For the past two years, Dennis has been a resident DJ at
Robots,
including duties at the other techno party at Cafe Deville on
friday nights. Now that the Robots weekly has ended, we can
finally have one of our favorite local techno DJs throw down at
the Bunker. Spinoza is out of town tonight, so it's pretty much a
Plaslaiko & Rodgers 6 hour tagteam extravaganza!

eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Eats Tapes made a suprise visit to the Bunker last year and
instantly won over the crowd with their primative raw acid sound.
They have since released the "Dinosaur Days" 12" on Strategy's
Community Library label, which was one of the most played records
at the Bunker last summer. Their live set is completely insane:
no laptops in sight, just a ton of analog gear, broken thrift
store toys, and lots of wiggle room for live improvisation. Aside
from being great musicians, Marijke and Gregory are some of the
coolest people we've ever met, so we're thrilled to have them
back at the Bunker.
http://www.eatstapes.com/
Born and Raised in New York City, Drop The Lime (Luca Venezia),
continues his global rise in the underground dance music scene.
Ever evolving in style and ahead of the game, expect four to the
floor bangers spiked with grime and growling bass techno, while
he drops jaws to the floor with his bad boy Sinatra vocals.
Venezia grew up in New York City's underground rave scene, drawn
to the high energy of jungle and drum-n-bass. He began performing
under the alias Drop The Lime in 2003, exploding into the punk
electronic scene known as Break-core, gaining an underground
iconic status. DTL released numerous International singles and
EP's on high profile labels like Ambush, Peace Off, Broklyn
Beats, Mirex, and his infamous 2005 debut, "This Means Forever,"
on Tigerbeat6. From break-core's hyper-kinetic beats and DJ'ing
heavy bass music from grime to Baltimore club and 4x4, DTL took a
floor shattering step into a club massive sound. We've been a big
fan of Luca's sound for a long time, and he even designed a
Bunker flyer once, but this is his very first appearance at our
party. He had the crowd rocking at an upstairs show a few weeks
ago, and his new sound is perfect for a sweaty friday night at
subTonic.

One of our favorite parties of the year at the Bunker was in
April when Seth Troxler and Ryan Crosson took over from midnight
to 4:30. It was total mayhem in there by the end of the night
(see the Bunker photo gallery for evidence). Since then, we've
partied with these guys a few times, including the afterparty
they threw at DEMF ... considered by pretty much everyone who was
there to be the party of the year in North America. We've been
wanting to bring the Lee/Seth/Ryan trio to play at the same party
since we met them, and we're all extremely excited that it's
finally happening. All of these guys are phenomenally talented
and represent what we feel is the next wave of techno coming out
of Detroit. This is the final W+L party of the summer.

Our expert sound guy Markus Miller came to us with an idea that
was too good to pass up: a reunion party for his old DJ crew from
San Francisco. We've heard alot of amazing things about these
guys.
One Track Mind was the first party in San Francisco to import
the raw, gritty, funky and minimal sounds of Detroit and Chicago. The
mix of sounds later parsed out to become "ghetto-tech" or
"ghetto-trax". OTM imported dj's Funk, Richie Hawtin, DJ Milton,
DJ Deon, DJ Godfather, Claude Young, Dan Bell, Heather Heart, and
many more. They even brought in Trans Am to perform live.
Informally the crew consisted of Joshua (Kit) Clayton, Graphic
Artist Nathaniel Hamon (Slang International), Paul Manley,
Director Ruben Fleischer, Warren Parker, Andrew Ingalls, Markus
Miller and Jon Santos.
Tonight we will bring a bunch of these guys together for a
reunion that is sure to be one of the craziest nights we've seen
at the Bunker.

SATURDAY AUGUST 5

we are helping our co-conspirators theDanger.com and Wolf + Lamb
throw what we believe will be one of the parties of the summer tonight.
highlights include a 4 hour techno set by Matthew Dear on a HUGE
soundsystem, an ambient inflatable dome party on the roof, and
dangerous demonstrations from the Madagascar Institute and
others. don't miss this one. details:

***********

The event below is the follow-up to last weekend's epic,
One Night of Fire. Expect all the feverish excitement
from the street party mixed with ample liquor, beats and
beautiful moments that make our wild dreams vivid. Below
is the party you love, because you love danger.

I (heart) DANGER
A 12 hour exploration of art,
indecency and indelicate ideas.
Details: http://www.thedanger.com/iheartdanger

This Saturday, August 5th
9pm through 9am
@ 3rd Ward, 195 Morgan Ave.
East Williamsburg / Bushwick Brooklyn
Take the L train to Morgan Ave. walk 4 blocks North
direx: http://www.3rdwardbrooklyn.org/about_us/directions.php

These nights are about waking the wild inside you. Our
best ideas are the dangerous ones; those brief brilliant
moments that excite our souls and make the burning world
feel possible. This is how we save ourselves: 20,000+sqft
of danger art, stiltwalkers, dancers and dj's, bubble domes,
rooftop villages, liquor and ice-cream and the pleasures we
deserve in these nights of wild fire.

These are things we should not do...

The story of Danger will be told by performance,
participatory projection and mesmerizing music through a
half dozen areas of divergent delights. These are
dangerous moments: Akim Funk Buddha leads an operatic
performance of tabla and body-balancing across the gardens
of good & evil, The Madagascar Institute educates on
home-made pyrotechnics, AdHoc Arts teaches you screen
printing and poster creation, Action/Direction presents
spontaneous feats of the fantastic and Emergency Arts
tempts you with liquor and ice-cream.

This is what it is to be alive...

In the room of Glass:
Old school, afro house, hip-hop, and drum & bass on the
tightest sound system in Brooklyn featuring:
DB (founder: Breakbeat Science), Jesse Mann (No Selector),
dj Winter (SisterNYC), dj fflood (transdubmassiv.com),
Been Jammin' (Gnomes), Vocals by Rhiannon (TheDanger), and
video projections by Benno Klandt featuring images from
last weekend's One Night of Fire.

