Subject: An Appreciation of Students

A wonderful article, specially for us teachers. Thank you for sharing.
How true the three stages of teaching mentioned here: what you must teach
immediately, what can wait, and what will happen in time.
I agree with you in not feeling superior to students, and not only because
I'm still a student in the
same school I teach. We are all persons, and we are all adults. This has
given me many satisfactions and friends. My students, other students, and
even some teachers sometimes ask for my opinion on matters they prefer not
to discuss with the Principal (who is my piano teacher). To be able to help
(and spare them an awkward moment) is most gratifying.
How are you celebrating Mozart's 250th birthday?
I am reviewing two Sonatas (K282 and 570) and plan to work on the second
movement of the Piano Concerto in A (K488).
Another thing I really want to work on with my students, is to have them
smile while playing- no
more serious faces this 2006.
Best regards from México.
