We were very lucky to have Don, one of New Zealand's finest singer
song-writers, produce our latest album *Honky Tonk Angel*. And his
amazing band did a brilliant job backing us on all the songs. We had so
much fun making the CD we thought it would be a great idea to hook up
and perform some live shows in fantastic outdoor venues. You can expect
a double-value show, suitable for the whole family (cheap tickets for
kids). All the usual trademarks of a Topp Twins show will be in the mix,
plus Don's delivery of Kiwi classics such as Anchor Me and Bathe in the
River. So see you amongst the vines !
Don is also touring some wineries with the Topp Twins this summer. Choice!

That's a very cool pairing indeed. Where have you folks seen the confirmation
that Don's the support act? I'm going to put the links on
www.areligionofakind.co.uk, but that eventfinder link (and Don's own site) don't
make any mention.

Thanks, I ordered the Stroke CD on release day, hopefully it'll arrive in the UK
before Christmas (a gift for my wife, who is crazy about Chris Knox).

Yup! got tickets for that no prob.
Its a testament to Don innit, esp as he's a relatively frequent visitor.
I'm hoping Chris can pursuade Don into a bit of improvising at Happy or Fred's?

Tickets went on sale yeasterday andd I went to get some after work but Don's
show was already sold out ;-( My own fault for not being a Friend of the
Fest - for the first time since 1988 - but to be honest they have sent us so
much gump begging for sponsership etc the last few years that we resolved to
just go to the acts and foresake the advanced ticket chance. More fool me on
this occasion!

Hey, everybody. I'm making a mix CD of some of my favourite EPs, and I'm
including the four-track Heater single (it's the closest thing to a Mutton Birds
EP in their discography). I'm making artwork for the disk, and I want it to be
a collage of the covers of the 5 EPs. Could someone scan the cover of the
4-track NZ release of The Heater (in fairly high resolution) and send it to me?
Or if you know of a place to find it on line, just send me a link to it? I'd
really appreciate it...
thanks,
Mike
ps: For the curious, here's my EP mix:
Ned's Atomic Dustbin - The Ingredients EP (4 songs)
The Mutton Birds - The Heater (4 songs)
Longwave - Life Of The Party (5 songs)
Midnight Oil - Species Deceases (4 songs)
R.E.M. - Chronic Town (5 songs)
That comes out to 79:49, just short enough for one CD...

Is there any way of hearing the Bellbirds if one is stuck in a chilly
English winter? Anything online yet? I'm very intrigued.
"The Sun Came Out" is pretty good, I think. Always bound to be a bit
patchy, given the nature of the project. I think Don's songs are the
stand outs.