In the room of Dark:
The best of minimal techno and low-down-dirty beats on the
now infamous twelve point surround sound system featuring:
Mathew Dear (Ghostly : Detroit), eVa (Loft-n-Space), Wolf
+ Lamb (WolfLambMusic.com) and Spinoza (Beyond Events :
TheBunker)

On the Wide-Open Rooftop:
Join Image Node on the roof with live mixed video by The
Housewives' Guide To Anatomy and other VJs, mindblowing
light art, and Space Station Prog an inflatable
wonderland. Ambient and downtempo performances by Sean K
(Image Node), Skillcrane (Image Node), and Ezekiel Honig
(Microcosm, Anticipate).

In the courtyard:
Bar-Q-Que beer and live rabid rock starts at 9pm and
continues through midnight featuring local Bushwick bands
and late-night blue-grass players.

Proceeds from this event benefit the artists, organizers
and musicians who made One Night of Fire possible as well
as Burning Man projects by TheDanger, Wolf + Lamb and
ImageNode.

This is our last event of the summer.
Next fall, TheDanger gets loud.

Eulberg is one of my favorite techno producers. He is a nature
enthusiast (a part time park ranger even), and you can really
hear it in his music. He's someone doing his own thing to set
him self apart from the sea of imatators in the minimal techno
world at the moment. highly recommended.

Over the past two years, Seattle producer Bruno Pronsato has
taken several giant steps toward the peak of the experimental
techno mountain. A sound scientist whose work is equally playful
and rigorous, Pronsato deploys a canny use of space and
idiosyncratically fashioned rhythms to disorient and build
suspense-like some 21st-century Miles Davis or Eric Dolphy of the
laptop. Despite being a minimal-techno artist, Pronsato offers a
palette that's as full of unexpected patterns and meticulously
rendered textures as a Kandinsky painting. Pronsato's
compositions unsettle in original ways, yet they also slyly
tickle funnybones. Often both humorous and erotic, his cuts are
the wild cards that adventurous DJs pull out when they want to
take the dance floor to strange new levels of motion. Therefore,
Pronsato's releases have become elite selectors' secret weapons
of beguilingly baffling quirkiness that still move asses. The
Bunker is proud to welcome one of our favorite artists for his
debut NYC appearance.
http://www.undosounds.com/
Also tonight, we say farewell to our good friend and resident, DJ
Movement. Movement has been resident for almost the entire run
of the Bunker, starting in June 2003 (the Bunker launched in
January 2003). He has selflessly DJed many, many opening slots
when the place was really empty, but always manages to fill the
dancefloor by the end of the set. We love this guy and are sad
to see him go, but we wish him all the luck in the world as he
moves to California to study plant biology at UC Berkeley.

Kenneth James Gibson is a man of many personas, including
[a]pendics.shuffle. Keeping up with him can be a time consuming,
yet rewarding venture into sound. As soon as you think you know
him and can grasp what's going on, he puts on yet another mask
and becomes something else. Always a surprise and never a let
down, he gives us what we want but don't expect.
In 1997, Ken moved from Austin Texas to the big city of Los
Angeles, California. After releasing a few records as Eight
Frozen Modules on various labels such as Trance Syndicate and
City Slang, he gave up the 4 track and guitar for a desktop
computer and software. While taking a few years off from
releasing music, he learned how to create a new world in the land
of computers. After 3 years of not leaving his padded studio
cell, he resurfaced with the 2001 Eight Frozen Modules CD "Random
Activities and Broken Sunsets", a mix of glitched out electro,
techno, and idm for the LA label, Phthalo. Since then, he has
also released music under the names [a]pendics.shuffle, The
Premature Wig, dubLoner, Electronic Music Composer, Reverse
Commuter, Bal Cath, Hiss and Buzz (with Jack Dangers), and most
recently as Kenneth James G., and KJ Gibbs for labels such as
Mo's Ferry Productions, Adjunct, Resopal, Orac, Mineral,
Tigerbeat 6, Proptronix, and Mille Plateaux ... just to name a
very
few.
Currently Ken is living in Echo Park California and producing a
ton of music. He has new releases about to drop on Friends Of
Tommorow, Floppy Funk, Sunset Diskos/ Mitek, Mo's Ferry
Productions, Hallucination Limited, Adjunct, Persistancebit, Orac
and more. He has also just started his own label with Orac
co-founder Konstantin Gabbro, called Adjunct. With Adjunct they
are releasing what they call "computer funk", their own special
brand of funky, minimal, avant-garde techno. The first few
releases have been killer.
We recently caught [a]pendics.shuffle at a DEMF
after-after-party
thrown by none other than Seth Troxler and Ryan Crosson. This was
hands down the party of the weekend, and Ken's live set was the
highlight of the whole weekend for us. His productions are great,
but the live set is completely over the top, and must be
experienced to be believed.

