exciting new party with a killer lineup for it's
first week. Stats1 is known as one of the best
dancehall DJ's in nyc, but his collection is
deeeeeep and he'll be pulling out the bollywood
and orientalist jeep-beats (i'm not sure what that
means, but it sounds pretty rad) tonight. Mutamassik
beautifully blends Egyptian and other worldly musics
with modern electronic dance sounds in a very not
generic way.

I'm sure you're all pretty familiar with Metro Area by
now, as they have solidified their NYC hometown hero
status. I'm extremely excited to see that DJ Harvey is
their special guest this week. I don't know much about
him, other than he has put out some of the most twisted,
funky, brainfrying disko/rock/house/noise music i have
ever heard (mainly on his Black Cock Records imprint).
He has a reputation as a phenomenal dj who rips up
dancefloors with strangely perfect records.

throw the weekly Aerons & Sofas happy hour party
on Fridays at Openair. They run an excellent
website, and have thrown several really cool one
offs around town. They contribute much to the
local scene, they're really fun, and they're
great DJ's to boot (they have really deep
collections and i'm never sure what to expect
from them, but it's always good).

It's always a treat when Jeff Mills comes to town.
When he has a good night, he's pretty much the best
techno dj i've ever heard. Even on a bad night, he's
pretty damn amazing. Aside from the steep cover charge,
i can't think of any reason to hate Arc, even though i
want to hate it. The staff is very friendly, the sound
system is amazing, the wooden dancefloor is huge, and
the vibe is way way better than any other megaclub
in nyc (the fact that they don't serve alcohol really
helps keep the meatheads away, although it can be a
double edged sword at times).
