Not only is Stephen Michael Apatow the President, Founder, and Director of
Research and Development of the Humanitarian Resource Institute, he is now able
to credit himself as an accomplished recording artist. He is promoting his most
recent track, "Nessun Dorma (None Shall Sleep)" - an aria from the Puccini
opera, Turnadot. Apatow does a splendid job of conveying the emotions of
Puccini's original composition and considering this piece is not an easy one to
sing, his version is something to be heard. Apatow has certainly been blessed
with a powerful tenor voice and "Nessun Dorma" is surely the beginning of an
outlet through which this humanitarian will inspire his listeners.

Subject: The Seven Essentials To Writing A Press Release

By Michele Wilson-Morris

Working in the music industry has its perks, privileges, and pains as anyone who
works in it knows. No matter what your genre is, one thing remains the same for
all artists: You need to bring attention to yourself, your music, and your
events. And while there are several ways to do so, few are as effective (in
terms of cost or exposure) as a well written press release.

Writing a press release may prove to be a challenge to those whose focus is
solely on their musical ability and efforts, but it doesn't have to be. There's
an art to writing a good press release just like there's an art to making good
music. In fact, a well written press release is simply you on paper. There are
many tricks to the trade, and I'm going to share some of several of them with
you: The Seven Essentials of Press Release Writing.

Essential #1: "Who, What, When, Where, and Why?"
A good press release must clearly convey who is doing what and when, where it's
happening, and why. Your target audience is much more likely to be responsive if
you included answers to all of the above. When I write press releases for
Mi2N-PRESS (http://www.mi2n.com/services/mi2n_press.php3), I never leave room
for "guesswork." Plain and simple: If people have to guess about any information
that should be included in the press release, then you haven't done your work.

Essential #2: "Less Is More"
When you're writing a press release and answering the what, where, when and why,
remember that less is more. Not less information, but fewer words. Short,
detailed sentences are best. Think about it. If you're running from one
performance to another, meeting with your agent, writing lyrics or music,
talking with your promoter AND trying to squeeze 3 square meals, family, and far
too few hours of sleep into your the day as most of us are, then you know that
time is precious. Your press release should take into account the fact people
are a lot less likely to read a press release that's much longer than one page.
As President Thomas Jefferson said, "The most valuable of all talents is that of
never using two words when one will do." And if neither of those reasons
convinces you, just know this: media professionals (like most of us) are
fundamentally lazy. They don't want to do any more research than they have to.

Essential #3: "The Early Bird Gets The Worm"
If you haven't grabbed your target audience's attention by the end of paragraph
one, you've probably lost the opportunity to do so. People simply don't have
time to wait for fluff. If they want more information than what you've given
them in the first paragraph about that CD that you are releasing in January,
2010 in Europe (because you performed live on a famous radio show and were so
well liked, the rest was history), then you've put out a good "hook" and now
they've "taken the bait". Now you need to "real them in."

Essential #4: "Thou Shalt Not Lie"
One thing that writers and music professionals are able to do is to quickly spot
a press release that has been, shall we say "highly exaggerated". It's just as
important to be known for being credible than it is for making great music.
Submitting a press release that contains false or misleading information is just
as bad as lip syncing at your "live performance." If you don't believe me, just
ask Milli Vanilli.

Essential #5: "Spice, Please"
Use audio and video links whenever possible. While press releases are most
certainly a business document, that doesn't mean it has to be a boring document.
Capture your reader's attention with a photograph or an audio URL. People like
to be entertained. We like our food, cars, and homes to be aesthetically
pleasing, and we like our press releases that way as well.

Essential #6: "Quotes: He Said, She Said...
One way to infuse life into your press release is to incorporate a quote. Find a
good quote that is relevant to your press release and use it. Remember the
favorable press you received by that infamous reviewer who has critiqued your CD
or been to your concert and written about it favorably? Dig it out, and quote
them. It's an endorsement of you and your music.

Essential #7: "In The Beginning..."
The title of your press release is especially important as it is the first thing
one sees and the scale that will be used to measure their interest in actually
reading your press release or moving on to the next one. A good title is as
important as having an M.C. who can get the crowd fired up about you before you
even hit the stage. It has to be both interesting and informative.

Obviously, a lot of work goes into writing a great press release. But it's
definitely within your reach if you utilize the essentials outlined above. With
online marketing being more important than ever before because of social
networking sites, blogs, and countless other sources of music buzz, you have to
put your best foot forward with your press release. It's your connection to your
audience: conveying your brand, your music, and your story. It's also important
to have it distributed to your target audience and as many appropriate sites as
possible within the industry. Choose your distribution service carefully. Make
sure that they have a reputation for being a trusted news source and a large
enough dissemination to make it worth your investment.

Quite applicable to this topic, I'll leave you with this quote: "It is not
because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare
that they are difficult." Seneca (3 BC - 65 AD)

Urban Music News Network (UM2N) has followed in the footsteps of its parent Mi2N
(http://www.mi2n.com/services/Mi2N_press.php3) by launching a complete PR

Hip Hop/Rap, R&B and Soul communities, Mi2N-PRESS URBAN
(http://um2n.mi2n.com/um2n_press.php3) provides independent artists, labels and
music companies with a professional press release writing service combined with
UM2N's PR URBAN distribution package.

