Boundless is a newly forming a cappella ensemble made for all that New York City
has to offer. Transcending geographical boundaries, we are a melting pot of
individuals from around the country or across the world who have each come to
this city with a passion for music, a drive for artistic excellence, and a work
ethic to match. Our goal is to become a top-level, six-member ensemble
exploring the limits of what is possible in vocal harmony – cutting our teeth on
some of the best arrangements from some of best previous such groups, with a
long term goal to reach new and original heights of our own.

Our group is almost complete -- but we're currently auditioning baritones and
basses to round out our mix. For this kind of group, each member must of course
be both a strong solo and ensemble performer, but it is not enough to be just a
good vocalist. Each member of Boundless also takes on a leadership role to
support and advance the functioning of our organization, so individuals with
interest and experience in fields such as business, marketing, public relations,
etc., are especially encouraged to audition. Be prepared to commit your energy
and dedication to this project – for although (like typical New Yorkers) we each
lead quite busy lives outside of this group, we also each take this ensemble and
the work required for its success very seriously. And we reap the rewards,
including the fun and the friendship that comes from creating together something
we can all be proud of.

We will start holding auditions this coming Sunday April 15th from 7-9pm.
Sunday evenings are when we hold our regular weekly rehearsals, and we're
looking for individuals ready to start immediately as plan to cut a demo
recording and start performing as soon as May. Long term, our goal is to
perform frequently around the city at paid gigs and competitions.

To sign up for an audition, please email a resume including your contact
information and performance experience to boundless(dot)nyc(at)gmail(dot)com. If
you have any audio/video clips that demonstrate your previous experience and
range, please include those links/attachments as well.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Are you a former collegiate a cappella junkie? Do you stay up nights, bopping wistfully along to old episodes of The Sing-Off that you've still secretly got saved on your DVR? Would your friends say that your compulsion to belt out homemade harmony lines with party music could use a nice healthy outlet? Read on, club members -- read on.

The Current is an emerging mixed a cappella group in NYC, whose musical heart beats for pop, rock, and other contemporary-ish stuff within the cultural soundscape, including indie and original music. Founded in January 2011, we are a twelve-strong group of a cappella-philes -- mostly college group alums -- making moves in our second year on the scene.  What we loved most about our former groups has become our present focus here: high-quality sound, with a large amount of laughs and connection in the process. Taking ourselves seriously, while not taking ourselves seriously -- and performing as much as we can. To date, we've headlined sold-out shows at local joints like The Red Lion and The Triad, and we've also been known to turn up more spontaneously in hotspots like Times Square and Rockefeller Center.

At this time we are looking for 1-4 new members, and will be auditioning all parts. Bonus points if you are also a vocal percussionist and/or arranger, though neither of those skills is required. In terms of demographics, the group is comprised of a wide range of ages, day jobs, lifestyles, and musical tastes -- and we like it that way; all interested peeps are encouraged to audition. If you meet any to all of the following criteria, we will be so excited to hear from you:

  • You are a solid singer who loves to sing
  • You have a good ear for harmony
  • You have a good sense of rhythm
  • You learn music quickly
  • You have past experience with an a cappella group
  • You heart this genre and yearn for a Big Apple aca-posse
  • You have the ability to blend with other voices and hold your own part
  • You like to sing solos and otherwise perform on stage
  • You work well with a group
  • You are directable, yet also willing to contribute
  • You are fun, easy-going, and accountable
  • You are willing and able to commit to regular Thursday night rehearsals
  • You have room in your schedule for gigs and other group-related greatness

Auditions will be held on the evenings of Thursday, June 7th, and Monday, June 11th, in midtown Manhattan, with callbacks for those we'd like to hear again on the evening of Thursday, June 14th. Please email TheCurrentNYC@... for more information and to schedule an audition. If you have a calendar conflict with these dates (or read this post after the fact), other options may be available, so feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for reading -- we look forward to hearing some of your amazing voices soon!

We're about making music, having fun, and keeping an active performance
schedule. We are interested in performing pop, rock, and other contemporary
styles, including originals.

