Just wanted to let everyone know that 6 local NYC a cappella groups (and one
group from California) are featured in Time Out NY today! I'm proud to say my
group, Treble, was one of the groups. It's so great to see a cappella slowly
creeping its way into more blogs, magazines, tv shows and more.

Article includes Treble, Kelso, The Red States, Unsung Heroes, SixPlay and
Conspiracy of Beards.

This weekend is the annual Festival of Harmony. The top high school students in
the region receive a full day of expert training by barbershop (male and female)
teaching quartets.

The culmination of this day of advanced training is a night show that will
feature these students. The male and female ensembles will perform, as well as
select quartets from those groups. Our teaching quartets will also perform.

The teaching quartet for the ladies, AKA, just won their region 15 SAI contest.
AKA is made up of Tenor -Sue Taylor, Lead - Janeen, Summey, Baritone - Harriette
Walters, Bass - Janell Paviolitis

And for the men, Live Session is made up of Tony Colosimo on Lead, Eddie Holt on
Tenor, Mark Paul on Bass, and Rick Taylor as Bari.

Anyone that knows these 8 singers, knows that their performance alone will make
this show worth while.

Best of all, the show is FREE for our a Capella friends.

Please come out and support the works of these talented students and enjoy the
show.

ANNOUNCEMENT
In light of the current world economic situation, and to accommodate the
many people who are interested in this extraordinary workshop, the
length and price of the Tuscany Project workshop has been changed:

TUITION DISCOUNT AND NEW 8 DAY FORMAT
Offered only in 2009!

THE TUSCANY PROJECT
17th Annual International Workshop. Italy
Voice & Song
July 13 - 20, 2009

www.TuscanyProject.com

IT'S ABOUT YOUR VOICE
WE INVITE YOU to join us this summer for an eight-day exploration of the
power of the human voice. Deepen the strength of your own voice through
song, vocal exploration and movement. Soak in the life- affirming energy
of a group of people who share a common passion: to make music and
singing a part of their life (in whatever way, shape or form.)

For the 17th year, we are gathering in the lush green hills of Umbria
for this intimate and intensive learning experience. Participants come
from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. Sing, discover new
friendships, and experience Italy and La Dolce Vita.

IT'S ABOUT SINGING
Blending group and individual work, the project focuses on each person's
individual growing edge and personal connection with voice and song.

• EXPLORE the color, breadth and depth of the human voice; your voice.
• EXPRESS your unique sound through the performance of a song
• CRAFT an authentic connection and make a song "your own"
• ENCOUNTER your fears and face them with new skills
• MOVE & BREATHE! Explore the deep connection between your body and voice
through
   invigorating and creative movement work
• DISCOVER the joy and power of singing in community

This unique project is led by a renowned international faculty from the
vocal, theater and movement arts.

For complete program details: www.tuscanyproject.com
<http://www.tuscanyproject.com>

IT'S ABOUT PASSION
We invite you to dare. We invite you to honor your deepest dreams. Adult
singers of all levels are welcome, from professional to beginner.
Prerequisites are a passion for music and singing and the courage to
take risks.

Singing this summer is not simply the art of making beautiful sounds on
key, but an expression of our deepest life forces, and a vehicle for
discovery of our personal power through the artistry of the human voice.

IT'S ABOUT ITALY
The Tuscany Project (named for the region were the workshops started) is
held in the beautiful 12th century restored villa, Locanda del Gallo, in
the green heartland of Umbria. As you explore your voice and singing,
you will also have the chance to take walks in the rolling hills, swim
in the breathtaking "infinity pool" perched over the beautiful
neighboring valley, breathe in the ever-present scent of lavender and
rosemary, and revive yourself with abundant, freshly prepared organic
foods, served al fresco!

THIS SUMMER affirm your commitment to your own voice in this unique
environment. Surround yourself with an international community of
singers in an environment that fosters your singing and learning.

IT'S ABOUT HONORING YOUR DESIRE TO SING
The project is geared specifically towards those who feel deeply
committed to their voice, and offers the highest quality instruction, a
high ratio of teacher to students, and considerable individual
attention.

TUITION for 2009 is 1,350 Euro and includes instruction, accommodations and
three full meals per day. To check the equivalent rate in other currencies go
to:
http://www.xe.com/ucc/.

NOTE: This is a one-time offering, and enrollment period is limited.
Please contact us as soon as possible, no later than May 10 if you are
interested in this unique opportunity.

167 Orchard Street (b/w Stanton & Rivington), New York City

Tickets: $10 at the door

Featuring Music by 2 Slammin' NYC A Cappella Groups:

The MetropoliTones http://www.metropolitones.com

The Red States  http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Red-States/10006978308

The MetropoliTones

Founded in 2001, The MetropoliTones is composed of alumnae from the “Seven Sisters” colleges. We perform an eclectic collection of tunes both old and new - waxing sultry and sentimental one moment, breaking out the bass and beat the next.

Our recent performances include the Avon Breast Cancer Walk's Fireside Follies, St. John's basketball games (“The National Anthem”), LifeBeat, the International Special Events Society (ISES) Regional Education Conference and a Dress For Success benefit concert.

The Red States

Formed in 2007, The (non-politically affiliated) Red States focus on music that conveys emotions associated with its signature color; anger, aggression, sex, and energy. This group of 11 talented members performs a repertoire of rock, dirty pop and R&B hits made popular by Finger 11, Radiohead, Muse, One Republic, Paramore, Tonic, and more...

We hope to see you at The Slipper Room!

SEEKING MUSIC DIRECTOR/PIANIST
Established, highly skilled, 5 member vocal harmony group (SATB) is looking to
replace our pianist/music director of four years. Group specializes in
challenging, intricate and original jazz/pop arrangements and is accompanied by
piano and, on occasion, bass and drums. Most gigs are paid but all members have
alternate sources of income. Rehearsals are 2 evenings/week in Nyack, NY (30
minutes north of Manhattan).

Requirements:
*Great piano chops--jazz/pop style
*Highly trained ear for vocal harmonies. This is not just about learning notes.
*Leadership capability
*Passion for process, creativity, artistry & excellence
*Sense of humor, commitment & collaboration
*Access to a car.
*Performance skills, singing & arranging a PLUS.

This is a sweet deal for the right person who is looking to work with 4
accomplished singers to create a top level musical experience. And, if you
happen to be an arranger, this offers you the opportunity to hear your
arrangements sung by a quality vocal group.

For more details, please call 914-661-3083.

Treble, NYC's finest all-female a cappella group, will be holding auditions on
Tuesday evening, June 16! Please note that, though we are particularly focusing
on finding lower voices at the moment, we still would like to hear voices of all
ranges! Please e-mail us at treblenyc@... if you would like to schedule an
audition.

Treble is comprised of women dedicated to the art of pop-rock vocal performance.
The group was founded in 1996 by a collegiate a cappella group alumna who was
eager for a musical outlet in the "real world." She recruited a few fellow
talented vocalistas to join her and Treble was born.

Our diverse rock, pop and jazz repertoire includes songs by artists such as Amy
Winehouse, The Postal Service, Pink, Maroon 5, Regina Spektor, and The Police,
among others.

Our baseline requirements are that auditionees have previous experience singing
a cappella music, are able to read music, and are free on Tuesday nights for
rehearsal.

Please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you at
auditions!
