eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Jah Division finally recorded something. We've heard it.
We like it. And this is their record release party where
you'll both witness an amazing live set of *very loosely*
interpreted Joy Division through digidub delightfulness and
*then* pick up the 12" put out by our good friends at The
Social Registry. Last time they played at the Bunker, they
invited members of the audience to sing along which may
have been a misguided lapse in judgement, but was certainly
entertaining.
Zea is kleverVice's favorite band. They defy genres but if
pressed one might consider indie pop electro noise with a
twinge of gabber as they blast an incredible stage presence
of leaping and jumping and screaming and turning all red in
the face from emotion. These guys (arnold and remko) NEED
TO BE SEEN. They get to the US only so often but tour
europe regularly and get props from people like John Peel.
We are truly thrilled we get to see them in new york again.
What can we say about CX that we haven't said alreay? The
man is a wildly imaginative selector with incredible
turntablist skills. We keep asking him back because he puts
most of the "DJ's" in this city to shame. His debut album
on Sound Ink will definitely be turning heads in 2005.
It's about time we had Bunker pal Archetype stop by for a
proper set. Archetype has produced everything from
drum'n'bass to downtempo to experimental techno. After his
last (way too short) set at the Bunker, we were blown away
and told him "i have no idea what genre any of those
records fit into, but they were all amazing", to which he
replied "that's the point!". right ... duh.
Safety Scissors from SF is a last minute addition. Not
sure what he's going to play, but really fun minimal dance
music is a good guess.
