Well, the new, improved Musical Justice has been on the air for
almost 3 weeks. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and rave
reviews!
If you haven't had a chance to listen, I want to give you 3 good
reasons to go and check it out... songs you aren't going to hear many
other places for awhile!
1. I've got a live version of a new song from the upcoming Steve
Earle CD, The Revolution Starts... Now, due to be released on August
24th. The song is "Rich Man's War" and for my money, it ranks with
Earle's best. Here's what Steve had to say about the song in the
recent issue of Ice Magazine. "Rich Man's War is a song that I'm
pretty proud of. When I play that song, the reaction of the audiences
to the first verse is pretty astounding. I'm proud of the words and I
actually think it's kind of pretty."
2. The new Old 97's CD, Drag It Up, is scheduled to be released on
July 27th but you can hear two tracks from the CD now on Musical
Justice. The songs are "New Kid" and "Won't Be Home" and both songs
are more of a return to the early Old 97's sound after the 60's pop
experimentation of Satellite Rides.
3. I'm also playing several songs from an internet-only release, Por
Vida by Alejandro Escovedo. If you didn't know it already,
Alejandro's been off the road for over a year due after being
diagnosed with Hepatitis C. You can buy the CD at
alejandroescovedo.com or make a donation to help offset his medical
expenses at alejandrofund.com. Also, don't confuse the internet-only
release, Por Vida, with the upcoming tribute CD, Por Vida: A Tribute
to the Songs of Alejandro Escovedo which hits stores on July 27th. A
little confusing, I'll admit... Anyway, we'll be adding tracks from
the tribute CD to the playlist as soon as we can get our hands on one!
Looks like August is going to be a good month for new music too,
including new Drive By Truckers and a covers CD by Los Lobos. So are
you hearing anything interesting that you think we should be
playing? Email us with your playlist ideas!
Until next time,
Jeff
