and can't afford to become
one again) so I don't have the means to get more info.
Worse still...I can't find Jive Records anywhere, and
i used to....
Should we be afraid of Michael (and ultimately us
fans) getting gipped?
Terrie