Everyone knows that the music industry isn't just about music; it's about
business as well. Now, more than ever, urban artists must be able to
successfully express their unique brand and convey news about upcoming
performances or music release to their target audiences. As the leading music
news source and major online artist marketer, Mi2N has over a decade's
experience working with people on both sides of the PR sector and knows what it
takes to get results.

Mi2N-PRESS URBAN includes:

submission (all details must be provided) including images, URLs, a sound link,
and your complete contact information
* Automatic submission of your press release to the Mi2N and UM2N newswires and
express submission to over 35 Mi2N syndicated newswires
* PR URBAN distribution campaign
* A money back guarantee that your press release will be error free and
delivered on time

"Online PR has proven to be one of the most effective and affordable ways for
independent artists and labels to reach out to new fans and industry
professionals," commented Eric de Fontenay, UM2N's Founder and Editor. "This is
an especially important tool for artists in the hip hop and rap genres, as these
are some of the fastest growing and most competitive sectors in the music market
today. As the editor of UM2N, I've seen what a smart PR campaign can do to
increase an artist's exposure"

What people are saying about Mi2N, UM2N, and Mi2N-PRESS:

"The Mi2N-PRESS URBAN service is great. The people that I worked with were very
professional, yet down to earth. I am definitely going to use the service in the
future and would recommend Mi2N-PRESS and UM2N to anyone in the music industry
who needs exposure for a hip hop or rap artist." Eric Carwell, Llewrac
Entertainment

"[Mi2N] is a trusted resource I use all the time to get information. I strongly

"I've used Mi2N to increase exposure into my press releases for my company
(WaTunes). I highly recommend that you use Mi2N for your press distribution as
it is one of the most cost effective solutions out there!" Kevin Rivers, CEO

As mentioned with this week's show, out of a post-gig conversation with Joe
Iadanza last week, Joe mentioned compadre songwriter Amy Hills, whom almost no
one has even heard of in months. Amy was receiving a fair amount of airplay on
my show, courtesy of her 2004 CD "heroine". Amy and I appeared on a
public-access cable TV show later that year...and I think that the one and only
time we crossed paths. The subject of the song I spun ("aaron's song") was
Aaron Wilkinson, a close friend of Amy's, and a songwriter and charitable
gentleman based in NYC with roots in Kentucky. Aaron passed away in 2003, and
there was a pall of sorts across the world of anti-folk. I visibly recall at
least 2 murals drawn in his memory on sidewalks in Manhattan. Having recalled
my convo with Joe, it was a no-brainer for yours truly to spin this tune. Does
anyone know where Amy is?

I actually forgot to spin Lara Hersovitch's tune "Tequila Over Turkey" which is
from Lara's debut CD "there"....choosing to opt out of the US Thanksgiving
tradition. I might spin this song next time out, to keep with the RCB
tradition.

On RCB Novus Ordo I introduced more new music from Stark. I don't really buy
into the concept of 'radio singles' but "What It Is" would have to be just that
single. ZXL is another big favorite here, with its loose electronic breakbeat
style. Showing love to Germany, I also introduced Anshelle and the Betty's
Garden CD. Still figuring out their German site.
on RCB proper I debuted a song from a 2-CD set by longtime favorite Akiva. Got a
very nice request to spin Kiss Mars and I had to oblige. My favorite segue
included songs referencing snow, with strings in the background: Mikey Wax/Greg
Klyma/Crooked Still in that particular mix, with NJ songwriter Dan Ferrari and
Scotland's David Ferrard bookending some great radio.

3 more shows ahead for 2009..then we are very much in the touch-and-go
phase...as I will do a show for as long as I'm still operating under someone's
roof. If anyone has interest in housing my show, please inquire. I have a lot
of CDs, a mixer, a mic, and software to generate .mp3's, and an online archive.
I intend on keeping this show going in some way while pondering where to work
and what city to live in.

Still taking inquiries for my holiday show, which will be created on 12/13 and
distributed the day after. Great responses from all over the Web coming in so
far!

Friday I did see Joe Iadanza at Starving Artist Cafe & Gallery on City Island.
Joe played 2 long acoustic sets and bantered a bit with songwriter and audience
member Larrin Gerard. As always, the experience at the Cafe is warm and
family-like.
Saturday:Took in the music of The Shells for the first time, at Ulysses Folk
House in Lower Manhattan on Saturday, but did not have camera in tow for that
show. Actually didn't stay very long there.
Tuesday 11/24 I was at Brooklyn Bowl, that new rock n' bowl experience in
Williamsburg. Saw 3 tremendous rock acts: Hank n' Cupcakes, J.Viewz, and Electro
Morocco. Honestly I forgot I was in a bowling spot, the music was that good and
engaging.

