eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Porkchop pretty much blows our minds everytime he plays
at the Bunker. Dude has ridiculously deep crates, and
incredibly eclectic taste in music (yes, he plays alot of
disco, but he also gets very deep, weird, and beyond).
This time around, he's bringing his pal Akila from Chicago,
who we don't know much about, but Porkchop assures us he is
a badass DJ. This is from deephousepage.com: "Rather than
playing it safe, Akila prefers to remain unpredictable with
his selection, mixing the old with the new as well as a
variety of different genres, a style which has been labeled
as Eargasmic."

Shel is one of my absolute favorite people EVER!
She is the most gracious, giving person i've ever met, and
now she needs our help. You've almost certainly had fun
somewhere in the past few years in NYC because of one of the
many amazing projects/events thats she's been involved in.
Many of you have shown much concern since Shel's accident
and
have repeatly asked what you can do to help. Well, here is
your chance: show up and make a donation. As an added bonus
you will get to have a kick ass time because this is going
to be a fantastic event.
Nurses. Doctors. Medicine. Hospital Food. X-rays. And
other sick stuff to entertain you.
Soldiers of Fortune is an all new band made of Brad
Truax (Broke Review and countless other projects), Kid
Millions (Oneida), Mark Moore (The Ospreys), Pappa Crazee
(Oakley Hall), and Barry London (Jah Division). This will
be their debut performance.
Japanther rocks it like no one can and is graciously
playing this show after an exhausting six week tour!!!
Torch Job began at Burningman in 1999 and has since
turned into a cult punk carnival of three chord
inexplicable
amazingness.
This is a benefit concert for Shel Kimen (kleverVice)
with bands, DJs, and dark humor to raise much needed funds
for her 20 foot fall (March 5th, 2004) from a very high wall
onto very hard concrete floor in the name of art (i.e.
setting up for a big art event/party she got really hurt).
Shel broke her right arm (and has a permanent titanium
plate holding it together), her shoulder, four ribs, her
pelvis in three places, her sacrum (tailbone), lacerated
her liver, and tore open her insides enough to have
blood draining from her chest for two weeks. There's more
but we'll leave it at that...
Shel luckily had health insurance, but it only covered
90% of most of the expenses, less in some cases, and has
bills approaching $80,000 on top of her living expenses,
not to mention many microloans owed to friends and relatives.
She's trying to stay afloat, negotiate prices down
with hospitals, and you know, all the usual stuff. This
benefit and maybe a few smaller ones are not attempts to
pay all the bills, but to keep her head above water.
