forwarded from the [no-dancing] list (another yahoo-group for
people dedicated to changing the nyc cabaret laws).
very important that people show up to this and make our voices
heard!

howdy all,
just got this from the dept. of consumer affairs. it
confirms what we previously noted: there's a day of
panels and a public hearing on cabaret law reform this
coming tuesday, the 24th. see below for details.
if anyone can make it to the panel portion of the day,
please let us know, as many of us are busy during the
daytime and might not be able to make that part of the
proceedings. we have friends on panels, and reporter
friends covering it, but the more viewpoints the
merrier.
most important is for us to ORGANIZE AS BIG A TURNOUT
AS POSSIBLE AT THE PUBLIC HEARING, which starts at
7:30. even if we don't all speak out, sheer numbers
will only help our cause. obviously, anyone on this
list should try to show up, and feel free to forward
this information to anyone and everyone you know to
come on down as well. if we pack the place and
surprise the city with how significant an issue this
is to New Yorkers, it's an excellent first step and
changes the nature of the debate.
i don't want to overstate, but this is our chance to
speak out to the people with the power to reform the
cabaret law!
feel free to contact me, adam or andy with any
questions.
