I just love Janet Klein.. vaudevillian ukulele chanteuse extraodinaire. I found
two great
realaudio clips on her site.
They are both located on her "Showtime" page.
http://www.janetklein.com/web/vaudframeset.htm
The first, and located at the very top is her instructional video of "Tonight
You Belong to
Me".... be prepared, it's in the old A D F# B tuning with a capo on the third
fret.... being the
kind person she is, she gives you all the chord finger positions. And true to
Vaudeville...
she gives you a little sing-along screen to follow her with, on you own
ukeulele.
About half way down the page is a funny old time looking clip of Janet singing
"Yiddish
Hula Boy".
I remember going to the movies as a kid in Los Angeles and Seattle and seeing
black and
white "shorts" just like "Yiddish Hula Boy". I was even lucky enough to see an
actual
Vaudeville show at a theater (Palomar) that once stood where the downtown
Seattle post
office stands now.... I feel very lucky and have a great fondness of this period
of
entertainment. Janet Klein is someone to watch.
If you live in or near Los Angeles.... you must try to catch one of her shows.