The holiday at home here is very quiet and that's fine. Honestly. Not doing a
ton of shopping at all. Frankly, this Black Friday as I type this fills me with
dread, hoping that there will not be a repeat of last year's tragedy at Wal-Mart
in Valley Stream, NY.
I am forwarding the following URL as a public service. I'm not attending but I
heartily endorse Reverend Billy's plea. Please choose and shop wisely.
http://bearmarketnews.blogspot.com/2009/11/nov-2728-is-buy-nothing-day.html

As mentioned last week, 2 folks in the music industry I know well had lost their
homes. A renowned music venue, long threatened by the wrecking ball, may join
this list sooner than we think. I'm sad in reposting this news because Brooklyn
needs its families and homes, and it needs its distractions, preferably of the
welcome kind. This is rather unwelcome:

AIRPLAY:
Submissions (CD, mp3s) must be dated 2009 or 2010. .mp3s can be emailed. Older
CDs will be considered for the rotation but will NOT get a featured debut on
Radio Crystal Blue Novus Ordo (the program devoted to new material). If you
plan to send more than 2 .mp3s at once, please send a CD of these mp3 instead.
Be aware that in 2010 I will be moving and there will be an unidentifiable
period of time where I will not be on the air. If there are CDs waiting to be
spun, I will probably do some extra versions of RCB Novus Ordo to accommodate
all inquiries.

Subject: Dirt Star Walks The Indie Path Through Shenzhen, China

By Eric de Fontenay (MusicDish LLC Founder & Publisher)

Subsequent to my trip to Hong Kong last June for Music Matters, Dirt Star (a
musician based out of Shenzhen in southern China) and I connected through
Twitter. I quickly became interested in this Western expat who started from
scratch as a one-man band, utilizing a modified acoustic guitar with built-in
midi controller for rocking beats in sync with Ableton Live. Over time, he
became a jack-of-all-trades, playing in a number of bands, including a stint as
an electronic DJ, as guitarist and lead singer for an indie rock band, a street
performer, an electronic jazz artist. He's even performed pop songs before live
audiences of over 20,000. Dirt Star now performs in a 3-piece punk rock and has
shared stages with some of the biggest names in alternative music, including the
Dirty Three, Feeder, the Rheostatics, and China's biggest diva, Faye Wong.

Dirt Star (http://www.alivenotdead.com/dirtstar) recently released his latest
project called "On The Street", a collection of nine electronic-garage-punk-rock
songs. The English language album is a departure from his debut album, "The
Score", which featured songs in both Mandarin and English.

Q. So how did you end up in Shenzhen, China?

I'm originally from North America, but I'm an adventurer at heart, and love to
discover new places. I passed though Shenzhen once on a music tour, and fell in
love with the city's dynamic energy and melting pot.

Q. How important is the neighboring live Hong Kong scene for a Shenzhen-based
band? How about the Beijing underground scene, home to 300 indie bands?

It's kind of two separate scenes, but there are more and more crossover
opportunities -- definitely excited to see more interaction between the two
cities. It's great to see how many bands are coming out of Beijing these days.
I've played there in the past and it's always a lot of fun.

Q. Is there a lot of collaboration between independent bands in major Chinese
cities (Shenzhen, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai,...)?

I recently produced an album for a local singer named Liang Ying. On the album,
we collaborated with a bassist in Taiwan, an accordion player from the Ukraine,
and a guitarist in Beijing. We collaborated the whole time with each musician
over the Internet, sharing files using Drop.io, and keeping on top of the
project schedule using Google Sites. Each of us uses our own personal studio
setup - either Pro Tools, Nuendo, or Ableton Live. With more and more computer
savvy kids in China every day, it's really going to be an area that expands
exponentially.

Q. While your first album featured a mix of Mandarin and English songs, this
latest release in primarily is English. Why the English focus? Won't this make
it harder to connect with your fanbase?

Actually, I think creating in multiple languages has helped me to expand my
fanbase. In the future, I plan on doing a CD with both an English and a Mandarin
version of each song.

Q. Where else have you played in Asia? What most differentiates music fans in
the various Asian countries you've toured?

I've played on festival stages in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Taiwan and Hong
Kong. And it may sound cliche, but it's really true - fans in each place I've
played share a common bond that transcends all their differences.

Q. We've all heard of the scourge of piracy in China? How does an indie
musicians such as yourself manage to survive?

Piracy is definitely bad for CD sales. On the bright side, the new music economy
that we see today has allowed for a lot of musicians to get exposure that
wouldn't be possible otherwise.

I really believe that if a young musician can get their act together in China,
there's a great opportunity to get paid. For example, Liang Ying currently has a
30-city tour in the works. 30 cities! The big rewards are going to be found in
other growing parts of the music industry, especially in live shows, licensing,
creative sponsorships and touring.

New York, November 24, 2009 - Boston singer/songwriter and guitarist Reed Waddle
can add another notch to his guitar strap after his Grand Prize winning
performance at the New York Songwriters Circles
(http://www.songwriters-circle.com) fourth annual Songwriting Contest finale at
the venerable Bitter End. Reed's soulful performance of his single "Piece By
Piece" brought New York's music faithful to their feet and ultimately captured
the votes of the blue ribbon panel of judges assembled.

"I am so thrilled to have even be selected as a finalist," said Reed Waddle. "To
win such a prestigious contest is a dream come true and to be honest it really
has not settled in yet, I am truly elated. I can't say enough about the New York
Songwriters Circle, it is rare that you meet so many amazing musicians."

