eclectic ecstatic dance music
This week we are joined by a bunch of old friends. It's
Mercy_Killah's 33rd birthday, and we're thrilled that he has
chosen to spend it with us. He will be laying down some chilled
out ambient and dub on the early side. Also joining us is good
pal and all around amazing gal DJ Shakey, who probably has
more DJ experience than all three Bunker residents combined.
She owns about 9000 records, and as far as we can tell, they're
all good ones, most of which we only hear when she spins for
us. More info on Shakey at www.djshakey.com. Finally, Mr Robb
will take over the decks around 1am and slay us with some
driving techno. Robb runs the Intergroove distro, which means
he has access to the best records before they even get to the
stores (and he has an incredible ear for the good stuff). So he
has amazing records, mixes like you wouldn't believe, and
always has everyone screaming and dancing by the end of the
night.

always a great place to catch cutting edge nyc-based electronic
musicians performing on a sound system way better than
anything else they get to play on in nyc.
from press release:
"These musicians have their fingers on the pulse of today's
noise and aggressive music scenes. Performing solo and as a
collaborator with various New York artists, Clone pours forth a
wealth of original intricate beats and melodies. As founder of the
Isolate Records store and label, Optic brought the world dark
and challenging music from Venetian Snares, Headcrash,
Bombardier, and others. Crito and doily, heads of the Broklyn
Beats label and hosts of the monthly "Barrelled" event, have
been responsible for shows and releases by a who's-who of
broken and experimental musicians, as well as their own
well-received releases. Lance Blisters is known for his
ferocious live/DJ sets, cramming an improbable amount of
material into whatever slot he's given. At "ergonomix 10" these
artists present their vision of modern beat-oriented music."

Eclectic fukt up chillout and downtempo. Great soundsystem.
Very cozy environment.
after staying out late on Friday at the Bunker and saturday at the
ambient roof party (or whatever party you decide to go to
saturday, you have alot of choices), it's gonna be time to chill out
in a major way. Halcyon is a really good place to do that. Borne
aka Scott Vizioli just keeps getting better and better everytime he
plays. Expect dubby techno and house with lots of slippy drippy
soothing sounds in between. Chris Hinkle played his first gig at
the Bunker a while back and it was truly outstanding: lots of
creepy Kompakt style stuff and other weirdness. DP Holmes is
the guitar player for Dub Trio (who are my new favorite new york
city band, catch them monthly at Lucky Cat) and Actual Proof. his
solo guitar sets are quite different than either of those bands;
Fripp and Eno is a good comparison, but he really has his own
style and usually has everyone's jaws on or near the floor by the
end of his sets. Secret Agent Gel is one half of the team behind
the excellent F:T:H monthly at Remote. He wears googles and
white lab uniform when he plays. He's silly, but his music is
dope.

STOP RAVE ACT II
Your Right to Dance Is Under Attack - Again!
Take Action at:
http://actioncenter.drugpolicy.org/ctt.asp?u=41854&l=4021
Earlier this year, backdoor politics led to the passage of the
RAVE Act,
a law that makes it easier for law enforcement to arrest event
holders
for the drug offenses of their patrons.
Now, Congress is at it again. Under the Ecstasy Awareness Act
live
entertainment will receive another threatening blow.
Your rights are in danger, take action now!!
Already the RAVE Act has been used to intimidate promoters of
festivals
and political fundraisers into calling off their events.
Like the RAVE Act, the Ecstasy Awareness Act, could effectively
ban live
music and dancing while throwing innocent people like you in
jail.
In light of the fact that drug use is a probable occurrence at any
musical event, HR 2962 opens the door for any concert
promoter, event
organizer, or nightclub owner to be fined and jailed.
It doesn't matter if they tried to prevent people from using drugs.
Nor
does it matter if the vast majority of people attending the event
are
law-abiding citizens that want to listen to music and not do
drugs.
The Ecstasy Awareness Act of 2003 is another dangerous piece
of
legislation that could prevent you from seeing your favorite band
or DJ
live!
It is vital that voters contact their Representatives and tell them
not
to co-sponsor this bill.
Actions to Take:
** Fax your Representative today. To find our more go to
http://actioncenter.drugpolicy.org/ctt.asp?u=41854&l=4021 .
** Forward this alert to your friends, family, and co-workers.
For more information on this bill, go to
http://actioncenter.drugpolicy.org/ctt.asp?u=41854&l=4022 and
under
"bill number" search for HR2962.
