Richard and Karen Carpenter blasted onto the music scene in 1970, after dismal sales of their first lp "Offering", and took the world by storm with hits like "Close To You", "We've Only Just Begun", "Superstar" and "Please Mr. Postman". Unfortunately, Karen Carpenter died at the tender age of 32 of complications brought on by her long battle with anorexia-nervosa.
