Current rate at the Super8 at Shelton is $48.70 per night for a queen size,
$107.44 for two nights total with taxes (AARP).
My truck gets 9-10 mpg. At $4/gal, the total gas cost to take the camper would
be $250. Cost to take the car at 30mpg is $75 (gas)+ $107.44 = $182.44 total.
We're taking the car and staying at the Super8....
High fuel costs are certainly going to be a factor this year, especially at
venues where there is no motel nearby and we have to take the gas-hog truck and
camper. I feel for the folks who lug around the huge motorhomes and
fifth-wheels.
We are going to try to attend as many festivals as we can this summer within
affordable reason, and we're economizing as much as possible on our expenses in
order to be able to do that, but there might be a few that we will have to miss.
Wintergrass is going to be one of those.
You folks who live over there in the west side of the state are fortunate with
the number of festivals/venues that are relatively close to you. We have to
drive 250+ miles each way to go to one...
Looking forward to the upcoming season...
