WELKome to the Yahoo! group honoring the beloved Myron Floren, the most recognizable – and possibly the most acclaimed – accordionist in the world. (Some would say the best accordionist of all time, and I'm not disagreeing.)

With his Scandinavian wavy hair, fast fingers and heartwarming grin, Myron came to prominence primarily from his regular appearances on the weekly Lawrence Welk Show, where Lawrence often referred to him as "the happy Norwegian." But Myron also performed separately as a headliner, with as many as 150 dates a year. Slowing in his 80s, he found it necessary to curtail his career.

Believe it or not, Myron was self taught.

Sadly for us, Myron died on July 23, 2005, following the last of several brave bouts with cancer. He spent a life as a straight shooter dedicated to using his musical gift to bring happiness to the rest of us. His music lives on in his many recordings and in your heart, my heart and those of his thousands of other fans.
