Re: [musicalfossils] Practice

Magic tricks? No magic tricks, I'm afraid! But I've had wonderful success
with playing in rhythms. I find that practicing in rhythms not only helps me
learn the music better than ever, but it also takes the monotony out of
practicing. (It's also really hard for me, which I guess keeps me from
getting bored!)

[For rhythms ... play the first note of the measure, then play the next four
notes in quicker succession ... then the next four notes ... then the next
four notes ... all the way through, stopping (but still following any
staccato/legato instructions) after each "clump" of notes. Then, once you've
learned to play the piece (or the line, or the measure) using that rhythm,
play the first TWO notes and stop ... then the next four ... then the next
four ...etc.] Sorry if this is sounds confusing--If someone else can explain
this better than I can, please help! :)

Nina