alka_rex, aka Sascha and Eddie, are the "Digital Russians" of
the
NYC minimal techno scene. They released a double album on Mille
Plateaux side label Supralinear last year, a 12" on Musique
Risquee in the spring, and the first Thema EP in July. The new
tracks are incredible, and their live set just keeps getting
better, so expect a packed dancefloor tonight and a bright future
for alka_rex.
Function (aka Dave Sumner and Portion Reform) has been one of the
major players in the NYC techno scene for a very long time. His
series of Substance events at Limelight were legendary, including
guests like Jeff Mills, Surgeon and many other notables. Now he's
doing the Phono series at Avalon (former Limelight) on Saturday
nights, bringing proper minimal techno to the weekend big club
crowd. He's also thrown some hugely successful afterparties at
DEMF the past three years. Aside from throwing great parties,
Dave is a very successful recording artist, label owner, and DJ.
He recently released Sleeparchive's remix of Regis on his
Infrastructure label, and will be releasing a Thema 12" soon.
Lately he has been using Ableton Live to create DJ/Live hybrid
sets full of exclusive remixes and re-edits of heady minimal
music. His opening set for Sleeparchive at the Bunker back in
March was incredible.
Since 1989 Leonard Posso has been a fixture in New York City's
underground music scene. By the mid nineties he had taken up the
incurable habit of amassing a library of vinyl. His name is on
several releases as he has designed artwork for a slew of indie
techno labels from around the world. He started several weekly
and bi-monthly parties (the infamous Brooklyn rooftop/loft
parties, Composition, MILQ & Rebel), where he DJed alongside
numerous respected international and local artists in the
electronic underground music scene. His motivation lies in the
pursuit of engaging the audience to some of the most current and
obscure music available. This year his concept label Thema, a
personal project that's been in the works for some time, is
coming to fruition. After taking a short break from playing out
in New York, Leonard is back on the decks feeling the vibe and
mixing his eclectic bag of tricks.

The last few years have been extremely busy for Jeremy Caulfield.
Not only has his Dumb-unit label seen massive growth
internationally, his own productions and performances have had a
considerable impact on the global techno and minimal scene.
Tricky, stalking and complex, Jeremy's productions follow a theme
that defies the typical stereotypes of today's techno. A
consummate producer, DJ and Live Act Jeremy has toured the world
extensively with a rough, edgy and immediately recognizable
sound. Stalking and complex, Jeremy's productions follow a theme
and sound that defy the typical stereotypes of todays techno. In
the last 4 years Jeremy has released 3 mix CDs, recorded numerous
classic records for labels such as WMF, Trapez and Dumb-Unit,
remixed an impressive roster and impressed many with his crisp
rocking live sets. Additionally, Dumb-Unit itself has now put out
over 30 vinyl releases and awakened the world with a continuously
evolving roster of talented artists. Before infiltrating the
international stage, Jeremy was instrumental in developing
Toronto's rich techno scene in the mid to late nineties. One of
Toronto's most prolific techno and tech house DJs, he held some of
the city's top residencies and was a major force behind many of
the most influential techno movements that passed through the
city.
http://www.dumb-unit.com/
Tonight we also welcome our new resident DJ, who is in our
opinion one of the very best in the city, Derek Plaslaiko.
Aside from Jeremy's live set, it's Derek all night for 5 hours.

Marc Houle's first solo release was an amazing double 12" on
M_nus that dropped in 2004 and immediately turned heads at the
Bunker and throughout the minimal techno community. Marc's Run
Stop Restore collective, which includes Magda and Troy Pierce,
has also released many stunning tracks on M_nus. His unique brand
of jacking minimalism is influenced as much by Kraftwerk and 80's
synthpop as it is by Dan Bell and classic Chicago acid house.
Houle's constantly evolving live set gets better every time we
see him. He has another double 12" coming soon on M_nus, so
expect alot of new material.

http://www.m-nus.com/
If someone was asked what it would sound like if all of the most
frightening, most exciting and sexiest scenes in cinema history
were spliced together and merged with a robotic dance score,
"Tractile" would surely be the reply. Adam Young and Joel
Boychuk, with several years of miscellaneous music experience
behind them and a few years as great friends and
partners-in-crime, decided to reinvent their sound and call
themselves Tractile. Having been obsessed with the concept of
controlling the uncontrollable and seducing recorded sound of any
kind, the name was a suiting merge between the words track and
tactile. Boychuk and Young played their first public live show in
2003 and have continued to shake dance-floors ever since, always
impressing and exciting their audience far beyond expectation.
Influenced by a strange combination of filmmakers like Stanley
Kubrick and George Lucas and the evolution of techno music and
emergence of the minimal sound through artists like Richie Hawtin
and Jeff Milligan, Tractile delivers barrages of demented but
motivating tech grooves perfect for dance floors and at-home
listeners alike. WIth a track on the new M_nus min2MAX
compilation, and more to come soon, you will be hearing about
these guys alot in the near future.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 21

***NOTE: EVENT MOVED FROM LOVE TO SUBTONIC***
Beyond presents
Live: Deadbeat (~scape | Montreal), DJ Olive (theAgriculture | NYC)
DJ: $mall ¢hange (WFMU, Rubulad | NYC)
subTonic
107 Norfolk Street
(212)358-7501
$5, 21+
8p-1a (early show for all of you working stiffs)
Deadbeat is one Scott Monteith, an adopted Montrealer who has
been releasing his own special blend of dub laden, minimal
electronics since 2000, for labels such as Cynosure,
Intr_version, Revolver , and Scape. His work has been met with
consistant critical acclaim from the industry's leading
publications and websites, and drawn performance invitations for
some of the world's most respected festivals, including
Barcelona's Sonar, Berlin's Transmediale, and Montreal's own
Mutek. From 1999 to late 2003, Scott worked, assuming various
roles, for the Montreal based company Applied Acoustics Systems,
makers of the Tassman Software Synthesizer. Having now moved on
to pursue his own musical efforts full time, the experience has
left him with a passion for the development of new creative
interfaces, and a strong grasp of some the most cutting edge
technology in the industry. Whether crafting quirky,
not-quite-dancefloor techno, or rumbling digital dub, Scott
continually strives to create music that honours the past beyond
empty tribute or cultural appropriation, by infusing the digital
tools of the present with a little of the magic known as human
imperfection. Hindered only by the occasional buffer underrun or
synapse misfiring, Scott continues to search for his own unique
voice between the ones and zeros.
http://techno.ca/deadbeat/
The Agriculture founder DJ Olive is one of our heroes, someone
who we give our deepest respect to. Perhaps most well know for
his work with WE™, Olive is just as comfortable improvising on
stage with people like Luc Ferrari and John Zorn as he is rocking
all night dance parties with sweat dripping from the ceiling.
His work has been presented at the Whitney Biennial, the Venice
Biennale, the Brooklyn Anchorage, the Kitchen, and a million
rooftops, parties, clubs, and chillout rooms. He has been
touring the world for years, making brief stops in Brookyln from
time to time, so we were lucky to snag him for this gig. His
live sets consist of deep dubby breaks and backyard jeep beats.
Olive recently released "Heaps As", his 2nd solo album for The
Agriculture. Tonight, he is playing a very special 2 hour set
aimed at the dancefloor starting on the early side, so don't show
up too late.
http://www.theagriculture.com/djolive.html
$mall ¢hange is an insane record collector, DJ, and funky mofo
about town who uses his encyclopedic knowledge of mindblowing
music to pick out the best records (the dude has more records
than
anyone we know, and we know alot of people with deep
crates). $mall ¢hange is always very eclectic and he never plays
anything but incredible records. Tonight, he's focusing on deep
bassy dub in it's many forms, but you never know what's coming
next when this guy is behind the decks. His show at WFMU has
been on hiatus for awhile, but check the archives for endless
entertainment:

