eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Ariel Pink blends Lite FM and warped lo-fi pop into
something beautiful and confusing, yet highly addictive.
This is the NYC release party for his second album on
Pawtracks (that's the Animal Collective's label).

A Soft Circle is a newish project of Hisham from Black
Dice. We haven't heard him play yet, but have heard many
reports that this is something very special that you don't
want to miss. Black Dice really hasn't been nearly as
interesting since he left, so we're believers.
Excepter are veterans of the Bunker, and they come with
something completely different every time they play. It's
safe to expect something deeply psychedelic and weird. This
is the release party for their new album on Load, which is
reportedly very ambient and un-Load sounding.

Agriculture newcomer David Last has already caused major
waves in the electronic music community with his debut
album. His sound is kind of like Mouse on Mars inna
Jamaican dancehall. We asked him to put something together
kinda last minute for tonight, and he proposed this amazing
trio with Charles Cohen and bass player Matt Pavlkoka.
David is just as good at improv as he is at making beats,
so this should be fantastic.
http://davidlast.net/
Charles Cohen has been playing his Buchla Music Easel for
20+ years, and it's safe to say that he has completely
mastered the instrument. He can basically make any noise he
wants on the fly. He also has an uncanny ability to put all
his bloops and bleeps in just the right place in an improv
setting. Come see a master at work who truly deserves the
deepest respect from all of us.

Leisure Muffin, (Michael Hopkins), has been making
electronic music since the early 90's and his style cris
crosses everything from ambient to electro, hip hop,
minimal house, and dub. Textures, layers, and incredible
beats follow suit with recordings and performances
featuring a careful mix of analog synthesizers, laptop, and
live instruments. He prefers to play live and has
collaborated extensively with many others in fantastic
ways.
Borne just made a killer new chillout mix cd, and we bet
he'll give you one if you show up for his set and ask
nicely. This guy has played at many Undercity and Bunker
events in the past, and has been known to politely destroy
the dancefloor in random livingroom house parties in
Williamsburg. He knows how to put the records together in
an engaging way, so pay attention.
Sean Smith is one of our favorite DJ's, and we're always
thrilled to have him throw down at the Bunker. He claims to
be buying big boxes of new techno records every week
lately, and his taste in music is impeccable, so we're sure
to hear lots of new hotness aired out. You can also catch
him playing in the inimitable Socks and Sandals duo around
town.
For those of you who complain that you never get to hear
the residents play, Spinoza and Movement should get some
rare peak time sets this week.

Dub, cosmic grooves
This is the most excited i've been about a show in NYC in a
long loooong time. Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald aka
Rhythm & Sound aka Basic Channel aka Maurizio aka Main
Street and more are one of the most influential crews in
the history of minimal techno. Rhythm & Sound (their
newest project) is basically the perfect, brilliant fusion
of techno and dub. Tonight they are supposedly playing dub
45s for live guests from the Wackies crew (including Love
Joy) to toast over. I wouldn't be suprised if it's a live
set or something more. They've been known to keep
promotion of their events very low key, once billing
themselves as Tikiman at the DEMF and then doing a full
live BC/R&S set, and another time showing up to play a live
set unannounced at a Chain Reaction party in DUMBO. see
website for details on advance tix as this will almost
certainly sell out.

DJ Shakey, "the girl with too many records",
