Dear Marcus,
A big hello to you and the members of the Foundation Board!!
Thank you for thinking of us at the "Grass Roots" level, and for sending
this helpful informative email about the foundation grants and awards.
I actually had on my "To Do List" to email you today! I was wondering
if a student wanted to apply for an award listed in the Scholarship/
Awards List what are the steps which they would take to do so?
It is probably on the website which I will check out, but if you
have a minute it would be great to hear from you.
Thank you so much
Sincerely,
Sue Owen - Bissiri

Foundation!

Hello, Mu Phis!? Greetings from the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation!
?
Many of you on this Yahoo Group are active Collegiate and Alumni members of Mu
Phi Epsilon.? Some of you may be inactive members.? Some of you may hold
leadership positions within your Chapter or District.? Whatever your
relationship or involvement with Mu Phi Epsilon, I wanted to introduce myself
and bring to your attention the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation.
?
Founded in 1963, the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation has as its purpose the promotion
and advancement of music throughout the world, and for the benefit of
philanthropic projects consistent with the philosophy of the Mu Phi Epsilon
Fraternity.? Even though we have "Mu Phi Epsilon" in our name, the Foundation
functions as a separate corporate entity from the Mu Phi Epsilon Fraternity.?
Ultimately, though, we are here to serve YOU--the members--primarily through the
administration of grants and scholarships.
?
The Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation is always seeking better ways to communicate and
get information to the Fraternity membership.? This summer's Convention in
Jacksonville went a long way toward making the Foundation more visible and
"real" to the membership.? At the Convention, in addition to a well-received
skit (a parody of "Indiana Jones"), a Foundation informational DVD was given to
the delegates and attendees to take back to their chapters.
?
In the coming months, there will be other outreach methods--there is a
Foundation greeting (with Foundation contact information) in the Fraternity's
forthcoming Fall mailing; specific information on the Foundation's grants and
scholarships will be in the Fall issue of "The Triangle"; our website,
www.mpefoundation. org, will be updated with the new scholarship information;
and a Foundation newsletter will be sent to chapters and members with grant and
scholarship information. ? There are also discussions about setting up a
Foundation group on Facebook.
?
All of these are useful methods and tools for getting word out to the members.?
Yet the disappointing reality is that many of our grants and scholarships are
not applied for.? We need YOUR interest and help in spreading the word about
Foundation offerings!? And if there's another way the Foundation hasn't tried, a
way to get members aware and excited about what we do, please let us know.
The Foundation and its Board of Directors are here to serve YOU. ?We thank you
for your support, and seek your questions and input.? Feel free to contact any

One last thing:? I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Foundation's 2007
International Competition winner, cellist extraordinaire Ruslan Biryukov.? This
highly-acclaimed and gifted artist delivers wonderful performances and wowed the
Convention audience.? Visit www.mpefoundation. org to see a written profile of
Ruslan, or visit his personal website at www.celloart. com.? Ruslan is ready and
available to perform in your area and meet Mu Phis across the country.? Any
Foundation-related concert bookings must be done through our Concert Manager,
Beverly Whitney Abegg.? You may contact her with any questions.
?
Thank you for your attention.? Once again, if there are any questions, please
contact myself or any of the Foundation Board.? We look forward to serving you.
?
Sincerely,
Marcus Wyche