Andy Vaz manages and curates Background Recordings, which has
been a major force in the presentation of minimal techno,
introducing and educating the world to the geographic variable
influences that exist within the genre with almost 50 releases
from a very impressive artist roster (Akufen, Stewart Walker,
Oliver Hacke, Portable, Pan/Tone, Sutehk, and Deadbeat to name
but a few). Andy began to release his own music to much acclaim
in 2000, beginning with his Sounds_variation series, based on the
use of the same sounds, re-used throughout, giving each track
another musical approach by pushing each instrument in a
different compositional direction by re-arrangement, toneshifting
and by adding/changing effects in order to demonstrate that a
defined production criteria brings forth maximal results through
the process of limitation within a lo-fi aestethic. He is well
known for tearing it up live, and has live sets documented on his
'Live in Tokyo" CD on Soundvariation and "Live in Detroit" on
Persistencebit.
http://www.soundvariation.de/
Filastine has performed at the Bunker many times, and tonight we
are happy to celebrate the release of his "Burn It" album on our
friend DJ /Rupture's Soot imprint. Filastine plays ridiculous
fukt up lactose intolerant (no cheese) global breaks ... tribal
desert rhythms that crawl down your spine and put your hips in
motion. He has lit up the Bunker dancefloor perhaps more than any
other guest we've had. Sound is action in Filastine's world. He
founded the 20-piece anarchist marching band Infernal Noise
Brigade, conducts guerilla activist interventions with
custom-built soundsystems, and has been gassed, assaulted, or
arrested by police of many uniforms.

The sound and background of Gaiser delves from an upbringing deep
in percussion. Starting out as a drummer in his teen years, he
played with bands behind a kit. What interested him even more
though was experimenting with drum machines and he learned a
balance between digital and real world instruments. Living in and
around Michigan (Detroit for a few years) Gaiser frequented the
music and underground parties from Detroit. Like most artists on
the M_nus label (and let's face it, most of the US techno scene),
Gaiser cites heavy influences from the Plus 8 and Minus events
during the 1990s. His "And Answer" EP on M_nus has probably been
the most played record of the year at the Bunker.
http://m-nus.com/
Plexus is one of our favorite minimal techno DJs, and has been an
integral part on the NYC minimal scene for a very long time. He's
played at some of the better loft parties we've been to, usually
with M_nus labelmates like Magda, Troy Pierce, and Richie Hawtin
(remember when they all lived in Brooklyn?). He broke his collar
bone while snowboarding this winter, and has been in Indiana for
multiple surgeries over the past few months. We're glad to have
him back behind the decks in NYC.

$mall ¢hange is an insane record collector, DJ, and funky mofo
about town who uses his encyclopedic knowledge of mindblowing
music to pick out the best records (the dude has more records than
anyone we know, and we know alot of people with deep

Nicholas Sauser is one half of the duo Socks and Sandals, who
have rocked the Bunker dancefloor many times. Working in a
similar vein to that project, Nicholas makes weird and
fluctuating minimal techno. With one foot planted firmly in the
history of house music, the other is planted gently in a
pulsating future filled with skimmering sonic oddities. Sauser
basically spent the entire month of May in his studio (okay, with
a few breaks for movies and the Bunker) to prepare a new
live set for his appearance at DEMF two weeks ago. This hard
work payed off as the new live set is amazing. Nicholas is
the owner and operator of the Kompakt distributed Goosehound
label, which has made a big splash with the first two releases
(we've already heard everyone from Luciano to Dan Bell rocking
this shit).
http://www.goosehound.com/
Habitrail is Todd Polenberg, who has made both appearances as
both a visual and audio guest at the Bunker in the past. A long
time idm dj and producer, lately he has been working on danceable
minimal techno and breaks. Last we heard him, he got the
dancefloor started properly at one of the final parties at the
now legendary Wolf+Lamb Marcy Hotel space. Todd was massively
inspired by a trip to Mutek last week, so he's approaching this
set with fresh ears.