Our repertoire includes songs by
Mika, Rihanna, Sara Bareilles, Fleetwood Mac, and Alicia Keys, among others. We

Amy Engelhart and Jeff Thacher Headline the Second Annual Project-Philly A
Cappella Summer Clinic and Showcase

ARDMORE, PA (May 29, 2012) - Vocal professional and songwriter Amy Engelhardt,
former member of legendary a cappella group The Bobs, and Jeff Thacher, current
vocal percussionist with the equally legendary vocal band Rockapella, will lead
an open master class for all singers and provide on-stage performance clinics
for full contemporary a cappella groups at the 2nd Annual A Cappella Summer
Clinic and Showcase taking place at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA on
Saturday, July 28, 2012.

AMY ENGELHARDT spent 13+ years as the sole female member of Grammy-nominated
vocal "band without instruments," The Bobs, winning multiple ASCAP and ACA
awards for writing, arranging and vocals on their CDs and DVDs and touring
everywhere from Los Angeles to Lichtenstein. She created Rhapsody In Bob for
the band (Gershwin's concerto arranged for piano and vocal orchestra), which
premiered at Wolf Trap and toured with Columbia Artists. Amy's insanely diverse
vocal credits include Danny Elfman's score for Real Steel, Jim Henson's Animal
Jam, Harry Shearer & Judith Owen at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Barbra Streisand's
Timeless concerts, the Los Angeles Bach Festival, Neil Young's Living With War,
The Doctor Demento Show and dozens of professional theatrical productions. Her
solo album, Not Gonna Be Pretty, hailed as "the unlikely marriage of Nellie
McKay and Jim Steinman," garnered multiple Just Plain Folks Award nominations
("The Grassroots Grammys" – LA Times). Amy was recently honored with the MAC
Award for Songwriting (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) and was a finalist for
the 2012 Richard Rodgers Award for New Musicals for her score to BASTARD JONES,
a rock adaptation of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones. A graduate of Syracuse
University and Boston's Berklee College of Music, Amy is a proud member of ASCAP
and AFTRA/SAG, and an honorary member of the Vienna Boys Choir. She splits her
time between New York and Los Angeles. She can be found on the web at
www.coldfoot.net/amy

JEFF THACHER is best known as a 19-year member of the notorious Rockapella
(www.rockapella.com), which continues to be one of the most successful pro a
cappella groups of all time. When not touring the globe with the group, he has
applied his talents as a professional producer and recording engineer on dozens
of a cappella albums, as well as for a variety of other independent artists.
Jeff has been singing and performing in vocal ensembles from a very early age,
and is a co-founder of Boston's pro a cappella group, FOCS (Five O'Clock
Shadow). He holds a music degree from Boston's pioneering Berklee College of
Music, and has given many lectures & workshops on the music industry and careers
in music, as well as his colorful life in the studio and with Rockapella. He's
happy to be joining The A Cappella Project to share the love!

These two accomplished professionals will be offering an open session for all
singers attending the clinic. This open session will feature break-out sessions
with each clinician on a number of topics, and also a practice session for an a
cappella pick-up group composed of the clinic participants that will perform
that evening at the Showcase. Participants will include the three summers-only a
cappella groups sponsored by Project-Philly composed of undergraduate and adult
a cappella enthusiasts. Arrangements for the pick-up group will be provided by
and taught by Shawn Pearce of Value Vocals A Cappella Arrangements
(www.valuevocals.com).

After the open session, Engelhardt and Thacher will provide a live on-stage
clinic for Project-Philly's three summers-only groups and up to five additional
a cappella groups from high schools, universities, and semi-professional
post-collegiate backgrounds. Each group will have thirty minutes to perform and
have their work critiqued by the clinicians.

At 7:30 PM, several of these groups and the pick-up group will take the stage in
our Summer Showcase concert. This concert is free and open to the public, with
donations to Project-Philly's scholarship fund greatly appreciated.