Taking home second place honors this year was another Boston-based
singer/songwriter and jazz vocalist Julia Easterlin for her unique single "Go
Straightaway." Clara Olman, of Nashville, TN, secured third place for her single
"Song For Ruthie," which infused phrasing from renowned 20th century classical
French composer Claude Debussy Claire de Lune.

"Reed's performance and the way he presented his song was clean and of a very
high professional caliber," said Tina Shafer, Artistic Director for the New York
Songwriters Circle and host of the contest. "He completely impressed everyone
with his smooth voice and is definitely ready to breakout into the mainstream."

Serving as judges for this years competition were Grammy Award winning
songwriter/producer/legendary rock performer John Oates, Grammy Award winning
producer Russ Titelman, Q104.3 Jonathan Clarke and many more.

Reed will be receiving $10,000 in cash, a performance spot with Grammy Winner
John Oates in Aspen, CO, a top of the line Gibson acoustic guitar, an
opportunity to record with Grammy Award Winning Producer Glenn Barrett and a
guest spot on Jonathan Clarke's"Out of the Box" radio show on New York's Q104.3.

Past winners of the worldwide recognized New York Songwriter's Circle annual
Songwriting Contest include such notable performers as Kate Voegele, Company of
Thieves and Mieka Pauley.

The magical night of original and unique music came to a conclusion when John
Oates took to the brick walled stage of the Bittern End and performed his Grammy
Award Winning song "She's Gone" to cap off an event that will not soon be
forgotten.

Sponsors for the 2009 Songwriting Contest include: Gibson Guitars,
sonicbids.com, broadjam.com, Ascap , BMI, , Sesac, MorningStar Studios, Dubway
Studios, 795 Records/Denise Rich Publishing, Blue Light Digital Sound and
onlinegigs.com.

The New York Songwriters' Circle:
For over 19 years, the New York Songwriter's Circle has been producing and
directing bimonthly shows at the legendary Bitter End club, in New York City's
West Village. The Circle has launched the careers of notable artists such as
Norah Jones, Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Vanessa Carlton, Gavin DeGraw, NYSC
songwriting contest winner and regular on "One Tree Hill," Kate Voegele, Company
of Thieves and Chris Barron. The circle has quickly become one of the most
popular music events in Manhattan, attracting not only the best up and coming
songwriting talent from around the world but also top music industry executives
looking to discover "the next big thing". Currently The New York Songwriter's
Circle hosts live music showcases across the country including New York,
Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles as well as an educational "Loft
Series" dedicated to supporting, nurturing and empowering artists in this new

Michael Cornell (director) and Tracey Paleo (executive producer) team up to turn
musician Kameron White's music into visual form. White is the lead singer and
composer of the Los Angeles band, Rukas Juice. After hearing Rukas Juice's "Live
My Life," Cornell and Paleo began to develop and create a video that would take
in all the senseless chaos of the economic crisis and spit it back out with a
rock-and-roll twist in this smart and witty wake-up call.

Watch "Live My Life" on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr1zgrhfJdA&feature=youtube_gdata

Reviews:
"Michael Cornell was inspired by the upbeat positive music and lyrics of "Live
My Life" and the contrast of the financial crisis that gripped America suddenly
in 2008 to create the music video."

"A security camera 'capture' of what's really going on when no one else is
looking."

"Mr. Cornell was inspired by the Rukus Juice song, Live My Life, and how it
actually related to the concept of American Freedom. He felt that connecting it
visually to the TARP controversy would be an interesting way to explore what has
transpired in our economy, government and society."

"…offers a light handed, free-spirited look at the collapse of American
Capitalism, that is part "Alice in Wonderland" and part Oliver Stone's "Wall
Street," in the rock and roll music video "Live My Life."

Classical music is considered the root of all music genres. Our contemplation
and respect helps us appreciate music's ability to touch and carry our soul.
Every artist, has a direct connection with the grassroots level and the capacity
to inspire hope, healing and progress.

Medical, Veterinary, Legal and Performing Arts encompass the true meaning of
"ARTS INTEGRATION INTO EDUCATION" and mission of promoting the arts as a vehicle
for solution oriented strategic planning and development, on the community
level, in every United Nations member country.

In the spirit of collaboration, Humanitarian Resource Institute

Reminding you to update your browser/cache as I have a new look to the Radio
Crystal Blue website. To find the new pages, simply go to 'navigate this site'

From this week's pair of shows: Engine Room Recordings well represented with new
music from Israel Darling, The Bloodsugars, and Middle Distance Runner. Excited
to share music from Beth Bombara & The Robotic Foundation, whose sound is
classic alternative rock (by 'classic' I actually mean 'authentic', as if it was
1990 all over again). Kate MacLeod is another great new addition. On RCB proper:
Spun more new music from a favorite new band, The Love Me Nots, plus more from
Porter Block (Engine Room again!), Siobhan O'Malley, Jessie Murphy In The Woods,
Carla Ulbrich ("One Good Song" recorded as part of a medley of tunes referencing
bad song ideas), and a new CD by Elaine Lachica. On the last segment there was
a loose theme about humor in music which suddenly segued into NYC, then TX and
eventually Mexico. It was only after reading the playist I saw the connection
with places and numbers in most titles. Favorite segue: Kris
Delmhorst-Jodelle-Marina V. But, really, do listen to the whole show. Only 4
more shows left for 2009.