While most of the die hard minimal techno scene is in a galaxy
far far away at Mutek, the rebel force is taking the opportunity
to turn up the bass and play some tracks you haven't heard in a
minute. We're coming prepared for the night with secret weapon
djs and warped dance music, new and rare.
When we first met Coin Op back in 2003, she was spinning at one
of the small but mighty Record Camp parties at Void. Since then
she has been hard to track down, often playing out for the
discerning heads in the UK and Netherlands, while leaving NYC
behind with the legend of her incredible record collection. We
crossed paths with her again during Rob Hall at our Fuck WMC
party in March, which proved that we can still freak out over a
good set of mind-bending electro and techno. She agreed to make
another special appearance at the Bunker, this time to play.
Egg Foo Young knows electro. Well he should after spending a
good part of his career in Miami, being outdoors and breathing in
all that fresh bass. This exposure led to the creation of Miami
Eyes, a thick bassline and vocoder combo that still blows up
raves and Kendall house parties alike. Egg Foo has releases on
Andrea Parker's label, Touchin' Bass, and with Secret Frequency
Crew on Schematic. He produced a song for a new group in Brazil
called Bonde Do Role and has recently completed a remix for the
band Men Women & Children to be released on Warner in the UK in
July.

Every year, we make the trek to Detroit for the DEMF and then
Montreal for Mutek. This year, we were lucky enough to grab a
couple of the more interesting acts for stopovers at the Bunker
on their way to the big festivals.
http://mutek.ca/
http://demf.com/
Zip (aka Dimbiman) is the owner of Perlon, which has
consistently
released top notch forward thinking dance music since its first
release almost 10 years ago. He's also one half of Pantytec with
Sammy Dee. As a DJ, producer, and label head, Zip is one of the
most innovative members of the electronic dance music community.
He is one of our absolute favorite DJs, and almost never makes it
to NYC, so we're thrilled to grab him for an exclusive appearance
on his way to both DEMF and Mutek.
Jan Jelinek is one of the most well known electronic music
producers in the world. He has released three full length albums
under his own name on Stephan Betke's ~scape imprint, and seven
12"s as Farben on Klang. His deeply creative use of loops and
samples instantly set him apart from the sea of "glitch-tronica"
producers when he arrived on the scene in the late-90s. His
current live show is a semi-improvised representation of his
latest album "Kosmischer Pitch" performed by a three piece band
that includes Andrew Pekler (who recently played a solo set at
the Bunker) and Hanno Leichtman.
http://www.janjelinek.com/
Solids is David Last's (of the Agriculture, Goosehound, and
Unfoundsound fame) new live dub band. They take elements of dub
and apply a slightly more aggressive "wall of sound" treatment,
with glitchy laptop sounds, slinky guitars, and a live rhythm
section.
Wolf + Lamb exploded onto the New York City techno scene with a
series of afterparties at their small Williamsburg club for the
Bunker in the spring of 2005.  These evolved into a series of
packed regular all night parties at the Wolf+Lamb space that went
well into the next afternoon.  The minimal design and comfortable
environment they created was an instant hit with everyone in the
minimal techno scene.  Although they have proven to be very
talented party throwers, at heart, they are really just DJs who
want to play at great parties.  They utilize Ableton Live
software to weave gorgeous sets of warm bath techno, fukt up
ambient, and heroin house.  With a bunch of original studio
productions in the works, a new bigger loft space to host parties
in Brooklyn, a residency at Love, and a new web label, you will
be hearing a lot more about these guys in the near future.

Daniel Bell is one of the most important figures in the history
of minimal techno. He started out by collaborating with Richie
Hawtin as Cybersonik in the early '90s, releasing "Technarchy"
and other classic tracks. Then he produced several records on his
own as DBX (including the enourmously successful "Losing
Control") that more or less defined minimal techno in the early
to mid '90s. He then went on to create 7th City Distribution and
several new record labels. In 2000, he moved to Berlin, and has
released two amazing mix CD's and a few remixes since then. He is
currently working on new material and a live set and DJing around
the world. His past appearance at the Bunker have been
phenomenal, and we're very psyched to have him back.

Tonight is the record release party for Tony Rohr and Dietrich
Schoenemann's new "Deleter of the Pack" 12" on HIdden Agenda.
http://www.hidden-agenda.com/
Dietrich Schoenemann is a central figure in the history of US
techno. He was a founding member of Prototype 909, who were one
of the most popular acts in the 90's US rave circuit. Since then,
he has produced a ton of tracks, some of them international
anthems. He also runs two successful labels, Hidden-Agenda and
Remains. As if that isn't enough, he's done collaborative
projects with Abe Duque, Taylor Deupree, and the Rancho Relaxo
Allstars. With good pal Tony Rohr and a crowd of rowdy NYC
friends and fans in the house, the energy is sure to be through
the roof for his DJ set.
http://www.hidden-agenda.com/dietrich_bio.htm
Tony Rohr is one of the most interesting producers in techno
today. Movement and Spinoza used to bug out in the Jerz over his
earliest tracks on Hidden Agenda in their early days of spinning
techno. He continues to push the envelope and has been putting
out quality tracks for many years now. Tony has a become an
extremely successful touring artist in Europe and around the
world. Tonight he plays a live set for the hometown crowd.
http://www.hidden-agenda.com/tony_rohr_bio.htm
Part of the Santiago-based duo Detalles (whose debut LP found a
home on Traum), native Chicagoan Kate Simko has been making waves
as of late with her solo live performances. In 2001 Simko moved
to Santiago, Chile to study composition, where she met her
partner in Detalles, Andres Bucci. The result was the duo's 2003
full-length album "Shapes of Summer" which received critical
acclaim from magazines such as The Wire, XLR8R, and Urb. 2005 was
another busy year for Simko, with her return to WNUR, a couple
new residencies in Chicago, another Detalles LP completed, a
remix of Phillip Glass on the Glasscuts compilation, and a new
project for Chocolate Industries. Her opening set for Steve
Barnes at the Bunker in September was outstanding, and we are
thrilled to bring her back!

