Hey,
This is my first post and I just wanted to say how much I love My
Favorite. I've been interested in the group since I first heard The
Informers in the late 90s on a CMJ Compilation and have tediously
tracked down the first CD and all the EPs and really grown to love
them a lot.
Is anyone else totally enamored of this group besides me? Shouldn't
they be bigger than the Beatles? Ok..maybe not that big, but bigger
than No Doubt? Definitely. Anyway, I just wanted to post a message
here because since I joined there have only been a couple of posts
and I really want to hear other people's thoughts on the band. I've
tried turning a couple of my friends onto the band, and have gotten
lots of indifference (from musical morons of course) and a few 'hey
this band is really cool' comments (from the kids in the know).
The meat of my post, is that I love the way that the remixes on the
new compilation totally made me re-evaluate some of the songs. The
best of the bunch, for me, is the Leisure Enthusiat's remix of "John
Dark". I guess the reason I love this version so much, is because the
EP version was something of a dissapointment for me originally. I
thought it was kind of slow, plodding and boring. On the remix,
however, I recognized how wonderful the lyrics were..not to mention
the vocals. And put into a pop electro context! (I'm a sucker for a
synth).
I hope someone else out there loves My Favorite as much as I do.
Now I just need to find a way to convince them that they need to come
to New Orleans!

Michael

PS..A couple of the songs on the first disc sound remixed from the
original EPs..Is this the case?