Not much on the radio front this week otherwise, but I have some highlights:
Saw Robby Hecht for the first time, performing at Zebulon Cafe in northern
Brooklyn NY, along with Todd Livingston and a bearded Jagoda. Betty Soo (strong
alt-country talent from Austin TX) sang backing vox on one song. I was on hand
to record the event, and do pics and video throughout. In the audience were FOR
(Friends of Robby) Gretchen Witt, AJ Roach, and Nels Andrews. AJ captured Jagoda
with a Chihuahua-in-arms outside the venue for AJ's "Cursing Kerouac" podcast.
Not sure why anyone wants to curse the man, but anyways...

Last night (Thursday) , I took a sudden opportunity to do photos for a singles
event curated by ParadigmShift www.paradigmshiftnyc.com Thanks go to Meredith

Tonight (Friday), attending a show at the wonderful Starving Artist Cafe &
Gallery, out there on City Island in The Bronx. Joe Iadanza takes the stage.
www.joeiadanza.com www.starvingartistonline.com From where I live, it's worth
the 2.5 hour trip via public trans.

Saturday: Just got invited to see The Shells, a femme-led pop-country (billed as
'cosmo country'...small 'c') group, with Scott Stein the guy doing keys. They're
playing at Ulysses Folk House in Lower Manhattan. Mr. North follows!!

I'm seriously considering getting a new monitor on top of my job search and the
increasingly desperate push to finding a home outside of the NYC limits.
Speaking of homes...2 industry people I know have lost their dwellings, for
varying reasons. One of them has the idea of establishing an artists' residence
in NYC. Can you support and help build/fund such a residence? Let me know.

Subject: Audio Fidelity Releases Blues Breakers and Rod Stewart Albums in 24 Karat Gold C

November 18, 2009-Culver City, CA-England gave rock music some legendary
performers and many are household names such as Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart.

Marshall Blonstein and Audio Fidelity have been unrelenting this year as the 24
karat gold releases keep coming from their vaults. Two more classics have just
been released and they will surely sell out quickly because of their timeless
popularity.

Blues and rock enthusiasts can now enjoy John Mayall with Eric Clapton Blues
Breakers and Rod Stewart's Never A Dull Moment in Audio Fidelity 24 karat gold
CDs.

It was fitting that Mayall's first release in 1965 had one of the all time great
blues players become a part of history with him. The album had such a huge
impact that people were compelled to write on walls everywhere "Clapton Is God".
Blues Breakers includes all of the original album art in a see through slipcase
cover. In addition to the attention to detail in reproducing the original
release, the masters where committed to disc with the original mono sound. A
highlight of this release is Clapton's recording debut on lead vocals on the
track "Ramblin' On My Mind".

Another legendary blues rock performer, before he became a pop icon, was Rod
Stewart. Two albums defined this period for Stewart, Every Picture Tells A Story
(1971) and Never A Dull Moment (1972). This time out Audio Fidelity is
introducing the classic Never A Dull Moment. Meticulous detail was in order for
this release and so much that the original album artwork created had to be
individually inserted by hand into the CD case.

Rock and blues fans will be salivating when they hear Stewart favorites such as
"You Wear It Well" and "Twisting The Night Away" in the crisp and clear Audio
Fidelity sound.

Many more great releases are scheduled for release over the next few months but
collectors are encouraged to get their copies now of these classics. Every run
is limited and numbered for these special 24 karat gold releases. Visit the
Audio Fidelity website for more information and options for ordering.

New York-based electro disco duo Koko Dozo announced that they signed a deal
with Red Star Records, run by former New York Dolls manager, A&R/record producer
Marty Thau (Suicide, The Real Kids, The Fleshtones). The label will release Koko
Dozo's debut EP in March 2010.

Koko Dozo truly is music for the Space Age. It's ultra modern and it's made
using the latest technology and olde skool organic matter. They're beaming up
sound waves that vibrate in the key of GROOVE, dipped in the house special
surreal sauce. Urban organica. Celestial demonica. Yeah...Space Is The Face.

Amy Douglas & Polarity/1 are from planet Koko Dozo. What planet are you from?
They discovered Earth on Feb. 23, 2008 when Nacotheque hosted the release party
for their debut, ILLEGAL SPACE ALIENS on subTEKst Recordings.

Polarity/1, multi-instrumentalist/arranger/composer/producer, makes songs
without borders and beats for curved dancefloors using REAL SPACE-AGE COMPUTERS!
In his laboratory cave, he grinds shards of lost cultural artifacts, barks and
growls of ghosts in machines and luminescent sarcastic spaghetti. Then a pinch
or two of the house special surreal spice. P/1 has four cult classic CDs of both
electro-folk songs and all-instrumental electronica on subTEKst including
Audioplasm, a duo project with Rubio. He also composes for film and for
performances by Battery Dance Company and Quorum Ballet of Lisbon.

Out of this smoking brew flies Inter-Galactic Empress Amy Douglas who vaporizes
the earwax of her victims with four and half octaves worth of nuclear acid lung
power. She's a punky songwriting funkette who sharpened her teeth on earth at
downtown NYC legendary music haunts and has worked numerous legends from George
Clinton to the late great Illinois Jacquet. Her most recent venture was Red Hot
Mama, a Hard Rock Vaudeville Show which featured wild cabaret rendi-tions of
hard rock, punk & heavy metal classics. From jazz to funk to punk, there is
nothing her tongue hasn't touched.

