eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Dan Bell is one of the most important figures in the
history of minimal techno. He started out by collaborating
with Richie Hawtin as Cybersonik in the early 90's,
releasing "Technarchy" and other classic tracks. In the
mid-90's, he produced several records on his own as DBX
(including the enourmously successful "Losing Control")
that more or less defined minimal techno. He then went on
to create 7th City Distribution and several new record
labels. In 2000, he moved to Berlin, and has released two
amazing mix CD's and a few remixes since then. He is
currently working on new material and DJing around the
world. His last two appearances at the Bunker were
phenomenal. Dan really loves subTonic and asked to come
back. How could we possibly refuse?

Cabanne is a shadowy figure from the French minimal techno
scene who we do not know much about. We do know his music,
and that's enough for us. He has released some
excellent 12"s, including collaborations with Dan Bell,
Ark, and John Thomas. He was also part of the first Narod
Niki experiment, a live collaboration with Dan Bell, Richie
Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Akufen, Dimbiman and others at
the Mutek festival in 2003. This is a very rare North
American appearance.
Of the many aliases attributed to Orlando-based artist
Travis Stewart (aka Syndrone, tstewart, h8), Machine Drum
is handily the most well-known. Although initially
conceived as an outlet for Stewart's drill'n'bass
meanderings, Machine Drum's first public release was a
hazy, skittering melange that owed more to hip-hop and
ambient than early Squarepusher.
The Band of the Name was born in the Spring of 2002 as a
psychedelic mathrock outfit of sorts. Clint Panney and JT
Almon found themselves playing guitars, and Joey Valdez
took up the bass and even Lane Barrington found his place
seated at the drums. Known for their high energy
performances and occasional staged theatrics, BOTN has
become a favorite act in the Central Florida touring
circuit. This will be their first show in New York.
Rusty Santos is a singer/songwriter based in NYC, His
musical journey began in Fresno as a teenager fronting a
DIY band, Banzai. Santos has released three albums: "Bad is
Good," "Outsie Versus In," and "The Heavens," which was
released this winter on UUAR. In addition to producing his
own music, Santos has collaborated in recording a handful
of records with other New York musicians, including Animal
Collective's latest album "Sung Tongs". Note that Rusty is
playing first since his sound is quiet and we will be
raging downstairs later in the evening.
Jaiko Suzuki, Akio Mokuno and Joe Frivaldi started the
Electroputas in 2000, using their diverse backgrounds and
tastes of music to create elaborate songs, which hint at
noise, avant-garde, psychedelic, krautrock, Japanese
freakout, and no wave material. Their latest album "3" was
released on the Social Registry last fall.
