David Kenney's Radio show: EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN aired
tonight. The featured artist was Nancy Lamott. As many of you know,
the last weekend of November is when he traditionally has such a
show. My own tradition is to have a hard disk crash also at that
same time. This year I was fortunate enough to hold back the
computer problems and enjoy the show.
Aside from her recordings, the only time I have heard Nancy perform
was on the Regis & KathieLee show. As fate would have it, I was home
the day she appeared on that show and sang a christmas song. She had
little time to say anything.
Tonight I was most pleased to hear her speaking voice during a radio
recording of Moon River. How, I thought, could someone who can
deliver a melancholy song with the accuracy of a heart surgeon have
so much hope and joy in her "natural" voice. The nature of her
spirit was also documented by Michael Feinstein, who told a story of
her refusing to say goodbye from her hospital bed as they talked on
the phone the day before she passed. She was convinced she would come
home.
Should I be asked about the last time I cried when listening
to radio, this show will be the first that will come to mind. Very
well done - nice job - a very big thanks to David Kenney. Check
