I'm not sure if this is you current e-mail account or not. I would like to communicate with you about some changes that are taking place at Sun Meadow Resort and what happen to you during the convention last summer. If you get this e-mail please respond and I will get back to you with all the info.
Nice pics.....and even nicer banjo uke. You fixed it up real good. I have a
30's vintage
Maybell Banjo/uke (made by Slingerland).... it's a lot smaller in size than
yours (at least it
looks that way)... almost too hard for me to play, even though I perfer soprano
ukes... been
trying to sell it.

this new configuration really rocks though... a very sweet sound and all the
volume I need.
... I know I am old... but not that old. Actually my Hibiscus Flea is in the
Flea Museum for all
to see - and the story behind it.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I discovered the Flea museum a few days
ago... it's full of
old, new and unigue Fleas. And yes, the Fluke has its own museum too.
So if you have a Flea or Fluke... and you dolled it up... send them a pic or
two.. with some
info about yourself... you can be famous too.
I promise this will not change the way I treat the little people around me.
My article
http://fleamuseum.blogspot.com/2007/07/custom-pimped-out-flea.htmlhttp://fleamuseum.blogspot.comhttp://flukemuseum.blogspot.com
I just up-loaded (is that a word) photos and spec's of my worked over Hibiscus
Flea or as I
like to call it... my Pimped out Flea. Look in the Files secton.
All the expert work was executed with great precision by my very talented
brother-in-law
Robert, who's a member here and is a very skilled luither in Los Angeles.
Of all the work done... I would highly recommend the Sperzel geared tuners. One
note -
Sperzel was the only geared tuners that we could find, that could fit the
limited space
available on the Flea head. They have allowed, with ease, the most precise
calibration for
perfect string adjustment. The "as manufactured" tuning pegs.. sad to say, are
not so easy to
adjust.
I don't know about you guys and gals... I love my ukulele and it's 4-strings and
all it can
do. But, I must confess I have a bit of guitar envy when it comes to those
fantastic riffs
most guitar players seem to learn in their first week of lessons. You've seen
it... some
pimple faced kid.. with a shiny electric guitar (that you know is brand new)...
and he's all
over the sound waves with Hendrix, ACDC or other rockstar riffs... blowing your
ears out
with all his decibels.
Well, envy no more. I just posted in the "Files" secton a simple picking number
for you to
amaze your friends with. It's called "Europa" and for those that don't know...
it's like the
signature song of Satana and way cool... and it actually sounds better on my
Flea... than
on my Kamaka.
I just joined another Yahoo group (textile).... called
MoonightBeachUkeStrummers.. and
this short handout is from a workshop that Brittni Paiva held for the them... I
think they
are based in San Diego (I will find out for sure later.
So go to the "Files" secton and check out "Europa" and download the pdf of the
tabs... and
a YouTube link to Brittni Paiva playing "Europa".
Speaking of Brittni... this is a little lady... to go see if she comes to your
town.

BTW—GuitarCenter
had a big sale on Labor Day called ‘The List”, so I took advantage

Sounds great! Pat, I can’t wait to play with you at the next public

Go to Taimane's photo page and you'll see she's using a Kamaka... as she says "I
love my
Kamaka"... as do I. As far as her tuning.... send her an email... problem
solved.
Now about Jake.... he's my man..LOL (check out the Photo section).... and most
songs he
preforms he uses GCEA. As does James Hill.. another great uke player. I've
meet and talked
with both and had instruction by James Hill at the Portland Ukefest... for two
years now.

For those of you that have had the fortune or misfortune to have been part of my
beginning
ukulele workshops, you may have misplaced those valuable handouts I gave you.
Or, better
yet, you have a ukulele friend you would like to send copies too.
Well, now you have two places you can find those valuable manuscripts once
again.
First place is right here, in the "Files" section. You'll find a pdf of
"Ukulele Info", "Your First
Chords", and "Beginning Ukulele Song Book". The song book link also has all the
sound files.
If you want to send a copy to non-nakedflea members send them to my off-site
location --
the same booklets and sound file can be found their as well. Other links and
music are their
too....you might enjoy it as well.

Remember... more music links can be found within the "Links" section of
NakedFlea.... you
just have to search for them.
keep uke'n
a few years ago, i picked up a, open-back maple tenor... vintage 1922. well,
last week I
turned it over to a local luthier (Fred Casey) to have a period style concert
scale uke neck
made for it. I had already installed a new fibreskin head but the existing neck
needed a new
fingerboard so I thought.... hmmmm.... this could be a really fun thing to pay
around the
campfire and would blow the guitars away in volume. I always used a piece of
carpet felt
tucked into the back of the pot to tone it down, but we'll have to see what
nylon strings will
sound like.
I'll be sure to post an album when I get it back. check out
www.cfcaseyguitars.com to see
some of the incredible uke he's made.

That's a good question ackroid. I'll copy your post to the fleaMarket's
"Bulletin Board" and
see what they say.
But, for now, I would say do a test. Dab a very little bit of your bug spray or
tanning oil with
your finger.. and dob it somewhere on the back of your flea. keep the area
small... maybe off
to one corner. See what it does. I would think it would be wise to keep all
oils off of any
wood part... especially the painted face.
You could alos opt for a less oily bug or tanning spray.... I am lucky, I use no
tanning or bug
spays. Also winter is just around the corner so very soon you will have half
your problem
solved... no tanning oil needed.

I called the museum
of Making Music to
confirm my reservation on Saturday AM and was told it was sold out as of Friday
before noon. Now why they couldn’t tell me that when I called at 1 PM,

In the "Links" section I've added this clickable to a wonderful online
metronome. I was very
surprised, after hearing a recording of myself playing, how I keep changing the
tempo.
Usually while moving from one finger position to the other. Using this
metronome, has help
quite a lot. Give it a try... it's adjustable... go slow at first.
