Hey Michael -
I do not think you are alone in your MF devotion here :)
I can't think of another "indie" band out there that sounds as focused and
sincere to me.
Listening to all the tracks on "The Happiest Days of My Life", the songs seem
even more devasting then the individual EPs - it's just one brilliant song
after another after another. And the nerve of them to put all the slow ballad
songs back to back in the middle! Gutwrenching. Granted, it took over 3 years to
get all these songs done and produced perfectly, but listening to them all
together you start to realize how extraordinary this collection of songs (and My
Favorite) are.
>>PS..A couple of the songs on the first disc sound remixed from the
original EPs..Is this the case?<<
Yeah, John Dark and Badge were remixed and touched up by Peter Green (Double
Agent head honcho). I think the version of John Dark improves on the original,
giving it a bit more meat. The new "Badge" has an extra layer of gloom on it
that fits well into the context of listening to the compilation, but I prefer
the original version. Perhaps because it is more compressed and immediate :)
Well, I just popped in the remix disc, totally forgot how good the Double
Agent remix of "Suburbs are Killing us" is!
