Hello,
I have decided to change my concept of the proposed art exhibition not
to be solely about the friends I have on Yahoo 360 and bring into the
mix the idea about having a day of fasting on the 8th of August 2008
for freedom not to be in a war, not to suffer famine, not to suffer
discrimination and not to suffer bigotry. It will contain elements of
the personality of my 360 friends I am just putting it into the
context of the Fast for Freedom 08:08:08 campaign
Yes it is wide and open, but, in the end I think most of my friends
who subscribe to be my friend do understand that hatred of another
human being for being a human is wrong. There must be another way to
resolve issues other than using a gun. Remember what Mahatma Ghandi
said '...an eye for an eye leads to the whole world being blind...'
What are the rules for this day of fasting? I don't know but I am open
to suggestions and persuasions. I believe it should be completely open
and have no structure. Why, well why not? As long as we can get a mass
of people making a symbolic gesture of not eating from sunrise to
sunset on 08:08:08 we will have made a point that those who took part
do not buy into the idea that extremism works!
By using the theory of 6 degrees of separation maybe we can get the
whole world to take a stand, some can do it extrovertly, some can do
it introvertly, some will have no choice on this day because like any
other day they have no food to eat anyway, some wont be able to do it
because it will be seen as subversive, however, they can do it - just
not shout from the roof tops that they agree with us.
Remember there is nothing wrong with doing a gesture, Ghandi did it
when he decided to wear a loin cloth and Martin Luther King did it
when he let people hit him when he decided to sit in a diner.
Obviously some people will use the date to gorge themselves with food
as a gesture that this is a pointless exercise - so what let them it
is good to debate these things.
