Thanks for joining this brand new group and I hope it will prove to
be a useful resource for fans and performers of a cappella music in
the greater New York area.

Its success will depend in great part from the members themselves to
be sure to use this free promotional and informative tool. Based on
the successful Bay Area newsgroup which, over the years, have helped
sell many a ticket, allowed singers and groups to find each other and
helped keep everybody in the community informed.

There is a lot of great a cappella music in your area and this is a
way to help "connect the dots".

Hi there, all A Cappella fans!

Rich Taylor, here, and I am one of two Co-Hosts of the weekly three hour
radio broadcast called The "APPLAUSE" Show, which eminates from the studios
of WDVR-FM , 89.7 and 91.9 FM from the town of Sergeantsville, NJ
(West-Central part of NJ in Hunterdon Cty). The show features the very best
of Contemporary A Cappella, Vocal Jazz and Barbershop Harmony each week on
Thursday Nights from 7:00-10:00pm (Eastern Time).
WDVR-FM is a member of the public broadcasting industry, with a 5000 watt
stereo signal which reaches from the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania down
through the Lehigh River Valley (Allentown/Bethlehem and Easton areas) into
NJ and the Delaware Valley River region (Northeast Pennsylvania/ NE
Philadelphia) and into the Trenton, Princeton and Lawrenceville NJ areas.
They transmit from two radio towers on 89.7 from Franklin Twp. (NJ) and on
91.9 (Trenton/Princeton area).
The "APPLAUSE" Show is also found on the internet at: WWW.WDVRFM.ORG
and currently has the largest audience of WDVR each week on the internet
with more than 500 listeners listening in since we have been on the internet.
The "APPLAUSE" Show is committed to bringing the finest of a cappella music
to our audiences, and we are committed to allowing perfromers the opportunity
to perform on "Live radio" when theya re in the NJ area. WDVR now has an
intimate performing facitlity called
         "The LOFT@Studio D"
which has seating capacity for 50 people , and where WDVR-FM has invested
$11,000.00 in sound equipment to insure that all groups who perform have
state-of-the-art equipment. The Shows at the LOFT can be recorded for future
broadcast on The "APPLAUSE" Show, OR they can be "simulcast" as the
"APPLAUSE" Show on any Thursday Night.

As an example, this Thursday, October 26th, we will have BALL IN THE HOUSE"
in the LOFT as a live simulcast of the "APPLAUSE" Show. We hope all of you
will listen in at www.wdvrfm.org and email us on-air if you want to make a
comment or request a song. We try and honor all requests when they come in.

Well, that's it for now.... for myself, Dave Stadtmauer (Co-Host), and
T.J.Barranger (Production Assistant), I say thanks for listening in, and let
us know if we can play your music on our show. We will send any group the
policies for submitting music to the show, and we will play any group that
follows the policies of the show. Thanks again

The CD "Live at Saint Peter's" by the John Link Vocal Quintet is now

its authority to sing the music of various genres by performing movie

baritone), Raïssa Dorff (soprano), Kelly Elenwood (soprano), Alex
Greenshields (tenor), and Christopher Renquist (baritone). Each member of
the quintet contributes vocal improvisations, and all but one of the
compositions are sung without words. The CD was recorded in March of 1998

Here's a performance announcement of a composition of mine originally
written for voices:

On November 11th and 12th, the strings of the Old Post Road Orchestra
(http://listen.to/opro), conducted by Neal Schermerhorn, will perform my
"Hymn in G". On Saturday, November 11th, at 7:30 p.m., the concert will be
held at Wilbraham Middle School in Wilbraham, Massachussetts. On Sunday,
November 12th, at 3:00 p.m., the concert will be held at Ludlow High School
in Ludlow, Massachussetts. "Hymn in G" has been performed only once before,
at the October 1999 meeting of the American Composers Forum, when it was
sung by my vocal quintet. I'll be attending both performances and will be
speaking briefly before my piece is played. I'd love to say "hello" to any
of you that would attend either concert.

Hi Jim,

Can I be in the 2001 voices????? :) :) :)

Thanks for your post..and please, listen in some Thursday night.. and Email
us in the studio if you do! We love to hear from you.

Hey would you guys ever think of doing a live shot at our studios in
Sergeantsville, NJ (Hunterdon County near Flemington/Lambertville) ?

We are a public broadcasting station (no budget) so we wouldn't be able to
pay anything, but we do have a performing space called "The LOFT @ Studio D"
which has seating for about 50 people, and an incredible sound system, and we
can broadcast the show direct onto the air as part of The "APPLAUSE" Show.
We have had Hampton Ave, The Persuasions, Ball In The House, Streetheart, and
several barbershop groups on the show live already. We would love to have
you guys live... our audiences would love The Accidentals.

Let me know if that is a possibility...also, have you done any other CD's? I
have attached the station/show's policy regarding submission of music for
consideration on the Playlist.

Thanks for all your great music...hope to hear from you soon.

Yaron:

You should check out Vocal Area Network (www.van.org) for news about all
things related to vocal ensemble music in the New York metropolitan area.
If it's a chorus or other kind of vocal group, odds are excellent that you
can find out about it at VAN.

Best,
dan

Hi.. I'm a 26 yr old male vocalist looking to do some singing in the
NYC area. I am taking vocal lessons and have done alot of home
recording of harmonies, but have never actually sung in an a cappella
group though I would very much like to. Could someone recommend a
group/class/whatever in NYC?

Thanks in advance for any help -
Todd

PS: Demo recordings available upon request; I also play guitar

Hmm. I don't know of any classes for a cappella group singing per se. But if
there are, it's most likely that you'd find something at The New School,
which has an extensive jazz singing and performance program.

Check out the Vocal Area Network (www.van.org) to get an idea of the types
of groups -- and skill levels requires -- that are out there in the NY Metro
area.

A question: do you read music?

best,
dan rosenbaum

Hi Todd:

You might want to check out the Big Apple Chorus, a men's barbershop chorus
in Manhattan. They are fabulous, singing all kinds of music. Here is their

So I was thinking to myself this afternoon... there's the Hyannis Sound, and
Vineyard Sound and probably another "Sound" but there's no semi-professional
summer group on Long Island.  Well, why can't there be?

I am looking to start a small co-ed group to gig over the summer in Long
Island to allow us a cappella singers to keep having that a cappella
experience while we're home for the summer from college (or grad school like
me).  I've got some interested friends who like me, have a whole lot of
contemporary a cappella experience and really want to get a group going.
I'd like to see if there are any people interested in this project.  If you
are interested, drop me a line at dlg3@...

Hope to hear from you.
