eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Excepter are a bunch of jokers. We're not sure how
seriously to take them, but we love their music. Both of
their records are stunning heavy, murky, spiraling tribal
psychedelic walls of sound. We've seen them live a bunch of
times, and (due to the heavily improvised nature of their
performances) they sound like a different band every time.
There are always moments of brilliance, and they are a riot
to watch.
The SB could be 4 people or it could be a lot more,
depending on the time of year, whims, travel details, and
desires of its fluctuating roster. A little bit jazz, a
little bit noise, a little bit folk (kinda sorta)? and a
whole lot of psychedelic complexity. Their recordings are
mostly only available via shows (if you are lucky enough to
get one of the casettes consider yourself special, though
there are CDs and CD-Rs floating around).
We always look forward to visits from our good friend
Porkchop (aka Count Porkchopulous the Disco Vampire). We're
never quite sure what to expect, but it's probably safe to
say he'll bring some disco, garage, acid, and a bunch of
stuff that fits into the "WTF?!?" category (apparently his
favorite).
Larvae are a duo from Atlanta who record for Berlin's
Ad Noiseam label. Thier sound is defined by gritty breaks,
huge basslines, and ill rhythms.
