First Annual
THERESA ANDERSSON STUDIES ABROAD
Sweden to Host Students of Violin and Guitar
New Orleans music darling Theresa Andersson, loved for her contagious
and radiant musical energy, announces her first annual Studies Abroad
program to take place on the island of Gotland in Theresa's native
Sweden. Andersson's infectious presence and talent have earned her
the reputation, and multiple awards, as Best Female Performer/Violin
Player/Singer in New Orleans for the past 10 years - which is no small
feat amidst the rich musical scene of the Big Easy.
This year fifteen violin and guitar students will be selected to
travel and study with Andersson and Swedish guitar master, Jan
Ekedahl, from August 4 -16, 2007.
Both artists (Ekedahl is Andersson's childhood teacher, mentor, and
one of the pioneers of folk guitar in Sweden) will teach instrument
technique, music theory and composition with a focus on Swedish Roots
Folk Music.
The first leg of the trip will feature a relaxing seven-day music
studies program at the Gotland Folkhögskolain in Hemse village on
Sweden's famed Gotland island. Classroom instruction by Andersson and
Ekedahl, single or double dormitory accommodations and all meals will
be included. Andersson has personally arranged the itinerary to
include outings and daytrips that will enhance the experience.
The final leg will begin with a 3-hour ferry voyage from ancient Visby
to Stockholm where our group will be free to explore the historic city
individually or participate in organized group diversions.
Accommodations include 3 nights in Stockholm.
