Hi all,
My name is Eleanor and I know I posted about this on this list
many months ago, but this is a reminder/refresher for everyone
out there. I am currently working on a fanzine for Joy Division and
New Order called Twenty Years Too Late. The idea behind this
zine is the fact that though these are my favortie bands I have no
context in which to place them, and because of my age, was not
aware of them "in their prime". Through interviews with current
bands who cite these bands as influences (which is not to say
New Order is not a current band!), essays, articles and reviews I
want to add to the current community and discourse that exists
around these bands. The idea is not so much to write another
history of these bands, but to talk about how they have influenced
us personally and artistically and discuss their
social/historical/artistic and politcal context! This might sound
heady and theoretical, but I also hope it will be a lot of fun!
So if you are interested in writing a review, essay, memory or
anything else for it, conducting an interview, being interviewed,
and anything else, please get in touch! Also let me know if you
want to be put on the mailing list for when it comes out.
