Hi Peter, it's Adam (adam.k44@...) and they have a contact email thing on the website below.
By join forces I meant moving venue (yet again - and if the RAFA club will have the NJP back!)
and having the NJP night there instead of Northcroft, not nessecarily on the same night as unplugged.
Having said that Northcroft is a good venue - just prices that are a bit steep
but it does have decent parking , everyone knows where it is, it has good sound
and its warm and dry and free. You can advertise Northcroft sessions whereas
the RAFA club was not allowed to advertise as it is/was classed as a private club.
Actually they (Unplugged) are ok about moderate amplification when Gavin and I have played there
and use a substantial PA anyway with multiple mikes etc. and the're open to jazz so sharing their evening
in some way might be ok.
Dave

Hi DaveJoining up with the unplugged lot sounds a good idea, at least if they manage to get their venue sorted out - I understand they're thriving. The only trouble I foresee is that some of us (like you and me!) can't really play with a full line-up without amplification, and I suppose the unplugged people would take some convincing to change their rules. Who would need to be persuaded? Presumably 'Adam' - have you got his details?- Peter----- Original Message -----From: Dave LaingSent: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 8:23 PMSubject: Re: [newburyjazzplatform] Newbury Jazz Platform 9 January
Why not join forces with the Newbury Unplugged at the RAFA (cheap beer)...Hi Folks, Happy New Year and all that.
Very much hoping that Unplugged will be back on Friday February 6th 2009. News soon……
Rafa Hall campaign is going well – we’d still like to hear from people interested in putting on community and arts events and activities at the Rafa now and in the future.
You can get in touch about that or simply to express your support at www.newburynewhall.
com Also, please get in touch if you are interested in my almost legendary over-18 drama group, Monday nights, from the beginning of Feb, hopefully at the Rafa as well.
Mucho thanks, Adam

Hi AllSorry to say that the NJP is on life-support at the moment. The last two months hardly anybody came and the 'committee' have been discussing whether it can continue in the same form. Any suggestions about changes which may help would be most welcome. Some of us think the venue is lacking in atmosphere but are there any other suggestions? A pub? (if so which?). Return to Greenham Arts?Friday is not the best night for some people (particularly musicians who often have gigs that night) but what do people think about changing it? What night suits you?It has been suggested that we should arrange that each month a group of the more experienced musicians take the first part of the evening as a semi-formal gig, with a jam to follow. Is this a good idea, and is it practical? Any volunteers (obviously we couldn't pay)?We have another session next Friday 9 January so please come along and support it. The NJP has given a lot of people a lot of fun and encouraged a lot of beginners, it would be such a pity if it folded.- Peter
