The new Frifot CD, Flyt, is now in stock!
The super-group of Nordic roots music returns in 2007 with another
fantastic release. Per Gudmundson, Ale Möller and Lena Willemark
pretty well define the new folk-movement in Sweden, and this release
finds them returning to a rougher, rootsier sound. Highly recommended.
Back in stock:
Ale Moller Band - Djef Djel
Nothing that has ever come from the hands of Ale Möller has been
anything less than brilliant, in my opinion, and this one continues
his exploration of the Swedish ethos in the global continuum. Now
well-seasoned sextet of musicians from all over the planet, they are
in sync with each other's ideas and exploring new applications of
their roots in Sweden, Greece,Mexico, Canada and Senegal.
And don't miss Ale's duo recording with Ali Bain, Beyond the Stacks
Also just in:
Lisa Rydberg & Gunnar Idenstam - Bach på Svenska
Lisa Rydberg (baroque violin) and Gunnar Idenstam (pedal organ) play
music of Bach in medleys with traditional folk tunes
Alamaailman Vasarat - Maahan
The 2006 release by this amazing Finnish ensemble (The Hammers of the
Gods) presents a clash of ideas from rock, folk, jazz and the avant
garde, led by brass and wind instruments and a dramatic dual-cello
section. Totally unique.
Mattias Perez Trio - MP3
With focus on Swedish traditional music and a great interest in making
own arrangements and composing new music, MP3 was founded three years
ago. The group has performed together in many different concerts and
dance events around Sweden and abroad, offering vibrant music played
with a lot of joy as well as expertise. The musicians: Mattias Pérez -
guitar, 12-sting guitar, mandola, mouth-harp (Jew's harp); Mia
Gustafsson - violin, voice; Nina Anderberg - violin
Le Vent Du Nord - Dans les airs
The Québec band plays innovative yet traditional music from the
region, with Simon Beaudry (guitar, vocals); Nicolas Boulerice
(hurdy-gurdy, piano, pianoaccordion, vocals); Réjean Brunet (acoustic
bass, diatonic accordion, piano, vocals); Olivier Demers (fiddle, foot
tapping, mandolin, vocals). Excellent, as they always are!
