eclectic ecstatic party sounds
CX Kidtronik used to be in Anti-Pop Consortium and
then Airborn Audio. Dude got kicked out of both bands for
"clowning" on stage (he was just trying to spice up the
show!). Now he's signed to Sound Ink as a solo artist. We
first heard him at Crito's birthday party a couple years
ago at Frank's Lounge in Ft. Greene. He was totally killing
it, going through the entire history of hip-hop and black
dance music in a few hours with incredible style ... our
jaws were on the floor. The first time he was at the
Bunker, he played a little bit of everything and it was
amazing ... he had people dancing to the theme from The
Price is Right. Last time at the Bunker, he just went off
and played one of the best turntablists sets we have ever
witnessed (some people might be faster, but no one is as
creative and out there as CX). He is seriously off the
hook, and after his set, you will be thanking us for
inviting you.
Heat Sensor are the red hot production duo behind much
Sound-Ink's output. They recently released a solo EP and
the amazing Victor Vaughn (aka MF Doom) album, both of
which were aired out frequently this spring at the Bunker.
The Psychic Ills are minimal droney psych rock. Alot
of people compare them to Spacemen 3, which is fair, but
they definitely put their own unique twist on the sound
that S3 perfected. To their credit, Sonic Boom is doing
remixes of Psychic Ills for an EP on The Social Registry,
and was recently overheard praising the band in Other
Music.
Crystal Stilts features members of Icewater Scandal,
who played a great Bunker show a few months back. This is a
slowed down, twangy, folky psych project of the highest
order. Not to be missed.
