Ninthwave Records announced the release of the debut CD from Alan
Replcia – "Clockworks, Juliet."
Available from Amazon.com (http://snipurl.com/681c ) as well as
online stores like www.adifferentdrum.com and www.metropolis-
records.com .
The first thing that strikes you about Alan Replica is that voice-
hauntingly familiar. No, this is not some sort of incognito project
from Gary Numan, but you would be forgiven for thinking that perhaps
Clockworks, Juliet is a lost Numan album from 1983. Dark, foreboding,
almost industrial sounds combined with insightful lyrics and pop
melodies make this album unique in the world of synthpop.
If you have had a chance to listen to the first "single" from the
album, "The Machines" (go here to listen: http://snipurl.com/681q)
you will understand why Mr. Replica's music is at once accessible yet
also difficult to describe. He deftly mixes bits of 80s dancefloor
culture with darkwave and industrial, yet rises above the clichés so
often found in those genres.
Do yourself a favor and at least check out "The Machines" and then
check out the album. With a second, even more brilliant album done,
Mr. Replica's future looks very bright indeed.
And to top it all off, check out the haunting artwork (done by Todd
Lemieux at http://www.toddlemieux.com/). Yes, we are looking into
getting posters made!