Guillaume Coutu Dumont is one half of Egg, who have appeared
twice at the Bunker. Tonight he presents his new solo project,
Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts. Through his close affiliation with
the Mutek organization, Guillaume has performed all around the
world, including appearances at some of the biggest Mutek events
in Montreal. He's opening for Akufen with his new duo project
Luci at the Guggenheim earlier in the evening as part of the
First Fridays series. Tonight's Bunker is the official afterparty
to the Guggenheim event, so expect a large Montreal posse to
invade the space around 1:30am.

Christopher Willits is a musician and multimedia artist located
in San Francisco. Striking a delicate balance between acoustic
and electronic sounds and systems, Christopher manages to defy
genre distinctions while still defining a "sound" unto his own.
His numerous solo releases and collaborations cover a broad
spectrum of musical styles, and include one main commonality:
Willits' unique use of the guitar with custom-made signal
processing. This home-brewed software, along with Willits'
6-string prowess, generates a unique real-time mixture of
improvised melody and rhythm. Willits' guitar lines and harmonies
fold into each other. Notes and phrases hook and weave, creating
complex patterns of interlocking rhythm, melody, and texture.
Willits' has a vast range of collaborations he is involved in,
with artists such as Kid 606, Matmos, Taylor Deupree, Scott
Pagano, and many more.

While we hosted the debut (only?) live performance of the
Nerurotic Drum Band upstairs at Tonic about a year ago, we've
never had them join us in the basement for a DJ set, and figured
it was long overdue. Ulysses and Selway are two of the most
experienced, respected, and talented techno artists in NYC. They
also both have awe inspiring record collections that they really
know how to use.
Born outside of New York City, Ulysses has been DJing since 1991,
when he made his start on the radio at WTUL, New Orleans. Since
then he's gone on to international stardom as a producer and DJ.
He has remixed artists such as Pop legend Arthur Baker, and local
rock gods Le Tigre and the Scissor Sisters. He's performed in
over 30 countries, such as recent performances in Venezuela,
France, and Hong Kong, as well as New York's acclaimed PS1
Warm-Up Series.
http://scatalogics.com/
John Selway's bio is mind bogglingly long and impressive, so
we'll just give you a brief synapsis. Selway has been surrounded
by music his whole life, studying violin and piano by age 5. He
started working on electronic music at the ripe age of 12, and
released his first record by 19. He co-produced records with
Oliver Chesler (the Horrorist), BT, Ali Shirazinia, and Scott
Richmond early in his career. In the mid-90's, he started the
Serotonin record label, putting out tons of dope releases,
including the very first Fischerspooner record. He then went on
to work with Abe Duque and Christian Smith, touring the globe and
earning lots of praise. He is currently very busy with his new
label Memory Boy (retro Italo disco), his Neurotic Drum Band
project with Ulysses, and many other collaborations and projects
that will see the light of day soon.

Barem is one of the best acts we've ever discovered through a net
label. His solo EP on Unfoundsound (and tracks on both the
"Unhappy Anniversary" and "Aires Buenos" Unfoundsound
compilations) really turned some heads and quickly went into
heavy rotation at the Bunker. He is a key figure in a the
emerging techno scene in Buenos Aires, and has a track on the
upcoming min2MAX compilation on M_nus. We are proud to present a
rare North American appearance by this rising star. Check out
Unfoundsound (one of our favorite net labels) for some stellar
free downloads of his work.
http://unfoundsoundrecords.com/
Back in November, we celebrated the released of Ben Parris's
debut record (Foundsound 5), and he treated us to a storming DJ
set that had the whole place bouncing. Ben has been one of the
biggest supporters of minimal techno on the east coast for a long
time. He organized the Once.Twice Sound festival in Baltimore,
bringing in everyone from Akufen to Dimbiman. After spending a
year or so down in North Carolina working on a fish farm, trying
to figure out the meaning of life or something, Ben produced some
amazing tracks that get alot of play at the Bunker and on
dancefloors around the world.

Tonight we're bringing in two of the most exciting next-wave
producers from Detroit. Seth Troxler hasn't released very much
music yet, but you'll be hearing alot from this prolific 20 year
old (!!!) producer in the near future. He has a track on a
compilation on Omar S's FXHE label and Matthew Dear included one
of his tracks on his new Fabric mix CD. He plays around Detroit
often, including a residency at the infamous Untitled party.
Tonight is his NYC debut.
Ryan Crosson has been making major waves in the minimal techno
scene since his releases started appearing in late 2005. His
debut EP on Trapez LTD was very well received, and he released
two monster EPs on M_nus (as Berg Nixon) and Telegraph in early
2006. Drawing from artists like Plastikman, Matthew Dear, Stewart
Walker, and a heavy dose of Magda DJ sets, Ryan focuses his
attention on percussive programming, dubby basslines, and dark
atmospheres. In addition to many successful gigs in the midwest,
Ryan has upcoming dates at huge European clubs such as Watergate
in Berlin and The End in London. Like Seth, we feel that Ryan
will be turning alot of heads as part of the next wave of Detroit
techno.

You have all heard about the amazing parties that Wolf + Lamb
have thrown over the past year in Brooklyn. Now they have moved
on to running their own net label and releasing original studio
productions. There are a ton of net labels out there, but most of
them are releasing experimental material that traditional vinyl
labels wouldn't even consider releasing as a b-side. As DJs who
gave up vinyl in favor of playing mp3's with Ableton Live, Wolf +
Lamb found this very frustrating. They decided to do something
about it and launch a net label that only released tracks that
were worthy of dancefloor play. They took things one step further
and decided to make the it an "open source" label. This means
that the tracks are released with the original source material;
either as the self contained Ableton Live layout file, or as a
sample collection for the specific track. This enables Ableton
DJs to really get their hands dirty and tear apart the tracks for
a more personal performance. It also gives producers around the
world everything they need to make their own remixes of the
tracks (which can be submitted to Wolf+Lamb for consideration as
official label releases). Check out the Wolf + Lamb Music website
to see/hear for yourself. All downloads are 100% free!
http://wolflambmusic.com/
We will celebrate this newly launched label with a full night of
performances from Wolf + Lamb artists. Tonight will feature the
debut live performances of both Odd Dots and Loren Steele, two
completely fresh faces to the scene who put out their debut
releases on Wolf + Lamb Music. We will also be treated to a live
set by Konrad Schierling (also known as Bunker resident DJ
Movement), who has remixed two of Wolf+Lamb's original
productions. And of course we will round out the night with DJ
sets from Wolf + Lamb themselves and Bunker resident and Wolf +
Lamb A&R guy DJ Spinoza. this will be the first time ever that we
remove the turntables completely for the entire night at the
Bunker.

