Wow! It's been two months since my last update. So much has happened
in the world; but I'm not gonna depress you by talking about that.
I'm gonna give you a few minutes of satisfying distractions......

Progress on the new black tape for a blue girl album continues; I am
really pleased with how it's coming along. As I mentioned previously,
I'm now recording on a PC, which gives me incredibly delicate control
over my mix and song flow, as well as allows me the luxury of
infinite tracks per song, if it's called for. Previously, I recorded
on an analog 8 track (yeah, all the black tape cds were recorded on
an 8 track!!!) which really was limiting, since one track was set
aside for the midi, which left me only seven for vocals, instruments,
etc.... wow. it's great to get into the 90s!
: )
Currently, I have around 50 minutes of material for the album. There
are a number of minimal pieces with cello and violin, that's sort of
like bits of "Remnants of a deeper purity," yet more refined. There's
also ethereal tracks, featuring vocalist Elysabeth (who was here at
the beginning of the month recording vocals on four songs: "Kinski,"
"The Doorkeeper," "Bastille Day, 1961" and a cover of a Sonic Youth
track). I now have a really good grasp on the flow of the album and
the themes are coming together. Wherein the last album had a
Duchampian influence, the new one has some Kafka-inspired pieces
(including a track "Like a dog / letter to Brod" which is drawn from
his journals and letters). I'm still working on defining the theme;
I'll let you know as soon as I can clearly express it (it's pretty
hard to do, when in the middle of the creation process).
Elysabeth will be back in late November - as will my new male
vocalist - to finish up recording for the album. I expect to wrap up
the mixing in early December and the CD will be available through the
Projekt website in early 2002, in advance of the general release in
April. As you have probably noticed, I haven't mentioned the name of
the album, yet. I'm pretty sure I know what it is, but I'm not ready
to speak it... (but soon!)
"Kinski (early mix)" will appear on the Neue Asthetik Multimedia CD
compilation "The Velvet Box," released in the next couple of months.
Speaking of Kinski, the Sept. issue of Germany's Orkus magazine
featured a two-page article on Klaus which I wrote (and they
translated)... and the conclusion will be in the October issue. I'm
writing an expanded version of this article (which will be in
English, naturally) for Issue #7 of New York's Sentimentalist
Magazine. That will be out in November. We will carry that - as well
as "The Velvet Box" - through the

My solo electronic album "before the buildings fell" (which was
recorded in 1986, simultaneously with "the rope") is on sale at the
projekt site for $5.98. Many of you are catching up with this
release, now.... thanks for all the nice comments

The website has a couple of shots of Lisa and Elysabeth that I took
with the digital camera while shooting photos for the cd booklet.
Speaking of photos, you can help me out. If you have any shots on
your website of black tape live shows, please get in touch. I am
trying to update the Photo Gallery page with links. Thanks!
I'm going to redesign the site, shortly. Let me know if there is
anything you'd like to see.
