Music of Late LaMott and Beechman to Be Featured on Radio
By Andrew Gans
03 Nov 2005
The recordings of the late Nancy LaMott and Laurie Beechman will be
featured on two separate broadcasts of Everything Old Is New Again,
the radio program that airs on WBAI 99.5 FM.
On Nov. 6 the weekly series will pay tribute to Beechman, the singing
actress who was perhaps best known for her lengthy stint as
Grizabella in the Broadway run of Cats and her powerful version of
that show's anthem, "Memory." The radio broadcast, which airs 9-11
PM, will feature Beechman's renditions of "As If We Never Said
Goodbye," "A House Is Not a Home," "If We Only Have Love," "There But
for You Go I" and "Memory."
The Nov. 27 program will salute the late LaMott, who may have been
the finest singer the cabaret world produced in the past few decades.
LaMott's recordings include "Beautiful Baby," "Come Rain or Come
Shine: The Songs of Johnny Mercer," "My Foolish Heart" and "Listen to
My Heart" as well as the posthumously released What's Good About
Goodbye?" and "Nancy LaMott—Live at Tavern on the Green."
LaMott died of cancer in 1995 at the age of 43. Beechman lost her
battle with cancer in 1997; she was also 43.
Everything Old Is New Again — hosted by David Kenney — can also be
heard on the internet at www.2600.com/offthehook/hot2.ram.
I still have 240 unopened copies of her Christmas CD. If anyone
wants to buy lots of 30 for wholesale prices, contact me. Has anyone
seen the Christmas album in stores?

Great to have some discussion about the new CD and wonderful to hear about
the next.
The TOTG cd is my favorite of Nancy's CDs. On David Kenney's wonderful
Sunday night program on WBAI - I had heard Michael Feinstein describe Nancy
as "full of life". I wondered how someone who was so adept at capturing the
darkest emotional moments of life could have such a sunny disposition
herself.
Even after a few months of ownership - I still reach of this cd to listen to
the excitement in her words and the love that she shows for the songs the
recording contains. It's a love I share with her and I am so thankful to
have the new insight into her musical thoughts.
Cheers

Hi all
Nancy will have a new CD out in the fall "ASK ME AGAIN" according to
the forum list on www.NancyLamott.com. David Friedman mentions that Van
Morrison's Moondance will be on this album.
I finally got my "Live at Tavern on the Green" yesterday & loved it.
Bought it at Border's Books, listening to the first cut, & cried in my
car while listening to "Listen to My Heart."
And I am thrilled to see that Team Nancy still exists--how wonderful

Ms. Sharon W., who is working on publicity for the re-release of the Nancy
LaMott Catalogue, is in dire need of photographs of Nancy (preferably
performing) that are not currently on the Nancy LaMott web sites known to us
all. If there are any personal photographs, she would like to receive these,
scan them, and will return them to the owner. If there are scans, she would
like them to be at least 300 dpi or higher, but ANY original scans would be
appreciated!

Subject: [Nancy LaMott] Hello from a new member
Dear fellow Nancy fans:
A friend of mine alerted me that y’all are here, and I would like to join in
the
fun. “I’m So Glad There Are You.”
My name is Panpim Vonkhorporn from Bangkok, Thailand. I became a Nancy fan in
1996 while in school in Texas. A fellow Carpenters fan, Bro Leo Bertelsen, and
I founded a fan club e-mail list called “TeamNancy” in late 1996. We also
used
NancyLaMott.com as our page to provide info on Nancy and to look for other Nancy
fans out there.
I then came home to Thailand and had been offline for about 6 years. During
that time, Team Nancy was still active, though not as busy for the lack of
materials for discussion. Bro John Kanesaw lovingly transferred the ownership
of NancyLaMott.com to Mr.Friedman while still maintaining his own Nancy site at
Geocities.
I came back online around mid Jan 2005 and rejoined Team Nancy. There are now
about 90 TeamNancy members. The old site, with myself as the webmaster (more
precisely, webmistress), was also put back online as www.NancyLaMottFanClub.com,
just as Mr. Friedman suggested.
Is there any one who may have been a member of the paper version of “Listen To
My Heart,” the Nancy LaMott fan club, under Rusty Kransky? Rusty said half of
the letters he sent out had been returned to him. He will send me some articles
from the old fan club archives to be put on the internet fan club site later.
I would like to invite you guys to join TeamNancy list, in addition to your
presence here, that is, if you’d like. Our traffic is not too bad, say 5-6
messages a week. However, I do understand that some of us may be afraid of
getting flooded by e-mail messages. So I think if there is any new development,
I will post here for y’all.
For now, latest news on future Nancy albums, DVDs, and TV movie (yes, there will
be these things!) is at
www.NancyLaMottFanClub.com/news.htm
I am really glad to have found you!
Yours,
Panpim

hi scott- i wish i could help you- i ordered mine from the midder website
-i'm surprised about best buy-they usually have everything-carmela

Wanting to demonstrate my local support for Nancy, I choose to shop
for the new CD locally instead of ordering direct (inspite of the
great sale price!). I have been to the chainstore Best Buy this week
and watched as their computer system was unable to recall info on the
new album (and any other the others). Has anyone been able to
purchase Nancy's recordings locally?
I know that I can order directly -- but I have an independent store
that I like to order from when all else fails and that is where I
will turn unless I can locate a chain with it in stock. Any advice
would be welcome.
Cheers

Merry Christmas everyone--don't know how accurate this is as there
isn't anything on the Midder Music, but was surfing the web looking
for any new info on Nancy's CD. John Kanesaw's web page dedicated to
Nancy list this CD as coming out in early February of 2005!

It was by chance that at 6:30 this morning I brought up your message the same
time that I had Nancy serenading me so I thought I should respond. I hope you
are right. I know there are so many fans out there that are mesmerized by her
talent. Has anyone heard anything current about the TV story they were going to
make about her?
hi scott- what i heard was that there wowuld be several cd's released by the
end of the year-probably in time for christmas- jonathan schwartz, a deejay in
new york and on xm radio said that a few weeks ago and he always ends his
shows playing a nancy song- sorry i couldn't be more heloful- take care carmela

http://www.chrismarlowe.com/
Does anyone play piano like Chris? Its so odd listening - the
playing is so familiar it is too easily to imagine Nancy's voice. No
wonder Nancy's recordings broke my heart - it was music fired from
both barrels - Chris's piano and Nancy's voice.
Recently I have so enjoyed two of the CDs which Chris plays on -
Trust The Wind - Norman Lasiter and Born For You - Kathie Lee. Of
course the songs from David Friedman may in part explain why both of
these recordings are kept at my work desk and help me through so many
hours of work which I later will be unable to recall in any detail
beyond those wonderful songs.
Any more news on Nancy's recordings?
Regards to all.
