HELTER STUPID: Rev. Estus Pirkle, who died last year, was the preacher
of course who kept saying "Christianity is Stupid, Communism is Good".
Wonder where N-land got that clip from? It was from a cult movie
that would put Ed Wood to shame, from what I've read of it:
If Footmen Tire You, What Would Horses Do?

interesting...

THE PERFECT CUT: I haven't downloaded this yet, but the following site
apparently has the "Winning Score" radio jingle "selling" package that
N-land used. Listen on your comp. or download to mp3 player if you
have one:

Finally, on some Negativland shows you hear a KPFA newsreader named
Paula Nelson. Whatever happened to her? Lately, she's been one of
the people trying to get their money back from a certain bankrupt
radio network. (If it's the same Paula Nelson...) From the Sacramento
Bee: "Local broadcasting owner Paula Nelson just wants her money,
close to $1 million by her estimate. How much she'll get -- or whether
she'll be paid at all -- in the Air America Radio bankruptcy
reorganization case remains to be seen.

"Nelson is chief executive officer and president of Sacramento-based
Diamond Broadcasting, which owns radio station Talk City KSAC, 1240
AM. She was named Tuesday as part of a trio representing unsecured
creditors in bankruptcy proceedings involving the liberal-leaning
radio network. Air America filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection
Oct. 13 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

"I hope we can get what's owed to us, so we can move forward," Nelson
said.

(AAR took their network to another station, then...)

"I put a tremendous amount of resources building up their profile in
Sacramento," Nelson said then. "I convinced them they could get a
following. Now, they snub their noses at us and go to another station."

(Paula Nelson can be heard on some Dick Vaughn stuff...like when she's
reading some news items and funny sound effects show up...)
