I discovered a great site with all sort of ukulele.. 'How to's'... give a few
days to catch up from my trips down the coast.. and I'll put them all in a
folder.
On my travels this summer.. I went to Sun Meadows in Idaho, Laguna Del Sol out
side of Sacramento, and Lupin in Los Gatos. Didn't even get burned even though
it was hot hot hot. Then I attended Kalama Days in washington state (north of
Vancouver WA)... and burned my wonderfully tanned head to lobster color.
Kalama Days is something to check out... it is the celebration of the joining of
both the Hawaiian and NW indian cultures. John Kalama was a Hawaiian on the
first boat from Hawaii to land on the mainland shores, which landed at Aloha WA
along the Columbia River. He later married an Nisqually indian girl... moved
north to where the city in now... and the town and the river is named after him.
And all this time I thought Kalama was an indian name.

LOOK in the Files section: I updated my beginning handout most of you have.
And with such an update... it has a new name.
4-3-2-1 Easy Chord Method. Or, how to teach yourself to grab a chord easily in
4 simple steps. I also updated the "Beautiful Kaua'i" song sheet with a bit
more strum instruction.
For a sound file of "Beautiful Kaua'i".. that matches our song sheet go to:
http://www.nalt.com/nakedflea/book1snd.html
I am on my way in two days to Laguna Del Sol.. for the AANR West Convention...
then on the 30th I'll see you at Lupin for the Western Naturist Gathering.
Come to my booth, play some songs and say hello.

Well, week one here at GoChords has been very interesting and exciting. We've
received some fantastic feedback from everybody. One thing that many of you have
been requesting is a free trial. You have spoken and we have listened. Please
visit GoChords for a 30-day trial membership. After that it is only $9.99 for
six months! The registration you completed earlier will allow you to login for
the next 30 days with access to all GoChords features.
GoChords is an online tool for songwriting and playing your songs. It has chord
tabs that you can move into position, over your lyrics. You can change the key
of the song and the chords tabs to accommodate different instruments. It's not
just a writing site, it encourages collaboration! You can start or join groups.
The site will be featuring songwriters' videos and we are planning many fun
things!
Please let me know what you think. Please visit and have fun!!!
All the best,

I have just finished building my website called
GoChords that is an online tool for songwriting and playing your songs.
It has chord tabs that you can move into position, over your lyrics.
You can change the key of the song and the chords tabs to accommodate
different instruments.
It's not just a writing site, it
encourages collaboration! You can start or join groups. The site will
be featuring songwriters' (that's you!) videos and I am planning to
have fun contests.
Some of you have written e-mails or posted
questions about finding a site with moveable chord tabs and I think
that this will be ideal for you.
Please let me know what you think. The site is literally hours old, so please visit and have fun!!!
I started a Beginning Ukulele workshop to support my SUPA ukulele group in
Seattle. I use a method I found to teach you how to grab chords very easily...
if you just follow the 4 simple steps.
Uncle Rod's Disappearing Chord Method....
this teaches you the C and F hawaiian vamps, which gives you a total of 5
chords. Also one song, Beautiful Kaua'i, to try most of them out on. You can
find a, not the best, version of Beautiful Kaua'i on youtube.
try itunes... it's worth the 99 cents.
Ukulele Wikiwiki songbook...
2 and 3 chord simple songs
Wikiwiki Doo Wop Songs...
this shows you the I IV V progression of Doo Wop in C, F, G, D and A. Also
some of the more popular songs... Heart and Soul, Dream, Today, Twenty-Six
Miles, Surfer Girl and more.
Here's the link... have fun. http://www.seattleukulele.org/wikiwiki/
I'll be teaching this at various AANR and Naturists gatherings this summer down
the west coast. See you all in the sun.
this is a nifty jpg... that tells all that "yes we can"... you'll find it in the
Files section.
Also go to Youtube and google "ukes for Obama"... they have a song.
It's been 6 months since my last post... sorry, I hope to improve this year
promise. Here's
my offering of peace.
One of the best song books around with oodles of music, and the one that got my
local
uke group up and going, is the Santa Cruse song book. Here's a pdf link of over
207
pages. This book is over 5 years old... but the songs are still good. Go to
the Santa cruise
website.... they may have a new book out by now.
Go to http://www.nashukes.com/playalongsongbook.html
Then select "Play a Long Songbook".... best to download to your drive... rather
than open.
Also, my home group SUPA.... has a bunch of pdfs and sound files to share... go
to
http://www.seattleukulele.org/members/
happy strumming