The Agriculture founder DJ Olive is one of our heroes, someone
who we give our deepest respect to. Olive is just as comfortable
improvising on stage with people like Luc Ferrari and John Zorn
as he is rocking all night dance parties with sweat dripping from
the ceiling. He has been touring the world for years, making
brief stops in Brookyln from time to time, so we were lucky to
snag him for this gig. His live sets consist of deep dubby
breaks
and backyard jeep beats. Olive recently released "Heaps As", his
2nd solo album for The Agriculture. Tonight, he is playing a very
special 2.5 hour set starting on the early side, so don't show up
too late.
http://theagriculture.com/djolive.html
Agriculture newcomer David Last has already caused major waves
in
the electronic music community with his debut release on the
Agriculture, which sounds kinda like Mouse on Mars inna Jamaican
dancehall. He is currently playing in a live dub band and
working
on organic minimal techno tracks and remixes for Goosehound,
Microcosm, Stuabgold, and Unfoundsound. Recent live techno sets
at the BAP warehouse party (opening for John Tejada), the Bunker
(big Monolake party in August), and the Goosehound/Wolf+Lamb
label launch loft party have all been very impressive.

eclectic ecstatic party sounds
It's Winter Music Conference in Miami this week, and as usual,
the Bunker is completely uninvolved. We're throwing a party in
NYC with a few interesting international weirdos instead.
Rob Hall is one of the most inspired, meticulous and well
respected DJ's anywhere in the world today. His specialty is
weaving together sets of electro, house, techno, breaks, and
experimental electronic music into totally danceable headfuck
sets. He is the Skam records resident DJ, and has traveled the
globe extensively on tour with Autechre. He also worked in the
studio and contributed to live performances of Autechre's Gescom
project.
http://www.skam.co.uk/
It's been a long time since Bunker co-founder Timeblind has
joined us for a set. NYC was bumming him out, so he moved to
Berlin two years ago, leaving the Bunker in the hands of DJ
Spinoza. Timeblind has always been a wildly eclectic DJ, spinning
dancehall, jungle, hip-hop, techno, disco, arabic dance music,
and lately alot of grime/dubstep. He is also a prolific recording
artist, releasing techno 12"s on Probe, Synewave, Missile and
Kanzleramt; boundary/genre-free electronica on Orthlorng Musork;
dancehall on Shockout; and an upcoming dubstep/grime EP on DJ
/rupture's Soot label ... all quality output. He's now using
Ableton Live to bring all of these diverse interests together in
hybrid DJ/live sets that cover alot of ground.
http://crucial-systems.com/
Romo runs the highly successful Backlash weekly in Dublin,
Ireland. The format is somewhat open-ended, with a focus on
minimal techno and electro-house. He's brought in many
heavyweight artists like Chicken Lips, Jacques Lu Cont,
Blackstrobe, the Optimo DJs, and Tiefschwarz. He's also been
playing big parties all around Dublin, and we're excited to bring
his sound to NYC.

eclectic ecstatic party sounds
Saint Patrick's Day is on a friday this year, and we are going
to party in style at the Bunker!
Sleeparchive has put out 5 of the best techno 12"s we've heard
in the past few years, and we are beyond thrilled that he is joining
us for a live set at the Bunker. He is a shadowy figure who
avoids attention from the press, so not much is known about him.
His sound is extremely minimal, bringing together the best
elements of legendary techno artists like ø (Sähkö), Rob Hood,
Dan Bell, and Plastikman. We've heard some recent live sets
online, and they are incredible. Don't miss this very rare
opportunity to catch one of the biggest head turners in
electronic music at the moment.
http://www.sleeparchive.de/
Function (aka Dave Sumner and Portion Reform) has been one of
the major players in the NYC techno scene for a very long time. His
series of Substance events at Limelight were legendary, including
guests like Jeff Mills, Surgeon and many other notables. Now he's
doing the Phono series at Avalon (former Limelight) on Saturday
nights, bringing proper minimal techno to the weekend big club
crowd. He's also thrown some hugely successful afterparties at
DEMF the past two years. Aside from throwing great parties, Dave
is a very successful recording artist, label owner, and DJ. He
recently released Sleeparchive's remix of Regis on his
Infrastructure label, which has been a huge Bunker favorite since
it's release. Lately he has been using Ableton Live to create
DJ/Live hybrid sets full of exclusive remixes and re-edits of
heady minimal music. We're psyched to finally have Dave play at
the Bunker.

From Caracas to Miami, colmenares is a native Venezuelan dj/
producer earning a rep as a purveyor of quality in dance music.
His musical influences are taken from Future Jazz, Deep House,
Minimal, and Detroit Techno, out of which he creates an energy
much like the early mixes of Villalobos. His Future Collective
project is bringing some much needed diversity to the Miami scene
with a monthly party, Pornograph. And after recently hearing him
please the crowd down there, we've invited him to come warm
things up here.
An Atlanta native, Adam Smith knows all about nurturing a city's
minimal techno scene--co-running the Late Night Essentials record
label and playing alongside the likes of Magda and John Tejada.
For his Subtonic debut, Adam will do what he does best: mix them
records while sippin on some sizurp.
Alex Dirttt didn't get his name by keeping it clean. No doubt
this guy always has the freshest-latest in techno and house, but
he's known for dropping acid classics and disco in a way that it
all makes sense. He recently blew up the spot at the New Lost
CIty party and we're excited to have him back at the Bunker.