By Eric de Fontenay (MusicDish LLC Founder & Publisher)
2009-11-12

The music industry in China has significantly changed over the past couple of
decades, from a tightly government-controlled propaganda pipeline into an
increasingly powerful and sophisticated economic sector. Spearheading the way in
China's entertainment industry is Kenny Bloom, music veteran of over 30 years,
and Founder and CEO of VisiTek Holdings, Ltd. Born in New York City, Mr. Bloom,
at age 56, has accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime, and he has
no plans of slowing his pace. To say that his list of accomplishments is
impressive would be a gross understatement.

A winner of the Lincoln Center Award for Music Achievement at age 15, Bloom
attended both Julliard and Manhattan Schools of Music Prep Departments. He
joined Atlantic Records in 1977 (a subsidiary of the Warner Music Group) and
launched KB communications in 1984, one of the first entertainment marketing
companies. He formed a joint venture with China Film (China's film monopoly) in
1988 and secured the China license for the Warner Music library, which led to
the first foreign owned PRC record company since 1949. Over the years, Bloom
went on to produce numerous radio shows, television programs, concerts by
internationally renowned artists, soundtracks, and Broadway plays. He is widely
recognized as a major player in the entertainment industry.

One might wonder if Bloom would be ready to ride on his reputation for a while,
coasting through the years to come after having such an illustrious career. But
nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, Bloom is moving faster,
striking harder with a bold strategy to become a leading content producer.
Leading the charge is MOGO (http://www.mogo.com.cn/), a video site covering the
emerging independent music scene in China to the young, hip (undeserved) urban
music consumer.

I had an opportunity to interview Mr. Bloom regarding his past, and his vision
for the future. It was one of the most enlightening, thought provoking, and
inspirational interviews I've ever had the pleasure of doing.

Q: You've had over 20 years experience in the Chinese music business, beginning
with the launch of Warner Music China. What are some of the unique
characteristics that have shaped its development?

For one thing, massive piracy. The only business left now is ringtones and live
shows. That said, there are more artists now then every before. 20 years ago
there were half a dozen big pop stars and 4 rock bands. Now there are scores of
pop stars and well over 300 working rock bands.

Q: So what's sustaining that growth in the face of piracy?

Basically, live shows. The entire industry is going through a global transition.
China is no different in that regard.

Q: There's been a lot of talk about the recent WTO decision opening the Chinese
market to more Western entertainment, including music. The RIAA reaction to the
decision was to state: "Enhancing the ability of the U.S. creative community to
do business in China will generate needed revenue and jobs to the U.S. economy."
This seems to fly in the face of the piracy problem. But having said that, do
you believe that the decision will at least result in an increase in the
international repertoire's share of the overall market?

China's music market has a 98% mandarin language repertoire. It's what they
like. The WTO decision is certainly not going to change the musical tastes of
the Chinese consumers. And why should China embrace western music in a language
they don't understand. Does the West embrace Chinese music? That's a totally
open market. This has been an inane concept for quite some time, that every
market has a pent up demand for Western culture. In a way, it sends a very
disturbing message that "your culture is not as relevant".

Q: Let's discuss the latest western invasion in China - Google's oPhone vs.
Apple's iPhone, China Mobile vs. China Unicom... While the iPhone launch in
China thus far has been disappointing, it is turning into a new platform being
seized by indie bands and labels to release content and manage their fan base.
How will the smart phone impact the Chinese music business?

It will be a long time before smart phones are in the hands of the "average"
Chinese consumer. They are just too expensive to have a huge impact outside of
business applications.

Q: But, the Chinese are super-status oriented and there is an upper-middle urban
class. Why, when these products are launched in China, would they not be
successful - especially with 400 million mobile users?

Even with 400 million users, you are talking about a relatively small percentage
of the population who are upper-middle urban class. Out of the total population,
maybe 3% can be classified as such. And they're not necessarily listening to
music, certainly not Western music.

Q: Pepsi has been making big moves in China with their nationally televised
Battle of the Bands "Vox Rock" and launch of their music label QMusic. Is Pepsi
really serious about supporting the independent Chinese music scene? And if so,
is this a model that will have legs in China (i.e., might we someday listen to
Tsingtao's latest buzz band)?

It is essential that corporate sponsors support the music industry. We are now
seeing more of it focused on rock and hip-hop. But we also need local media to
embrace those musical styles in order to build the consumer base. Otherwise,
sponsors won't be able to quantify their investment in music that is outside of
the mainstream.

Q: Isn't QMusic much more than sponsorship? They're talking about developing and
launching new bands, like Starbucks Hear Music.

Let's see what they do. It's still too early to make judgments as they have not
yet started their operations.

Q: I have one final question for you. Mogo is something of a 21st century
MTV-like pioneer in China. You are creating original and professionally produced
WebTV content (not user-generated), in support of the emerging independent scene
(art, music...). That's difficult enough in the West. What are some of the
unique challenges you face – the consumer, the government, advertisers?

