eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Japanther is one of our favorite New York bands. Maybe one
of our favorite bands in general. They play a super high
energy peculiar dimension of rock, spinning threads between
pop and noise. Right this moment we're listening to a rare
Swedish Japanther 7" and cutey keyboards bubble atop fuzzy
Jesus and Mary Chain guitars a-la Psychocandy brilliance.
The other side is speedy stereo vocal lo-fi power pop.
Elements of Faust, Joy Division, and The Fall run amok, but
not in any sort of 'derivative' sense. Rather Japanther
spins a whole new world with some solid listening history.
Ever evolving, always spectacular. They are also excellent
humans. Once they said this:
"We built a house from cardboard and bubblegum and have
just been tryin to keep the roof from caving in."
Special Bonus: Japanther is shooting a video at Tonic
tonight, and Thurston will be singing with them!

USAISAMONSTER is another great duo who you need to see.
They are making huge strides in the noise-rock underground,
with a tour with Lightning Bolt under their belts and an
album due out on Load in 2005. They are super psyched for
this gig, as it is rare that they get to play in a venue
with good sound in NYC.

Miracle of Birth is a friend of Japanther who we do not
know too much about. He is a solo drummer with lots of
effects who makes glorious noisy dub. Sounds hot!
Satamile's record label has really picked up lately, with
over 20 releases in the last three years. Satamile has
earned an international reputation as one of the best
modern electro labels. This is all electro, no clash ...
fukt up machine-funk for the dancefloor. Although Satamile
has been playing many gigs around the world lately, he
rarely gets the chance to play in his hometown.

When she's not slaying the Direct Drive drum'n'bass
dancefloors as Doomer, Sara Walker throws down some of the
meanest, funkiest electro-breaks sets we've ever heard.
Now that Filter14 is gone and Static is on hiatus, this is
a rare chance to catch Sara Walker in breaks mode.
