I am the chairman of the fund raising committee for a non for profit
organization. It is imperative that we raise money or we could lose city
funding. We are all volunteers trying to make a better world for the
mentally handicap adults who belong to the organization. We are at the
prsent time negotiating with JOHNNY MAESTRO AND THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE to a
concert on March 25th in Brooklyn, New York. We are looking for an opening
act or acts for them, however, at this time we cannot afford to pay, but any
group who would like the exposure of opening for this well known group,
please contact me and let's see if we can arrange such that will be both
beneficial to you as well as to our organization. You will be doing a good
deed!

Please respond as soon as possible since time is of the essence.

Thank you.

My name is Robert Roman and I sing in a collegiate level Barbershop quartet
named 4B-We. We would like to inquire about the details of this specific fund
raising event, as we would be interested in opening for such a well known
doo-wop group. It is just the kind of performance experience and exposure to
the public that we need, and it is for a very worthy organization. Please
notify us on this matter. On behalf of the rest of my quartet, thank you in
advanced. I hope to be hearing from you soon.

Hi There.

Some friends and I are forming a contemporary a cappella group and
would appreciate any advice you'd like to offer.

At this point, we've expressed our interest in doing it. Kicked
around some ideas for music, and are now negotiating who'd be willing
to commit full time to it.

We're not trying to make money or gain fame, we're just doing it for
the sheer enjoyment of the music and the art of a cappella singing.

anthont@...

Hi… I know this is an acapella egroup, but my band is looking for
someone with strong vocal ability who can execute harmonies well…
preferably someone who can also play either bass or keyboards. The
music is basically pop punk, with influences ranging from NOFX/Green
Day to The Beatles/Beach Boys. I sing and play rhythm guitar, but the
other guys don't really sing.. most
songs have 3 part vocal harmonies throughout, and really need a
second
person who can sing really well.. there are songs where the line
between lead vocal/backing vocals is really blurred!!

Even if you don't want to commit to the band, we would love to have
you learn some songs and play some shows.. we have been offered many
gigs and are just waiting on a second singer -

We have connections and are looking to take this as far as
possible…
If you're interested, or know someone who might be, please get back
to
me. We practice in northern Jersey.. easily reached by the PATH
train..

We have a website at www.pennyroyals.com which have some mp3s that
you can download.. they're songs I recorded at home, but should give
an idea of what we're looking to do..

Thanks,
Todd

Forwarding this announcement from one of the most entertaining a cappella
groups I have ever had the pleasure to see.

Don't forget the Harmony Sweepstakes New York regional this Saturday.

John Neal

Tell a friend! Tell-a-Tubby! The Kinsey Sicks will be returning to New
York's Westbeth Theatre on Sunday March 18 and Monday March 19.

The return engagement follows fabulously successful performances by the
comedic chanteuses at the Westbeth in January, where the divas inflicted
their hit show "Dragapella" upon packed houses, to standing ovations.
Given the large number of obviously tasteless New Yorkers now raving about
America's Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet, interested
ticket-buyers/victims are advised to purchase tickets ASAP.

Tickets are $25, and both shows are at 8 p.m.. For tickets phone:
212-307-4100 (Ticketmaster) or order on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.
.
The Westbeth Theatre is at 151 Bank St., NYC. For more info about the
Westbeth, phone 212-741-0391 or check out www.westbeththeatre.com

Hi all.  I've already posted to this newsgroup regarding the forming of a
summer group on Long Island similar to groups like the Hyannis Sound and
Vineyard Sound.  I've gotten a decent amount of replies and we will soon be
setting up auditions, but we are looking to find some more interested people
so here's the post again:

I am looking to start a small co-ed group with some friends (alumni from the
University at Buffalo Royal Pitches and the Binghamton Crosbies) to gig over
the summer in Long Island to allow us a cappella singers to keep having that
a cappella experience while we're home for the summer from college (or grad
school like me).  I've already received some responses from people
interested in joining who have contemporary a cappella experience and really
want to get a group going.  I'd like to see if there are any other people
interested in this
project.  If you are interested, drop me a line at dlg3@...

Hope to hear from you.

Congratulations to all of the performers at the this year's New York
Harmony Sweepstakes, and especially to the winners, according to both
the audience and the judges: Vox Bop. Congratulations also to
Townsend Belisle for producing such a great event (in just 2 and 1/2
hours, which I believe is some sort of record).

This Monday, April 16th, from 7 until 9 p.m., I will be presenting a
FREE introduction to the Feldenkrais Method in the community room of
Castle Village. The address is 110 Cabrini Boulevard in Manhattan,
just north of 181st Street. The introduction will include several
short lessons on the floor (bring a mat!) to give you a sense of the
variety of movement used in the Awareness Through Movement lessons. I
will also be demonstrating Functional Integration, the one-on-one
form of the work.

The Feldenkrais Method is especially effective for singers and other
performers, in that it can help you to learn to organize yourself in
a freer, more spontaneous way.

Further information about my Feldenkrais practice is available at
http://www.mp3.com/JohnLinkFeldenkrais.

I hope to see you tomorrow night!

John Link

So you have been suspicions about these folk called
barbershop singers. Do they ever sing anything that
wasn't written ages ago? Do they really know how to
do a cappella singing? Can anybody under forty sing
barbershop? Why do they only have four parts?

Well, in less than two weeks, those in the NY area will
have a unique opportunity to understand that it is no
longer your grandfathers barbershop. The combined
championship choruses of The Ramapo, NJ Spotlight Chorus
and the Westchester, NY Chordsmen are putting on a show
that covers as full range of material, some old and some
very new including a fantastic performance from the Lion
King Broadway show, and an eight part version of the Les
Mis show stopper -- "Do You Hear the People Sing".

In addition, a young quartet from Tennessee, Four Voices,
right out of college, will knock your socks off. Yes, we
will have some material that is just a little older,
including two other eight-part performances of
"Lida Rose / Dream of Me" from the Music Man Show and
"I Hear Music". There will be lots of other songs
including: "Climb Every Mountain" from Sound of Music;
"Sing, Sing, Sing" -- the definitive marriage of jazz
and the big band age; "The Birth of the Blues";
"I'm Beginning to See the Light"; "Zing Went the
Strings of My Heart"; and a special DooWap medley.