It's China's own home-grown music TV station and all parties have been very
supportive. The biggest challenge we are facing is finding qualified staff.
Every company has problems finding experienced workers. Don't forget, the modern
era of China is only 30 years old with most of the development coming in the
past 10. The word of the day is "patience". It will all happen, but it will
happen on China's terms.

Url: http://www.eurosonic-noorderslag.nl

EuroSonic Noorderslag is Europe's biggest and most important live music industry
conference and showcase festival and following on from the success of artists
such as Ida Maria and Casiokids this year's edition will focus on Norway. Taking
place in the Netherlands from 14th – 16th January 2010, EuroSonic Noorderslag
will transform the city of Groningen into a melting pot of Europe's best new
European talent, ready to be discovered by both music lovers as industry
professionals.

Each year EuroSonic Noorderslag focuses on a particular European country
featuring performances by the best artists and dedicating conference topics to
its music industry. 2010 will be the year of Norway. With its vibrant music
scene, Norway offers a wide variety of the best music, ranging from hard rock to
pop, from indie-dance to Norwegian metal. Confirmed artists so far are: Audrey
Horne, Bernhoft, Donkeyboy, Monolithic and Rockettothesky.

In addition to the Norwegian focus, over 200 bands from all over Europe are
scheduled to play at the event, all hoping to impress the festival promoters and
booking agents in the audience. Confirmed acts include; Agent Fresco (IC), Choir
of Young Believers (DK), Deolinda (PT), Everything Everything (GB), Go Back To
The Zoo (NL), Gφsta Berling Saga (SE), Jasper Erkens (BE), Joensuu 1685 (FI),
Lee Everton (CH), Lucy Love (DK), Moke (NL), Rigby (NL), Sliimy (FR), So I Watch
You From Afar (IR), Svjata Vatra (EE), Tim Knol (NL), Waylon (NL) and Wickeda
(BG).
As the exchange and support of new music in Europe is one of the main goals of
EuroSonic Noorderslag, the special European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP) was
introduced in 2003. Each year ETEP brings together the leading European
festivals, radio and other media and stimulates them to `exchange' a selection
of artists. 2009 set a new record! 214 shows, with 75 European artists from 18
countries performing at 54 ETEP festivals in 20 countries. A grand total of 965
shows by 346 European artists since 2003. More information at http://www.etep.nl

Acts that have gone onto success and gain numerous festival gigs after
performing at EuroSonic Noorderslag include; Blood Red Shoes (GB), Goose (BE),
Kaizers Orchestra (NO), Lykke Li (SE), Pete Philly & Perquisite (NL), Seeed
(DE), Yelle (FR) with the White Lies (GB) clocking up a massive fifteen bookings
from ETEP member festivals.

"We didn't feel any pressure at EuroSonic Noorderslag this year. At the end of
the day, it doesn't matter what job title each member of the audience has, they
are still potential fans and still have the ability to be moved and excited by
your music. The whole event is in the beautiful town of Groningen and has a
great vibe that comes with all early shows in bands careers. It just so happened
that after our show, some of the audience became fans and thus asked us to play
on some of the festivals and shows that they book and that was very flattering.
From that show we were allowed to discover some beautiful areas of Europe over
the summer. Parts of Southern Norway, Sweden and even as far as the Czech
Republic and Poland. We feel lucky to have played, and proud we won some new
fans." Charles Cave, White Lies (GB)

'EuroSonic Noorderslag is an important event for any band who wants to get
gigging in mainland Europe. Tonnes of fun and seriously worthwhile.' James Yuill
(GB)

"EuroSonic Noorderslag is one of those weird showcase things you do but feel
uncomfortable about because it's crawling with music industry types and not many
real people, a bit like SXSW. But much like SXSW, if you do a good job of it,
you get some way cool stuff out of it. We found that we got offered a lot of
good festival slots and started to sell out our Dutch club shows really quickly
after doing it, so I reckon it was worth it. It's also in a really fucking cool
town." Blood Red Shoes (GB)

"It's quite simple: we made a car called De Staat, and EuroSonic Noorderslag was
our ticket to the freeway. Sure, we've done our share of dirt roads, playing
local bars and small festivals. People might have heard of De Staat, but
EuroSonic Noorderslag really got the thing moving. After our showcases we
started playing clubs, and before we could hear one bird whistle, we were set
for the summer. Festivals like Pinkpop, Lowlands, Dour, The Great Escape and
Sziget are now gigs we can proudly brag about." De Staat (NL)

Hollywood, CA-November 17, 2009-When B.B. King told Arthur Adams "I love the
spirit in your guitar playing," you knew that the bluesman was on his way.

With the release of Stomp on the Floor today on the respected blues based label
Delta Groove Music, Arthur Adams has positioned himself perfectly to satisfy his
current fan base and gain legions of new listeners.

Adams says "I've done Stomp The Floor exactly the way I feel it. It's all me;
not all traditional blues, not all R & B, not all jazz, but a little of all of
it."

