Yar! Thanks guys, I am a fan who is going to be studying in Europe
next year, and should have thought to ask think question myself. As an
expansion, how about some reliable venues for catching non-fest shows
in Norway? But I like indie bands more than pop...

... fRoots magazine publishes an annual festival guide to Europe... not sure if it goes beyond september, but it is a good resource (and it's in English)......