This clinic and showcase is an educational offering of The A Cappella Project -
Philadelphia, a non-profit charitable organization promoting contemporary a
cappella music in the Greater Philadelphia area (www.projectphilly.org).
Resources for this event are also being provided by Value Vocals A Cappella
Arrangements (www.valuevocals.com).

The 2nd Annual Summer Clinic and Showcase is open to the public. Participants
can attend only the open session and observe the group clinics, bring their
entire a cappella group for coaching, and sing in the evening concert - or any
combination thereof! Registration can be completed online at

jazz/rock/popular/original style music to form a new vocal band based here in
NYC. Maybe you loved your college a caqppella group and want to advance your
skills to a new level. Maybe you're seeking a new outlet to grow in your
musical and performing abilities.

We're interested in auditioning singers of all voice parts and/or beatboxers.
Anyone who wants to take an active role in the challenge of forming a new
organization, ready for all the work and drive -- and enjoyment! -- that
entails. Sunday evening weekly rehearsals work best for us 3 founding members,
so hopefully that's good for you too.

Please email nyc.vocalband@... for more information and to schedule an

Out Of Africa, an a cappella concert by Zephyr Vocal Ensemble presenting the
exotic sounds, rhythms, and color palettes of Africa and of countries whose
music is influenced by African music (the Caribbean islands, Brazil, Venezuela,
Cuba, and the U.S.), will take place in Stanhope on Friday, June 15th. Included
in the program will be protest music of the South African anti-apartheid
movement, classical music based upon Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Latin American
dance forms; Jamaican reggae, music of the American chain gangs, spirituals,
jazz, Motown, and a few only distantly-related songs just for fun. Music sung by
a variety of small groups, men's and women's, and full choir.

The concert begins at 8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 100 Main St.,
Stanhope, NJ. A freewill offering will be taken to support both the church and
Zephyr. As a help to African small businesses and artisans, Zephyr will be
offering beautiful handmade jewelry ordered directly from Africa at its
merchandise table. Each purchase goes entirely to support African artisans
through African Home, a Fair Trade Organization based in Cape Town, South
Africa. Bring a few extra dollars to purchase a lovely African jewelry piece for
someone special, and simultaneously do something to support African businesses.

Zephyr, a regionally-performing ensemble, presented six songs on the spring
concert programs of the Ridgewood, NJ-based Orpheus Club Men's Chorus on April
21st and 22nd as a specially-invited guest performing ensemble. Other recent
performances, in addition to its own concerts, have been as special guests of
Basking Ridge's Ridge Light Opera annual A Cappella Jamboree, as well as
EarthFest in Vernon, NJ, An Evening With the Stars Sussex Co. Arts Council gala
benefit concert, Warwick NY's Applefest, and elsewhere.

Zephyr is seeking a qualified bass, baritone, tenor 1, and tenor 2 to fill
current openings, as well as singers in all voice parts for its Alternate List.
See www.zephyrve.org/join or call (973) 400-ZEPH (9374) for more information.

Hey everyone!

A new a cappella group is looking for some new members and will be holding
auditions over the course of the next couple of weeks. Audition times are
flexible -- we'll just be holding them before/during our regular practices.

The group currently has five members -- four guys and a girl. We are seeking to
add two more talented singers at the moment. We are ideally hoping to add a girl
and a guy, but we will be flexible on that issue too. We may accept more than
two (three max) in any combination of voice parts.

Briefly about ourselves: we are an amateur group, but we are hoping to get into
shape and start performing some gigs soon. We have a vocal percussionist already
and we also have a few arrangements under our belts. We're hoping to sing a mix
of contemporary music -- we are currently working on Already Gone (as featured
on the Sing-Off) and Somebody That I Used to Know (as performed by Pentatonix).
We are casual, but all involved are looking forward to making some good music.

If you are interested, please respond back ASAP(!!!) with the following info.

Name: (First only is ok)
Age:
Voice Part:
A Cappella Experience: (Did you sing in college? If so, where? Did you have any
solos?)
Musical Experience: (Can you play piano? Can you arrange music?)
Schedule/Limitations: (Does your job make you travel? Can you practice weekly?)
Other: (Anything else you think is relevant)
