MUSICAL JUSTICE... NEW & IMPROVED??
-------------------------------------
The big news at Musical Justice this month is that you're going to
start hearing a lot of changes on the air and we really hope you'll
like what you hear. We've gotten a lot of feedback about every
aspect of the station from all of you and starting on July 7th, we'll
be going live with a couple of the biggest. First of all, a few of
you wrote that we played the same song three or four times during the
day. Sorry about that! So starting next Monday, we'll be offering
up no repeat 9-to-5 workdays for our listeners all across Europe and
the United States. That's right, no matter if you work in Athens,
Georgia or Athens, Greece, you can click us on when you get to work
and not hear the same song twice until it's time to go home. Well,
that is unless one of you really, really asks for it. Why? Read
on...
VIGILANTE JUSTICE
------------------
That's because we're taking requests. Starting on July 7th, as part
of the new and improved Musical Justice, I'll be turning over the
station to the listeners for an hour each day. The show will be
called Vigilante Justice since the listeners will be literally taking
Musical Justice into their own hands! You can start emailing your
requests for the first show whenever you like. Send them to me at
MusicalJustice4u@.... I'll take the best requests I get each day
and those will make up the next day's show. Vigilante Justice will
be on the air every day from Noon to 1 PM Central Time.
DOWNLOADS OF THE MONTH
---------------------
The MP3's are updated out on the Musical Justice files page. As in
the past, these are all from artist websites, so I'd encourage you to
check out the individual pages too. July's MP3's are:
Hotel Yorba (live) by the White Stripes
All by Myself (Eric Carmen cover) by Ass Ponys
Questioningly (Ramones cover) by Jesse Malin
Eve of Destruction (60's hit) by Tommy Womack
Rockets by Cat Power
These files will be up for the month of July. If you know of any
artists who have posted rare tracks on their websites, send me an e-
mail. The web address for the files section is
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/musicaljustice/files/.
DON'T AVOID THIS DRAFT
-------------------------
One of the more popular songs on the Justice playlist over the last 6
months has been The Draft's Curtains Drawn on Sunny Days. I've
gotten several inquiries on how to get a copy of their CD which was a
limited pressing mostly distributed at the band's shows in the
Lawrence, Kansas area. Well, I didn't know for sure how to get them
to the people who asked, so this past month I made contact with the
band's singer, Bob Connealy, to ask him. If you'd be interested in
getting one of the few remaining copies, send us an e-mail at
MusicalJustice4u@... and I can get you in touch with the band to
get a CD for you.
STUFF YOU PROBABLY WON'T HEAR ANYWHERE ELSE
-------------------------------------------------------
Musical Justice's Hard Drive has some cool new tracks for you.
There are way too many to highlight here, but my personal favorite is
a very rare live recording pairing up Bruce Springsteen and U2 on the
old classic, Stand By Me. The interaction between Bono and Bruce is
amazing and you can hear these two great live artists pushing each
other to take it up a notch. Another great live cut you've probably
already heard is Jeff Tweedy's acoustic cover of the Beatles' I'm
Only Sleeping. Yet another great live acoustic track comes from
Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe as they perform Lowe's anthem, (What's
So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding. Keep an ear open for
these and several other great rarities!