Although blues is the foundation of the new release the eclectic approach to the
recording will allow it to crossover and bring a much broader based audience
than one particular genre is capable of.
Arthur Adams was born on Christmas, 1940 in Medon, Tennessee. He made his debut
in church at the age of six and he has been performing and recording for
decades. His first album It's Private Tonight was released in 1972 and Stomp The
Floor is his seventh solo release after enjoying the success of the critically
acclaimed Soul of the Blues in 2004. It is anticipated the new offering will
continue to garner the same approval and reverence.

"His vocalizing has a sweet, soulful quality ala Robert Cray or at times Bobby
Bland. And his electric six string takes definite cues from his idol B.B.
King."- All Music Guide

Tracks such as "Stomp The Floor", "Don't Let The Door Hit You" and "You Can't
Win For Losing" are destined to become concert favorites and classics of the
genre with the passing of time.

Arthur Adams is larger than life and so is his music. Stomp on the Floor is a
testament to his love for the blues, hard work and the true grit and tenacity to
make each song come alive inside the music.

Axemaster is officially changing its name to INNER TERROR. Although the
name Axemaster has a rich history that dates back to the middle 80's, the
band decided that their new lineup, more modern sound, and greatly improved
writing and performance created the need for a change and a fresh start. A
decision that will allow them to break away from the old and concentrate on
the new.

The band's new Myspace page can be found at
_www.myspace.com/theinnerterror_ (http://www.myspace.com/theinnerterror) .
There, along with the one
downloadable track that was available on the previous page, are 2 newly
uploaded
medleys that contain clips of 6 songs that will be included on the CD "The
Inner Terror".

Announced as part of several new features, including We7 and Spotify links, the
every genre, every angle music platform has been growing in popularity since its
launch earlier this year.

"Premium content is and will always be our focal point, but having the addition
of quality content pouring into Rivmixx from all over the web will add another
layer of engagement for our community," explained MD, Danny Mac.

Not only does Rivmixx provide at least twenty news worthy features each month -
that's more than many magazines produce in a year - it also puts forward all the
latest albums reviews, the latest technology tried and tested, cool websites
offered up for perusal and now, as well as its own hand penned news, it provides
aggregated news from the most popular music sites in every genre. Blues, reggae,
jazz, country, R&B, hip hop, dance, rock, pop and other all have their very own
sections, all of which run a steady stream of news from the most popular sites.

"We7 and Spotify links have now been added to our editorial too," continued
Danny Mac. "This allows users to stream their favourite artists whilst browsing
Rivmixx.com"

Any album, feature or news item mentioned within Rivmixx links through to the
tracks on Spotify or We7 - allowing music fans to not only listen to the latest
music for free, but also get the information surrounding them, professional
reviews and a chance to add their own comments. In many cases there's interviews
with the artists themselves too and the opportunity to become a fan and then
receive all the artist's own news, blog posts and video/track/image updates.

Any fan that signs up to Rivmixx automatically gets their own 'mymixx', which is
an individually tailored magazine that's produced by the artists - latest news,
music, videos, blogs and events - and includes the latest news and album reviews
as posted by Rivmix itself. It's another, unique magazine created by the fan for
the fan, produced by their favourite artists.

Rivmixx, which launched earlier this year, has been growing steadily, in
content, design, and communication. The company has proved itself as something
of a taste making voice too, with several hot new acts – including Florence and
the Machine, Speech Debelle and Toddla T - profiled and channelled through
Rivmixx, going on to find serious success within the industry.

Chart topping artists such Chase & Status, The Flaming Lips and Robbie Williams
are also featured. And now, with the addition of this new aggregated news
feature, musicians from within the country and blues, among other genres, will
be catered for too.

From album and new music technology reviews, interviews, festival specials,
ticket giveaways, exclusive audio and video content, to hot off the press news
updates; every detail is carefully designed by a team of leading music industry
professionals to provide users with an unrivalled music resource.

Interested users can sign up to http://www.rivmixx.com using their facebook
accounts, or create a new, unique, tailored profile.

Brooklyn, NY, November 17, 2009 - Brooklyn recording sensation LaKid Wise is
setting a new standard for the musical genre we call "Hip-Rock", the fusion of
rhythmic and poetic rap with hard, edgy and guitar-filled rock. While working on
his debut album, LaKid Wise is releasing a promotional giveaway mix album titled
"Enter The Movement" available for direct download on
http://www.TheHipRockStar.com as of November 24, 2009.

"Enter The Movement" will feature original works such as "Hustler", "Breaking
Down" and various renditions and tributes to classics such as the late Michael
Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and the Beatles' "Yesterday". America's listeners
have been waiting for something different to hit the airwaves. Although Hip-Rock
had its years of rise with acts such as Limp Bizkit and Rage Against The Machine
it has never stayed consistent with today's top charts. It is a substantial
challenge to revive this genre and keep it stable but this mixtape stands as a
great starting point.

"Bringing two of the most influential genres together is not going to be easy
but with the support of the people, anything is possible," says LaKid Wise.
"Music is universal. My work is about more than creating a unified sound. It is
about sending a message."

LaKid Wise has been composing music since age eleven. Still rocking at
twenty-one, he has drawn creative inspiration from the great artists we know in
modern entertainment. From immigrating to New York City as a young child,
interning at Roc-a-fella Records as a high-school student and releasing two
independent albums in his teenage years, LaKid Wise is stepping outside of the
box to redefine commercial music.
