The Novay has thrown nothing but good parties so far, and tonight
should be no different. Heartthrob is one of my favorite
producers/performers, and has thrown down many amazing sets
at the Bunker and Wolf+Lamb. He just released his first major
solo record, a 12" on M_nus that is getting played all over the
place right now. He is moving to Paris in a few weeks, and this
is his last NYC performance while he is in town. Definitely
check this out if you've never seen him play. The annoying 2nd
bar still splits APT in half, but the sound system has been
drastically improved.

eclectic ecstatic party sounds

Tonight RJ will be playing a brand new techno set, though far
from typical. Expect a heady mix of beats and sounds and wall to
wall emotion.
"Originally drawn to making music through his love for
improvisation, Praveen has been working with electronic music
since the young age of thirteen ... [his] style is a mixture of
glitchy clicks and cuts, smooth melancholic melodies and live,
improvised elements. Recordings of his own Drumming, Piano and
Guitar performances are incorporated into the songs as well.
Inspirations include Akufen, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Mum and
Xela." - Neo Ouija Website. Tonight Praveen will be DJ-ing and
we've heard his collection is wide and deep, with a special
tech-house set for us.
With probably tens of thousands of records to choose from - old
hip hop, electro, ghetto tech, death metal, house, and um, well
really everything - it's our guess and yours what she'll throw
down. It will be deep, real, and you will not be able to control
your urge to get down, and funky yo. She bridges the divides and
ecstatically at that.

Long time readers will know that Rich is one of my favorite DJs.
Last time i saw him, he was playing mindbending minimal funk at
Oslo in Detroit with Luciano, which was some of the best music
i've heard in a long time. He returned to Detroit on Labor Day
weekend, and i heard reports of total insanity. It's an icky
big club and the cover charge is kinda ridic, but it's been a
while since he's played in NYC, and he might just pull out the
good deep stuff.

set tonight, so watch out.