We skipped the Winter Music Conference in Miami last year, and
plan to skip it again this year (it's really not our cup of tea
at all). When everybody came back last year, the word on the
street was that a big festival highlight was Mark Verbos's
amazing acid house set using all the classic Roland hardware
(TR-909, TR-707, TR-808, MC-202, and of course the TB-303).
Verbos is a veteran of the early 90's midwest rave scene, where
he played many Drop Bass parties, so he knows a thing or two
about acid. He never looked back and has been producing great
records and playing at huge parties ever since, building up a
formidable discography. Check out his website for proof of all
this and some nice downloads. Tonight he will help us to
celebrate 3/03 with his live acid house set, which tore the roof
off the Bunker back in July. This time we've asked him to go even
heavier on the 303.
http://www.simple-answer.com/
Carlos Souffront is a DJ's DJ from Detroit with impeccable taste
who apparently has one of the most insane acid collections in the
world. His taste, style and integrity have made him one of
Detroit's most sought after young DJs. He is a sometimes member
of Ectomorph and DJ's with BMG on a weekly radio show on Ann
Arbor's WCBN. Carlos claims that he just wants "to expose the
funk and psychedelia of my favorite records in a new way". He
hasn't been to NYC since he played at Magda's Gel & Weave party
at Openair about 4 years ago, and we're very excited to bring him
back for this special event.

haven't heard, this is the best club in Manhattan. it's been
around for awhile, but no one has really thrown a techno party
there yet. It has the most incredible sound system I've ever
heard, a completely padded chillout room that you can climb
around in, a waterfall, and lots more. Note that this is a
daytime party, the whole thing is over at midnight.

Tonight we are proud to celebrate the birthdays of our friends
Camea & Kendra.
Kendra is known for playing deep minimal tunes that fall into the
catagory of either robot love songs or underwear dance party
anthems. She is also known for raising hell at our parties,
dancing on the bar, humping speakers, making out, buying rounds
of shots, and otherwise getting the party started properly. She
is a great DJ who is constantly schooling us on hot new
tracks. She's been a friend and a supporter for a long time, and
we're thrilled to get her back behind the decks at the Bunker for
the first time in a good while.
Camea is a rising talent in the New York City minimal scene. Her
dark driving minimal techno sets have gained her many gigs around
the world. She recently started producing and launched the Clink
record label with Insideout, and is about to launch the Klickhaus
label with Tim Xavier. She has a track on an upcoming Steve Bug
mix cd and Magda opened a recent set with another one of her
tracks, so obviously her music is getting out there and into the
right record crates. Tonight is her Bunker debut.

A quick look at Troy Geary aka DJ Slip's Discogs.com entry shows
that he has nearly 40 releases under his belt in the past decade!
His first big break came when he ended up sharing studio space
with Woody McBride and Rob Williams in the early 90's. This
eventually led to many releases on the legendary Drop Bass label
and DJ sets at the equally legendary Drop Bass parties all over
the midwest. Eventually Slip got sick of the Midwest and moved to
New York City, where he played at Twilo several times during the
glory days, opening for Carl Cox and Billy Nasty. He's been
living in Portland for awhile now, raising his kid, making music,
and consuming massive amounts of cigarettes and coffee. Now it's
2005 and one of his old Parotic tracks ("Every Time It Takes A
While", which has been in Dj Movement's heavy rotation at the
Bunker for a long time) is prominently featured on Richie
Hawtin's DVD and is being reissued by Falko Brocksieper on
Substatic. We figured it was about time that he come back to NYC
to rock a party, so we bought him a plane ticket. DJ Slip has
made a career out of making sounds that go against the grain of
what is popular at the time. He is a seriously bad ass DJ, and we
fully expect him to bring the house down tonight.
Since 1989 Leonard has been a fixture in New York City's
underground music scene. By the mid nineties he had taken up the
incurable habit of amassing a library of vinyl. His name is on
several releases as he has designed artwork for a slew of indie
techno labels from around the world. He started several weekly
and bi-monthly parties (the infamous Brooklyn rooftop/loft
parties, Composition, MILQ & Rebel), where he DJed alongside
numerous respected international and local artists in the
electronic underground music scene. His motivation lies in the
pursuit of engaging the audience to some of the most current and
obscure music available. This year his concept label THEMA, a
personal project that's been in the works for some time, is
coming to fruition. Look out for it at finer vinyl shops near
you. After taking a short break from playing out in New York,
Leonard is back on the decks feeling the vibe and mixing his
eclectic bag of tricks.

Tonight we celebrate resident DJ Unjust's (aka Ivy) birthday!
Strategy is one of those artists who works in many genres, making
him a perfect Bunker guest. He makes rootsy dub for Tigerbeat6,
ambient soundscapey stuff for Kranky, and techno and house for
the ORAC label. Oh yeah, he also plays in Portland bands Nudge
and Fontanelle. AND, he often DJs at dance parties around
Portland. He just started the Community Library label last year,
which has already had several records in heavy rotation at the
Bunker. Obviously, this is a guy who lives for music.
http://www.community-library.net/
Representing deepergroove and Loft-in-Space, eVa is one of the
underground's best-kept-little-secret weapons ;-) She goes beyond
the four-four formula and has recently been moving the
afterhours' dancefloor with sets that stand out from the minimal
mentality. Her mixes incorporate a deeper selection - from house
and broken-beat influences to deep techno. eVa is a favorite of
the birthday girl, so there's no doubt she'll bring something
special for the occasion.