I was perusing the Blue stone Folk School website my friend William B sent me...
who's also a
nakedflea member... and as things go... I found this link of "Top 50 Ukulele
Sites" from
Boatpaddle Ukuleles.... check them out.
http://www.boatpaddleukuleles.com/top50/ Top 50 sites
http://www.bluestonefolkschool.org/index.html Blue Stone Folk School
We have a few new members so once again.... I'll show the way to some of the
free music tab
and chord sheets that SUPA puts out....
Here's the SUPA link...
http://www.seattleukulele.org/
and just add "members" to the end of this link.... and you'll find a treasure of
music

OK... you can blame Franklin, cause he started it.
As some of you know I belong to a group here in Seattle called SUPA (see the
links file)....
well, here we are at this years Folklife Arts and Music Festival.... check this
out.
I am the happy uke man with the shaved head in the second row on your left,

Is there any hope that performers from this group will be at the Eastern
Naturist Gathering in Massachusetts this June? There is a talent show where
naturists perform for each other, and it would be a fine thing to see and hear
some Naked Flea expertise.
I promise to participate as a loyal and appreciative member of the audience.
http://www.naturistsociety.com/events/index.html
THAT was good! Well, what goes around
comes around. Remember how I volunteered you for the talent show at LDS?
Someone remembered that I play and volunteered me to perform at an upcoming
event on June 1st here in Northridge. I better get crackin’!
To update, I am OK. Had the triple bypass
on Halloween last year and am now better, lighter, and just as cantankerous as
ever. We just got back from a trip to Germany for a couple of weeks, and I
will regale you soon. I only took about 800 pics!
Hope all is welll with you and yours, see
you soon.

Thanks Bill.
It's worth repeating over and
over again...... If you don't
forward anything else, forward this!!!!
EISENHOWER IN DACHAU It is a matter of history that
when Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower,
found the victims of the death camps, he ordered all possible
photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding
villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the
dead..
He did this because he said in words to this effect:
'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because
somewhere down the track of history some bastard will get up and say that
this never happened.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to
do nothing'.
This week, the University
of Kentucky removed The
Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offended' the
Muslim population which claims it never occurred.
This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the
world and how easily each country is giving into it.
It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.
This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the 6
million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900
Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and
humiliated with the German and Russian peoples looking the other
way!
Now, more than ever, with Iran, among others, claiming
the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world
never forgets.
This e-mail is intended to reach 40 million people worldwide!
Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around

I will be going in for heart surgery on October 29th.
It’s a little scary, but I think I’m pretty tough (some of you know
this first-hand!). I should be in the hospital for 5-6 days, and then
recuperating at home for awhile. This will obviously cut into my social life a
bit, but I expect I will be my usual rambunctious self at some point in the
near future. For my flying buddies, don’t worry, others will cook and
feed you. For my uke buddies, don’t worry, I will be up and playing (and
maybe even horrifying) people in the usual manner. For my other music and
drumming buddies, it may be just a little bit longer. My guitars are a bit
heavier than my ukes, and drums will be a bit hard to hit. And for the rest of
you in other clubs I belong to and rely on me for food at events, well, you
will just have to find another source or just go hungry!
In any event, it will be awhile, but I should be back in
full regalia at sometime in the near future.
So the REAL reason for this missive is………..
Please understand that I will not be able to respond to
emails for awhile. I appreciate all the humor and info, but I will not be able
to deal with all that I usually get over the course of a day (20-30 pcs!) I
know you want to brighten my day, and I really do like the stuff, but please
curtail your enthusiasm for a few weeks. I will keep you posted at to my
progress.
Hi Fred buddy
Good to hear from you... I was thinking about the
